Ok old thread but what model Sony are you using, and has anyone had any success using any mini tablets cheers.  There are many different Sony xperia models.

That would depend on the tablet, but most mini tablets probably wouldn't get the job done like ISFBloke's phone or similar. Most mini tablets are price focused, so aren't exactly generous with sound output compared to top tiered smartphones for example.

Correct that is the main reason why one of my phones is a top of the line Sony, it has the proper manual equalizer and bass settings that is rare and makes a big difference. I also have the latest top HTC and Samsung but neither come close to the Sony SQ wise even with after market apps.

So which Sony would you recommend would the Z3 be good enough cheers.

I currently use the Xperia Performance but before that I had the Z3 and it was great.

Since the issue with car's processor is that it filters and processes any input you use except the AUX which is normally a "straight through" type hence the only way to have decent quality coming out of the speakers. But since there is no additional amplifier in the line the volume input is low so the need to crank up the volume and the quality entirely depends on the source which is why is extremely hard to have decent quality throughput.

The AUX input is no different to any other source except it is analog - it is still processed the same way, still goes through the head unit EQ and sound processor. The only difference is unlike the digital inputs you have the opportunity to pump a strong signal into it to compensate somewhat for the low gain, which may or may not work... I have run various sources through both the USB and analog inputs and they all suffer from the low gain of the stock system regardless. The difference in audio quality is barely worth worrying about.
