Please Help - 98 Gs300 With Weird Brake Issue!

Crazy noise like a bird dying / baby crying is being emmitted from brake booster area.

This goes on and off.

Then after about 15 mins of driving it "flatlines".

Just goes Beeeeeeeeepppppp continuosly and all the lights come up, eg. VSC / ABS / Handbrake etcetc.

Actual brakes? FINE! No loss of pressure / pedal feel etc.

PLEASE HELP! There must be a sneaky trick to fixing this or something?

So far I have...

Bled the brakes twice.

Bought 2nd hand all the electonic brake components etc and replaced all except for the master cylinder.

Have had the electronic reset tool reset the system.

Bled the brakes again. Disconnected the battery to try and reset the faults in the computer. etc.

I am totally at a loss and am going to have to sell the car for a loss if I can't resolve!

Ps. car is a local 1998 and has genuine 42,000klms only!!!

Any advice / contacts / suggestions appreciated. I've had this car off the road for a month trying to fix her!

Update, 2nd hand components got rid of the noise, but then leaked brake fluid continually!!

Have refunded parts.

Now am stuck with original parts and am re-fitting today - hopefully they won't leak also!??

Hi i have seen and repaired the problem with the high pitched squeal noise.. it is a relay that is dying located in the master cylinder(the electrical side) most dealerships have been made aware of these... they also have the information on how to repair.. i believe the cost of a new master clyinder was 2k> The parts can be had for less than $10 and then the labour much cheaper option. Good luck with your endeavours..

I have a 1994 Aristo / GS300 and it does the same thing. It sounds like the noise comes from within the brake booster, and it happens when the booster motor shuts off after priming the system. So every few presses of the brake pedal, this noise comes, I also describe it as a 'dying bird' noise!

I had a a similar problem. All the warning lights came on. Screaming sound from the brake system. The Lexus dealer said it was to do with the dot 3 brake fluid. Dot 4?? I think is the replacement. I had a major service and they had used the upgraded dot 4 fluid. This was replaced and problem over. The master cylinder and brake system are in one piece and cost about $5000 to replace....ouch!! I have had no problems since. I know I can buy cheaper parts via my family in Japan....my wife is Japanese.
