  1. Ring your insurance company and tell them about your issue. Tell them you want to take it to Lexus as the smash repairers couldn't get the sensors working.

They'll probably give you a claim number so a Lexus dealer and just charge your insurance company for the work done.

You can just use the same claim number.

However I would ring your dealer and explain the problem, depending on the dealer they will probably tell you to bring the car around and have a look at it for you. Unless something is damaged it's unlikely they will charge you to have a look at it and reset it or something. And if something is broken or they can't fix it for free then contact your insurer.

  2. The powder is either the cutting compound or polish, get a soft brush or a thin rag and you should be able to clean it yourself.

The sensors not beeping however is probably because some setting has reset itself. It happened to me when I sent my car in to get my front slip and bumper re-sprayed. The smash repairer just sent the car to Lexus to get everything reset and it worked fine.

  3. Alright, this is gonna sound odd but I thought I share my 'not so good experience' with Chatswood Sales - On the other hand their parts and service departments are great. I've dealt with them on many occasions so I'm only talking about Sales here.

When I was about looking for IS250 I had a trade in at the time. I when to Chatswood first due to the positive feedback from this site (before I became a member).

What I was looking for was who could get me the best deal on the trade in as the trade in had to go before I were to get this one.

The sales guy drove it around and when we back to negotiate on the price he couldn't give me a figure unless I commit. He couldn't give me a definite price on the IS250 either only the RRP!!. I thought that was really unprofessional and I could tell he didn't knew much about the car even with the 07-08 minor changes with the rear seat spacing with the front seats.

I went to Parramatta and I didn't had to commit to be able to get a trade in / drive away price. Parramatta got my business in the end and wern't pushy.

Later in the week, the guy from Chatswood rang me asking if I was still interested in the car in which I politely said no.

oh well, nothing in life is perfect! but again it shouldn't reflect badly on the dealership just because of the actions of one person! i'm not trying to justify it, i'm just stating my opinion!

sorry to hear about it, although at least you were happy with your purchase at parramatta!

parramatta and chatswood are my two favourite dealers. i originally did everything through chatswood but moved so i was closer to parramatta and so went there! service is awesome! Lawrence from service is a really good guy and will look after you!

Funny, i've actually gotta add the same comment with Chatswood sales, but yes their service is excellent and I get mine done there.

Anyway, I also had a trade and they really weren't interested in even talking and working out a deal, it was actually quite disapointing because I was excited to buy a new car. Anyway, ended up going to Newcastle and they paid an extra $7000 for the trade and actually wanted my business. However, I would not recommend them; bad after sales experience... another story for another day.

As for Lawrence at Parra, he was a little difficult last time I had to get my car done and part of the reason I ended up going to Chatswood.

    But each to their own...

Sorry, Franky but I have to stick up for my good mate Lawrence over at Parramatta, he is a very nice guy maybe you just caught him on a bad day which we all have. I would definitely give him another go...

  4. yeah, i can also vouch for that! was looking at isc and thought it was too similiar to my is250 so was interested in a a5 cabriolet! went to four audi dealers over the course of a month and all of them had sh*t service, including their pride and joy main dealership in zetland! all show and nothing much else!

they're just too arrogant and think there cars are so good they'll sell themself!

I also went to their shiny new showroom at Zetland after an S3, stood around for around half an hour with the missus it wasn't until we were about to leave that someone comes over and asks if we need help. By then the sickening thought had kicked in that if they were this unprofessional before you give them your hard earned cash, how are they going to be afterwards.

A real shame because the S3 is a nice looking car but the whole experience has put me off buying one.

  5. I guess mine must be painted alloys - after 18 months I finally rubbed a gutter today. I guess it had to happen some time. I rubbed away the rough bit with wet and dry but there seems to be a black layer under the silver finish. They are stock wheels for the 250X.

No real damage now - just an ugly black mark on the surface of the wheel which I need to get rid of. May have to pay someone to do it.

ProjectIS can you send me the contact details for the guy that did yours?

I recently grazed my rear wheel on a gutter. I got it fixed by United Wheel Techs - 0425 305 590 (Say Curran's Auburn referred you for special pricing) they came out to my place and fixed it then and there for a reasonable price and they did an excellent job.

Care to share before/after photos (if you have them?) and the $ damage?

Damage was $150 for a 5 to 10 cm scrape along the wheel lip. It wasn't a lot but I knew it was there and wanted it fixed.

Another repairer who shall remain nameless wanted over $300 and wanted the wheel dropped off and they would paint the whole wheel. These guys just paint the bit they repair.

  7. Hey Cevu,

    Pretty good thread, hey!!

As for your vision, nice!!!! I have never been a fan of the classic "coloured" wheel, but the Work emotions on that ride look tough! If we are sticking with the 250's though, (for a little while longer anyway),we need to start looking into some local BBK's. Cost a mint to freight in. Especially if you are going to paint the calipers purple, you will need them to be atleast a 12pot! ok, maybe 8 will do! Ha! (The pic has the the IS350 cal's which are bulk bigger then our baby 250's)!!

    Upgrade a must!!

The GFX kit completes nice!! I will say though, Im not a big fan of the visors so please don't include them in your vision brother!! ;)

    Im feel'n it!! ;)

Hey Art, did you change your wheels???

The HKS exhaust is nice especially with the F-Sport intake.

Haven't changed the wheels yet still got the 18"s on it. I was looking at the 19" IS-F wheels but for the price might as well put that money towards a demo or second hand IS-F like Cevu said.

Merging threads a little bit, are we ever going to get this meet up and going? It would be cool to meet before the year is out.

  8. wow, there's a lot of opinions out there!

first thread on this forum in a while where i've seen everyone jump on board! nice to see!

anywayz, thoughts on this look? this is the exact look i'm going for including the purple calipers!

As already stated by most on this forum each to their own and what they want to do to their car!

Anyway, the comment regarding lexus stock suspension is good enough for the twisties! I've got D2 coilovers and there is certainly a night and day difference in handling. Although the stock suspension is good it can be improved on! Agreed, that D2 are probably not the greatest to go to with, however at the same time they are not the worse. I picked mine up from a fellow forum member for a bargain so can't complain!

There is also a reason why Lexus released the F-Sport parts! For those who wanted to improve upon the stock vehicle!

Anyway, each to their own but it was a bit disappointing to see everyone take a negative view to the original post! Also, a reason why i've spent most of my time on US forums as they are more open to customizing and enhancing their ride!

4plzu, do what you please mate, at the end of the day its your ride! Even if everyone thinks it looks s**t who cares, if you like it, thats all that counts!

Ilvs1004s...... where are the pics bro?

How about I sell you my car all you have to do is paint the calipers purple.....

Purple? Red, black or even yellow would look nice but purple?

  9. Only place I know off is the dealers. Still with the strong dollar it would still work out cheaper to buy from US, I think.

Even using International Priority Shipping the complete set works out at around US$2540 or so, convert that the AUS$ and you're looking at around $2700 - $2800.

I doubt you will see much change from $4K if you buy it from a dealer here in Aust.

  10. I'd hop on to IS350 model. All the features and reliability I've enjoyed with my current IS250 but with real grunt and power!

I also hope to have the IS-F grille I've always longed for. Just hope that can be option or part can be used on the IS350!

Any idea what the F-Sport IS250 is priced at?

80K for the F-Sport but from what I have been told it doesn't seem very appealing to me, it doesn't come with any of the good F-Sport bits, i.e. exhaust, springs, shocks. Just minor cosmetic things inside and a IS-F style rear boot lid. Apparently the suspension is tweaked but is still an IS250 suspension.

  11. If this does prove to be true, I will be expressing my distaste at the dealer I bought my IS250 from in August. I questioned two separate sales people on three different occasions and they gave me every assurance that there would never be an IS350 in Australia.

I wanted a 350 from day one, and had to settle with a 250 as it's the closest I could get. I do think it will be introduced at a ridiculous price point, leading me to buy an ex-demo or slightly used IS-F next time around since they can be had for $100k or less these days.

I've been told the same thing by the sales manager at a Sydney dealership. It is definitely coming along with the F-Sport IS250, both second half of 2010.

I don't think the IS350 will come in under 100K, i definitely hope so but highly doubt it.

  12. My two points:

In regards to the baby seat, my neighbor has a baby seat on the passenger side and the only drawback or inconvenience is he can't get the front seat back or laid back a great deal. Probably not a big issue if you are not travelling far but it is like sitting in an economy seat on an airplane.

Second point, in regards to some of the misguided views of F1, I think Button will have the measure of Hamilton and might actually beat him if the team allows it, Hamilton is too tough on tyres and with a full fuel load will have to alter his driving style to make the tyres last, whereas Button has a smoother driving style which as he demonstrated this season, is kinder to his tyres. Either way I am putting my money on Ferrari and Mercedes Benz / Brawn, the latter especially if the rumours regarding a certain M Schumacher prove correct.
