  1. Thank's Sapphire

I was planning to get it wheel alignment anyway since I got it.

Actually I'm tryiing to find out as much as possible of the manufacture defect or poblem as you go before my warranty end.

So it will keep me less headache in the future.

Would they charge labour cost on the warranty repair/replacement?

Please anyone here have ever come across with any problem, point out for me as a my guidance.

Appreciate to all the club members here who being quick responded

Items or work covered under warranty are free and this included labour. It probably doesn't hurt to check before hand though to avoid any nasty surprises when you pick up your car.

The other main problems you might look for if you want them fixed before your warranty runs out, are rattles from the dash, rearview mirror and side pillars as well as the engine knock on start up.

  2. Hey Guys

Thanks so much for the responses and info. Its a massive help.

I will likley look to get a 06 or 07 model, mainly due to the fact that it should be a bit cheaper than the newer models....or more to the point, i should be able to get a better spec model for similar money...the downside is it may have 30k kms on it...but Lexus' are pretty bullet proof so i could not see that being an issue.

It seems the general consensus is the prestige with the enhancment pack is the best value......the main things ill miss in this option is the 'Alcantra??' seats...they are like ventilated leather right? where as they are in both sports and sports lucury (even if the SL is the only with the heating and cooling)

The other day on car sales there was an 06 SL with like 40k kms for $43k, it had the wording 'cheapest spots luxury on carsales' or something. I thought that was pretty good value indeed.

I do like the idea of the sports pedals and stuff...but also like the idea of the illuminated door sills, which may only be in the SL.

I guess it will just be a matter of keeping my eye online and when i see something that seems really good value just going for it. By the sounds of it the Prestige with the options will be a brilliant car either way. Fingers crossed that in the next 6 months there are a few bargains out there.

Iv been so happy with my is200 that upgrading to the 250 was just such a logical choice. I looked at some other options like Honda Accord Euro...new Mazda 6 etc... and value for money the is250 is far superior. Especially as they are not as common on the road (well here in adelaide at least) and they ahve all the fun gadgets etc on them.

Might not be the correct place for this post but my is200 has the 'Legana' badging on the front grill...along with a body kit that iv only really seen on one other is200...any one know anything about that particular model?

    Solirossi,

The Alcantara seats are a suede like fabric which you can find on some IS200 and is only available on the Sports IS250. The Sports Luxury comes with leather seats.

The Legana edition of the IS200 was a limited edition run and as such you might be able to get a good price if you sell privately or trade in.

I have a Sports Luxury model and when I get a loan car from my dealer it's usually a Prestige and if you get one with the enhancement pack you will not really be missing out on anything that you can't live without. The main difference for me would be, the HID's (which you can get kits for anyway), and the forward facing sensors (useful if your missus drives the car). Apart from that unless you have kids the rear sun shade is useless, the radar cruise control I find annoying as on the motorway it will never let you get up close to someone as it slows you down to their speed and they then never move out of the way. The headlight washers, I have never used. The illuminated door sills only light up if you have the inside light set to turn on when you open the door.

So my advice would be get a Prestige with the enhancement pack and add things to the car you want, i.e. exhaust, wheels etc.

  3. Dear oh dear - the things people say on on-line forums.... Driving a Prestige with EMV is equivalent to driving a Hyundai?? Possibly the stupidest thing Ive ever read on this Forum. The IS250 Prestige is the class leader in standard equipment - streets ahead of anything Audi, BMW, Merc, VW, Honda etc. can put on the table for $60k. Yes Pygtohian, the Prestige is very basic indeed isn't it - I think on your advice I'm better off trading my IS250 Horse-n-cart variant in for a Hyundai Getz then. So sorry, but I can see how terrible the driving experience must be without those critical fundamentals like illuminated door sills, radar cruise control, adaptive lighting, wood paneling, motorised rear shade and headlight washers. :)

It is a terrible driving experience akin to riding in a horse and cart, definitely better off in a Hyundai

  4. 19's? Just not sure. I need to check with my insurance company. You know, the 2" rule!!!

I think if this time instead of the deep dish, I go with a full faced wheel, the 18's should look alot bigger. If the misses approves my cash request, then I will opt for the 19's in the WORK wheels!!! Lets see. I need to buy a motorbike before the months end and this aquisition wasn't quite planned!!! But I will tell my miss's that Cevu and Franky said I should upgrade!!! That should sway her!!

Art, don't forget about that mobile wheel guy that I mentioned a while ago. He did a really good job with my ones back then and I know he is fully geared up for all types of surfaces!!

    Hey,

Thanks but the wheel has already been fixed as a freebie by Curran's in Auburn.

The 2" rule, does that mean that your can't fit wheels more than 2" bigger than what your car came with? If that's the case then theoritically you could go as big as 20" since the Sports version comes with 18" wheels.

  5. What does an absolutely stupid council idea for curb placement and my two passenger side wheels have in common????

ANSWER.......(can you notice the slight defect)???

    IMG_9561.jpg

Perhaps easier seen in this pic!!!

    IMG_9563.jpg

    Its really not that bad!!!

Look, yeh I was pisS%ed!! I guess at myself, but more so at the council. Not only did this thing stick out about 2m into the road way, dirt and grass covered the reflectors that help make this thing stand out. For anyone that has driven around Botany and seen how some of these container trucks drive, I don't think anyone would blame me for keeping more so to the left! (Damn nice place for a photoshoot though)!!!

Anyway fella's, they were always a temporary setup, I guess its time to do some more wheel shopping !!!

And you don't know how glad I was that there was not a hint of damage to the car. Wheel alignment verified all was good!!!

Cevu, see what you started mate!!!! HAHAH!!!

By the way, where are all your cars??? Cevu, they still got yours mate!??! Art, hope nothing serious with yours!!

They say sh#t happens in 3's, I hope not here!!!

Second day back from overseas and I collected a curve with the front lip. Thankfully just that and a tiny scratch on a wheel but nothing that can't be fixed cheaply.

Yours was much worse from the looks of it.

  6. I paid US$398, I run a import business so there is no shipping charge as it is coming in one of our containers we get from the US.

Shipping, depending on how soon you want will set you back about another US$400.

That to me is too much as you are looking at around AU$1200 or so by the time it arrives.

Incidently, K & N have a similar cold air filter for around $800 plus GST.

I went with the F-Sport for the simple reason it's made by Lexus, (I assume anyway) and I pay nothing for shipping.

  7. I know some of you have the F-Sport Air intake, how hard is it to install?

I've ordered one and I wanted to know if it's an easy install or am I better off taking it to Lexus to install...

i've got a short ram fujita intake and did that myself. done in about 30 minutes but i have taken it out and put back in a few times for service and i can now do it in about 12 minutes.

so not very hard, just a bit of a pain the first time as you look for all the bolts etc.

it's just a matter of taking stock one out and f sport in.

if u're in sydney i'm happy to help.

Cool thanks I will give it a go when it arrives.

  8. Hmmmm.... i sorta expected to pay about 300 for a detail but i suppose it really depends on the condition of my car. Oh well, i'll definitely check it out when i pop by. By the way, would u mind giving me the full address??

The address is 7 Rawson Street Auburn.

Ask for Sam the owner as he might give you a better deal than the guys that just work there...

  9. It depends on what they have to do.

My IS200 was black and had a lot of swirl marks and a fine scratches which they took out and it set me back around $400 from memory.

Best bet is to go and let them see the car then they can tell you the price. The owner's name is Sam Movizio, he is a nice guy and honest too so they will tell you what they can and can't do.

I've since taken my IS250 there when I got hit by flying debris on the M4 and they gave me back my car as perfect as it was when I picked it up from Lexus.
