  1. TESTED ON: 2007 IS250 Sports with enhancement pack SUCCESFUL/FAIL: Success LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: easy INTRODUCTION There is a hidden diagnostics menu available in the entertainment/navigation system that lets you play with all sorts of weird and wonderful items. Of the most interest (to me, at least) was the ability to switch on the reverse parking camera while driving normally. WARNING: As I'm uncertain of their purpose, I strongly recommend you avoid the "memory" functions available in this area. Alternatively, if you know what they do, please add an update to this topic. STEPS 1. Hold down the INFO button (to the left of the screen) 2. Whilst holding the button turn the lights from off to on (not auto) and back to off 4 times until the menu appears To access the reverse camera, press the MENU option at the top right of the screen and select the CAMERA CHECK option. To exit the diagnostics screen, press and hold the DISPLAY button until the system reboots (you'll get the "I Agree" screen again). See attached photos below. 2. Cheers - just added a new "Howto" topic to disable traction control. How do we get it pinned? I'm hoping a moderator reads it and sees my reques for them to do it.
  3. NOTE: This is the first in what I hope will be a series of HOWTOs, documenting the collective knowledge of members of this forum. It would be appreciated if a moderator could pin this topic (and all other HOWTO topics) so they're always available at the top of the forum. ---------------------- TESTED ON: 2007 IS250 Sports with enhancement pack SUCCESFUL/FAIL: Success LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: medium (requires fancy footwork!) INTRODUCTION As we all know, disabling traction control on the IS (by hitting the button twice) is only a temporary disable. As soon as the car detects serious slip, it kicks back in and you lose all that lovely power at the back wheels. Lexus considers this a feature, as you should only ever need to temporarily disable traction control in unique situations, like trying to get out of snow or something. To the best of my knowledge, it's not possible to permamently disable traction control, but it is possible to completely disable it for the duration of a drive (ie: between starting the car and turning it off again). STEPS 1. Start the car with the park brake on 2. Apply foot brake twice, keeping the foot brake down on the second push 3. Apply park brake twice, leaving it down on the second push 4. Skid light on the dash will illuminate if successful If it doesn't work the first time, switch the car off and start again at step 1.
  4. I'd like to see a pinned thread (or a series of them) to hold technical info, tips and documents. I keep a folder on my computer with all the information I find/receive, including documenting my attempts at trying each one on my car(s). If we all contributed to something like this, I'm sure we could both keep existing members interested and attract new ones.
  5. Me too. I've asked my dealer about pricing a few times already, but he can't seem to get me an answer. Guess we'll just have to wait a few more months and see what happens. I'm probably going to wait for a second or third revision anyway. Let someone else deal with the bugs on a new model for once... ;)
  6. There's another thread in this forum regarding problems with the iPhone. I've used 1st gen and 3g iPhones in both my IS250 and my wife's RX350 without any issues whatsoever, regardless of firmware version (haven't applied 2.0.1 to either of them yet). The only thing I can think of is that both iPhones are jailbroken. I guess there's a (very) remote possibility that has something to do with it...
  7. Hi all, Had my IS250 serviced recently and noticed that the loan car they gave me had programming set to lock the doors at ~20kph and unlock when the car is put into Park. It reminded me that this is one of the things I always intended to find out if I could change for myself. Now, I've found many, many hits that describe the whole "push start button twice without brake, hold central locking button for exactly 5 seconds" procedure but simply cannot get it to work. I can't find any confirmation that this procedure works on the 2007 models - they only mention 2006 and earlier. Has anyone managed to do this on their '07 model? I'm also looking to do this for my wife's '07 RX350, but I'd rather not crosspost to another forum.
  8. I found a post on the US CL forums, including photos, simply explaining and showing the wires involved in the hack. I figured there was at least no harm in checking the wiring on mine to see if it matched, and it did. I PDF'd a copy of the article if anyone's interested. The RX350 has an almost identical system (we both bought in late '07), but I haven't yet had a look at pulling it out to see if the wiring matches. If it does, hopefully it's as straightforward as my IS was. If not, I'll still see if I can trace the wiring to establish which ones match the wires I had to mod in the IS.
  9. I'm not advising for or against, but I did the hack myself without any problems whatsoever. I fitted bullet connectors to all cut wires so it can be easily reversed, and even fitted the switch for the additional GPS hack. Yes, the warranty for my audio/GPS system is now void but I personally felt it was worth the risk. I'm a tragic hacker with any electronic device I own and have never been afraid to pull something apart. My wife now wants me to hack her RX350, but I haven't found a definitive wiring guide yet.
  10. I did the hack myself without any problems or permanent damage (terminated the cut wires with bullet connectors so it can be easily reversed). My main reason: I wanted to be able to use the phone dialpad unfettered. IMHO, it's far more dangerous for me to wrestle my phone out of my pocket to dial a number I know from memory. I know it's illegal to dial a phone while driving but I'm an adult with an accident-free driving history. I know it's an old tune now, but it's my decision - not Lexus'.
  11. Was using a 1st gen iPhone since November last year, originally with firmware 1.1.1, then 1.1.4 and, most recently, 2.0, without any issues. Few weeks ago I got my new 3g iPhone, immediately applied the jailbroken 2.0 firmware, and still no issues. Both phones are working fine in my '07 IS250 and my wife's '07 RX350. Perhaps I got lucky, but I've always run jailbroken firmware. There's a slim possibility that has something to do with it. Sorry I can't be significantly helpful.
