  1. guys

There is so much different types of exhaust setups and brands out there lets start something. there is alot of threads about exhausts but its all spread out. lets condense it into one post.

Start with what brand, kw increase if known, Cost, and how loud is it / note change (quite, quiter than stock, loud, crispy loud etc etc.)

  2. Hi

lex51s is correct there is a polin fitler behind the glove box.

It is a little expensive to replace and if it's not there when being serviced they wont put one in for free.

You will have to ask them to. Or go in a give them this part number LX 87139-48030 but make sure they

sell you the Lexus polin filter not the Toyota one, the Lexus one is cheaper.

    Enjoy your day

    just a thought

is the lexus one cheaper because they have excess stock because they dont replace old existing ones lool

  3. Hi,

I have a 2000 model is200, Theres is lot f dust coming in though the air vents. Is there some sort of a filter? that needs to be changed?

With in a few days of me cleaning it the interior dash just becomes dusty. Its very fine dust, it not bad enough to hinder driving by getting in your eyes. But my car just ends up looking all dusty on the inside within a few days.

Now i've resorted to only circulating interior air for the moment b/c i just get sick of cleaning it up.

    Help anyone?

    dude

if your car has been serviced by lexus good chance and this happened to me too but i didnt have bad dust just a smell.

under the glove box is a filter i cant remember what they call it. . . some fancy name. basically.. they think cos the driver doesnt know its there they dont have to change it. mine was blacker than night.

it may be worth checking this out. basically you drop the glove box past its stops (everything falls out by the way haha) and there is a part that slides out and the filter is in that.

not makin any promises just an idea. have a go.

    good luck

  4. Hey Nush

ive got a 2002 IS. i love it. i bought it stock and did exactly what your looking to do and im sure there plenty of guys ang girls out there that have done similar and could give u plenty of ideas.

ive got 20 % tints and they are real nice but not rediculous to get busted and are still pretty dark.

you will find the speakers in your car are of superior quality and usually a deck change will give u great sound. ive got a clarion dvd player and sounds awesome.

as for wheels and lowering, its upto the individual really but ive got 18's not to outragous for tire costs looks real nice on an IS and gives a nice ride. also i lowered mine only an inch or so but made a huge difference (for the better) on handling, looks and ride.... its awesome!! and as long as you spend the money on good gear on your suspension its real worth while.

anyways Nush. just a few ideas about what ive done and they are just simple things but done right makes all the difference and still stylish. . . haha i love my car if u hadn't noticed lol. . . .

    hope this helps.

  5. Thanks Hawk77,

I've sent my key back to UK. I suspect my key was dodgy as the boot button had been worn already! (plus the lexus service guys couldn't even clone my master on to it)

It sounds very strange that you have programmed the key to start your car but can't program it with the doors? What happens when you try to program the doors?

When I try to program the doors and so forth, the programing doesn's finish, or at the end doesn't anything. I think I will try to get into Lexus Brisbane to do it, unless you guys know a different method of how to do it.

    hawk77

i had a similar problem so what i did is i did the doors first and then the other bit.

dont know if u have tried this but see how that goes dunno. just an idea.

    good luck.

  6. hey guys

i have an automatic window closer after market kit. (when you lock car windows close)

how ever i do not have enough wiring diagram info to install this module at the drivers power window controls.

i have wiring diagrams for the whole car except this power windows controller.

if i can do it at the drivers door it will cut the instalation time by 90%.

any help would be greatly appreciated as im really keen to get this working.

    cheers

  7. Hi,

I've got the key cut and I've tried programming it. I bought it from the UK. Followed the steps to program the doors etc, everything goes as according to the instructions, however it doesn't seem to finish or program. (ie, holding the lock button and unlock button on the new key). I've tried a few times and it doesn't seem to work. Note: The doors don't continue to cycle lock/unlock?

LEX5IS, did it pick up your new key right away?

Also tried programing the chip so it would start the car. Also followed the instructions to a T and it just doesn't program the key (ie, the blinking security light just continues to blink for 3minutes, where by I then give up.)

I'm going to try and delete option. Maybe the ECU has already a full number of programed keys on it.

sslc i had problems with the first programing method thats why i posted the second one i found. but also i had an old key from a previous car so it is genuine lexus that i re programmed. and it all went ok after about 5 tries because i kept stuffing it up but it eventually worked..

  8. GUUUUYS

i programed an old transponder today.

but the method described in the link above didnt really work for me. (started to work then would not complete)

found another method in a forum over seas

i have a 2002 IS200 i think 2002 + they changed the method i read somewhere. anyway below is the method that worked for me.

    Key Programming (Starter Chip)

    1. Insert an already programmed master key into the ignition. Do not turn.

    2. Press and release the gas pedal 5 times.

    3. Press and release the brake pedal 6 times.

    4. Remove the key from the ignition.

    5. Insert the new key you want to program into the ignition.

    6. Press and release the gas pedal one time.

    7. Wait 1 minute. The security light will be blinking for this one minute. When it stops blinking your key is programmed (Be patient, it'll happen). To end programming step on brake one time.

NOTE: Look for your security light. This light will guide you during the programming procedure. The security light will go off at Step 1. It will remain off until Step 6. The security light will come on and start to blink after Step 6 until the key is programmed. If the security light comes on after Step 4 STOP the procedure and start over again.

If you perform this procedure too slowly your car will not go into programming mode. If you can not get your car to go into programming mode make sure you are using a master key and not a valet key. If you have a master key then you will probably need to perform this procedure more quickly.

    Remote Programming

    1. Close and lock all doors. Unlock and open drivers door.

    2. Put key into ignition and remove. Do not turn it on.

    3. Using the electric lock switch. Lock and unlock 5 times. (Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock)

    4. Close and open drivers door.

    5. Using the electric lock switch. Lock and unlock 5 times. (Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock)

    6. Put key into ignition. Turn to "ON" , turn off and remove.

    7. You will see the door locks cycle by themselves.

If the door locks do not cycle (lock and unlock) by themselves then the car isn’t in programming mode and you must start over.

    8. On the remote, press and hold the LOCK and the UNLOCK button at the same time for no more than 2 seconds.

    9. On the remote, press the LOCK button for no more than 1 second.

AT THIS POINT, the locks should cycle by themselves ONE time. This means the procedure was accepted.

IF the locks cycle twice it has failed.

The most common reason for programming failure is because the car didn’t receive a good signal from the remote. To fix this problem try these tips. 1) Stand outside of the car while you are performing steps 8 and 9. 2) Don’t hold the remote buttons down as long.

As long as the car is still in programming mode you can keep trying steps 8 and 9 until you complete the programming. If you wait too long and the car exits the programming mode then you must start over.

After you get the remote to program then continue on with step 10.

    10. Close and open door to end programming procedure.

    good luck!!!!

  9. Hi all i'm new, I'm going to be buying a car in late april or around september this year, and a Lexus IS200 6sp manual has caught my eye, its listed at $14,250. What are the main problems with these cars? Are there any expensive things I should look out for? It has 18" Chrome wheels but I'm not interested in them, it looks like its the only modification.

    Thanks in Advance.

14,250 is cheap. it probably has high kms and has been thrashed and not looked after. id look into it more it sounds to cheap. you should be looking at about 20,000 and thats a decent not fantastic. although it is a 99 i guess.... maybe it is ok. but id look into it.

    good luck

  10. Hi Everyone,

I bought a IS200 Caliente and was keen to see how good the "premium sound system" was. Much to my disappointment it was average. I guess back in the days (2002) it may have been considered good, however in todays terms, the base is a little weak. In my opinion for sound quality, the treble is reasonably good, the mid range is average and the lower range is average. You really need to crank the system up to get good audio quality with more mid-low base response.

    What is everyone elses thoughts.

it probably doesnt have the premium sound system installed. The premium has an amp installed under the glove box and higher quality speakers. im sure someone will correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure this is a premium sound system and the standard wont have them.

i took the standard stuff out not that there was anything wrong with it (left lexus speakers) i installed a dvd screen but i found in both my is 200's (first and now) they both had this amp and the sound quality was fantastic and is still fantastic because of the fantastic quality speakers and a good quility deck.

also perhaps you have a cracked speaker??

to sum things up. standard is200 premium sound systems are fantastic IMO. but perhaps you may not have the premium sound system. or cracked speakers. (IMO)

others may have had diff experiences.
