  1. OK now my turn ;) The Mark Levinson audio system is a well configured and matched set to the IS250 interior. Of course - there are other options available to put in to this car but then again - ML and Lexus spent lots of time on matching the perfect configuration to whatever is required in a premium car audio system. I personally don't believe 14 speakers + the original sub is bad. The system sounds good and the bass levels are correct. Yes sure you can put a different sub and an amp to all that but the question is WHY?It would spoil the original configuration that makes the system play so well. If you want to do that - check all the frequency responses on speakers to match the sub to them the best possible way. Having spent lots of time exploring the audio and technical side of audio systems, I personally consider ML audio system as one of the best and clean sounding configurations so far and I would not change any component in the system. Companies like ML, HK, Marantz, B&W, Dynaudio invest lots of time and money in their technologies and are considered to be market leaders in sound development, the purification of sound.
  2. @4plzu OK I'm happy that you've got your first Lexus at such a young age AND I do agree stock 16'' are not too good looking wheels (I've got them too) BUT I would never put 19'' wheels on this car. There is a very simple reason to all that - you will loose all your Lexus "quality and comfort" of ride. It will basically be louder, stiffer on your bum so you will feel any possible crack/pothole on the road. I currently drive on 16'' because I enjoy the smoothness of the ride however I do plan on changing the wheels to 17'' as I drove few Prestige models with 17'' and the ride is comfortable enough, not spoiled. 18'' - a bit too much for me unless we're talking a bigger car to house the bigger tyre profile. I drove the IS-F around Sandown race-track about 2 months ago (Lexus Drive Day) and as much as the big wheels on that rocket do well on the track - I don't find them useful on everyday roads. Also - that problem with scrubbing - do something about it, otherwise it may cause you headaches with warranty if something goes terribly wrong (touch wood). If it comes to the mesh grille - that is simply a big no-no if you ask me. Where is the Lexus emblem? Now it looks like one of those WRX/EVOs/Skylines that we see on the road. Lights - yeah sure why not, these do look a bit better than the stock ones. Don't get me wrong - I designed a few sports kits, together with wheels in the past and participated in virtual tuning contests and forums AND as much as I would like to tune my IS250, I would simply not damage the original, clean design of the car because it is beautiful enough. Anyway - it was just my few cents on your modifications. Hope you enjoy the ride!
  3. No probs, you can call James Lane Motors also ( http://www.jameslanemotors.com.au ) and ask them to find a car for you but please note - you will not find IS250 Prestige with EMV+MR unless big kms or very very old. Can you consider different colours? I know you set your goal for a white but but hey - there are some other options... and examples: ONE TWO THREE Sorry if you don't even want to look at other colour options, just thought to give you some advice on what you can expect...
  4. Hi William, Suggesting looking through www.carsales.com.au in the first place. Check this one, give the person a call but I strongly doubt you will get a Prestige with EMV+MR with low kms for anything even close to $40k+. Those cars hold their value pretty well but then again - good luck, once in a while some really good specials come up (just like mine :D). Hope you find what you're looking for. Keep us informed about your findings ;)
  5. Contact Lexus of Blackburn (Victoria) @ (03) 9877 2788, that is ONLY IF YOU MUST buy those wheels directly from Lexus as they're simply way too expensive. Very recently I had a quote on those, can't remember exactly but somewhere about $5-6 grand for a set of Lexus genuine wheels. Not that I'm steering you away from Lexus but suggest contacting maybe TTF (www.ttf.com.au) or other wheels reseller for something equivalent as those wheels are just dear when purchased directly from Lexus. Also - try eBay. Hope the information helps.
  6. Zajebiscie ale mam juz dosc tego klauna wiec dam sobie spokoj z nim :D *** 1) Your question has already been answered so why do I need to waste my time on answering it again. 2) I know where the oil filter is so I would lie if I said I didn't. Maybe it is the wrong place for you? I don't know, you figure it out. NO - I am not saying you should leave us (for the record) - do not take it the wrong way please. This is all I have to say to you, now stop addressing me and start reading with understanding what people say because I personally have enough of your going off at people here (in this and other threads you started). I have tried to explain to you what we tried to tell you but since nothing gets to you - from now on - whatever you say, whatever you want to do, whatever you think.... I don't care anymore and this is my last post directed at you in this thread as I do not enjoy wasting my time on repeating myself and on people that show no respect to others. I'm sure others will follow me on this :) Good luck with your car. Goodbye.
  7. Yes I am polish, any relatives polish on your side or maybe are you polish? @illusivedreams Hate to say this as a new member but really - you're comparing Australian Ford which is a sh*t-box to a Lexus and your mate from Sydney City says something because something - no sense here at all. There is absolutely no quality comparison between those cars. LOL. As Atlantis said - stop mouthing off at everyone here giving you their opinions because nobody is really arguing whatever you want to do. We all say - IF YOU WANT TO / IF YOU CAN BE BOTHERED - DO IT. It is your car and we can only recommend you something or not, we can't tell you to do something or not, nor can the manufacturer. It is your car and do whatever you want so just let it go and stop trying to make a point here because it is a personal preference and "no two drivers or driving / servicing methods are the same". If you don't understand what I've just written and still try to scream over (at least) me, I will simply ignore whatever you write and please - don't think this is an abusive message in any way, it is not. If you ask a question on a forum - be ready to get recommendations / suggestions. Next time I suggest putting a direct question and a disclaimer that you are not interested in anyone else's opinion. That will go down really well. Over and out!
  8. @DANSLEX LOL, like your comment mate (in a positive way). @illusivedreams If you have got the problem with oil being consumed quicker from new - just take it to Lexus and get off your high horse here, we're only trying to give you our thoughts on the subject, not to teach you Mr Expert so relax and use the spell / grammar check next time you write. Thanks.
  9. Hi JML, I've done ~13700 kms when it went for the service but since I bought it as the ex-demo (had 5500 kms when I got it in late June '09), I wanted to service it on-time without any delays to make sure everything is (still) perfect. With respect to your car - wow 1 year and 2700km? I would ring Lexus and check with them really. With my previous car I was doing 2/3 or even 1/2 of the kms I'm doing now and I was actually servicing later, when I was hitting the kms, not the required date (12 months) and the warranty was still good. Suggesting a phone call to Lexus or your dealer directly to verify but please let us know their opinion on that. I certainly would like to know what they say to that.
  10. Hi All, My IS250 had the first service done last week with Lexus of Blackburn and I have to say "THEY ARE GOOD". Picked up my car, brought me the Encore replacement for the time being, very pleasant service, very good car knowledge and support. Started with the booking quite a few weeks ago, I wanted to lock it in so that I don't miss out on this busy period. Left my details on their website, was called the next day to confirm the details and everything went easy, very smooth - would definitely recommend them to every Lexus owner. I will keep this thread updated each time I service the car to keep you Lads and Gents up to date... next one is due in 12 months (or 15000 kms). Any opinions on the dealership / service would help out potential Lexus buyers / owners choose in the selection? Just a thought.
  11. I'm with you on that, 100%. Lexus engineers are not dumb by any means and if they saw an urge to change oil every 5000 kms - they would recommend it. Obviously they checked / tested everything, aimed at best quality and service and came up with 15000 kms interval, which I would not argue. To the Author of this thread - maybe worth checking the "extra" service required? Recently I was looking through the book and saw the requirement for extra service for certain conditions of use. As per previous posts - if you're running a tuned version of the car or some heavy mods - different story but if you don't - sit back and enjoy the car ;)
  12. I would recommend calling Protech Car Care and checking the price with them, they should have a competitive offer too. I did my "car care", including windows tint, leather protection and paint protection for just over a grand but mind you - out of that I think it was about $500 AUD only for the paint protection as I wanted the top product / service so the tint shouldn't be that expensive.
  13. Hi guys, I had my tint done with Protech Car Care in Boronia, very good and pleasant service, top job. 35%.
  14. Hello All, I've been looking at this forum for quite a long while now as it was the source of information prior to my new vehicle purchase... and I bought it in late June - Lexus IS250 My09 Prestige Auto + EMV + MR, black, with stock 6-spoke rims. The modifications - well, close to none really as I'm trying to keep its' original look, not really into turbos/nitros/lowering/fake-xenon lights etc. I've only put the window tint on it, as per VIC road regulations - 35%, paint protection and interior protection (contact me for a good company details and good deals on those after-care products). Anything except for that? Yes will put the red-outs on tail lights as I'm not a great fan of the orange lights... My choice for IS250 was simple - I knew the Lexus brand and service they offer through a few friends of mine around the globe. The IS250 is simply one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen and the amount of gadgets in it - awesome. I was looking at different cars, from the new VW Golf MKVI (the fully optioned TSI), to a 2-3 year old BMW 5 series or a fresh 3-coupe. After spending time with different dealers and reading all the reviews, it struck me - on Toorak Rd, almost every grandma/grandpa/P-plater/restaurant owner/EVERY PERSON has got a BMW or Mercedes. There aren't many Lexus cars, which is good but it wasn't the key factor really. The way the car drives, the quietness, the Mark Levinson audio configuration - it has all got me completely... not sure what else to write, it is the Lexus magic and approach to their customers... just... pure magic. I'm 28, originally from Poland, my name is Bartek and this is my first Lexus. This forum has allowed me to get to know the brand better and I'm happy to be here.
