  1. I've been running my DBA T2 Slotted Rotor and EBC Greenstuff combo for over one year, appox 15000Km now.

Personally, I don't feel much difference in braking perfomance against the OEM one, maybe just a little bit better when the brake pads warm up. But it does generate a lot less brake dust than OEM.

At start, the combo made hell lot of squeaking noise for the first 1000km, I abosulately hate it. But slowly faded away after applied some Bendix brake lubricant and no more squeaking after run in.

IMHO, unless you take your car to race track, or do some heavy braking test, I don't think you'll notice any difference between the Greenstuff, Redstuff or CT.

Just choose the colour you like. LOL

  2. Hey mate, good to see you DIY the oil change. I bought the exact wrench from amazon not long agao after numerous online research.

The Assenmacher is most recommended one, apparently all the other ones are lower quality and worn out after a few use.

As tony mentioned, having a oil filter wrench makes thing a lot easier to un-do the filter housing. I think this is be best money I ever spent for my car and you can use for a long time.

So which engine oil you using? and where did you bought your oil filter?

  3. Thanks for the advice Carl!

100K is already the highest km car I ever owned, usually I change to a younger car before reach that, but I guess this time the IS is a keeper.

Funny thing is, after the major 90K service, I'm acutally getting better milages with the thicker oil (10W40). I used to only get less than 500Km per tank, but now it's at least 550Km each tank.

I think I'll try 5w30 this time, may be Mobil 1

You might wana check out their eBay store see what else they have.

I have no affiliation with them, just giving my fellow club members a heads-up.

  5. OK, my beloved car has just ticked over the monumental 100K km mark, and it's going strong than ever. No major issues what so ever through out the life, true Toyota relibility there.

The only minor issue I've noticed lately is the "low engine oil" light is coming up a lot sooner than before. For my last two oil change services, the light came up after only travelled 6000km out of the recommended 15000km service interval. I had to top up about 1 to 2 Lites of engine oil just so it can last until the next service.

I know Toyota engines in general, espically car in this age tends to chew thru engine oil faster. ---> Result of 3 hours of research on various Toyota/Lexus/IS forums.

This issue is also has been verified by the Lexus service centre guys and treated as a normal behavior.

Now, since I'm going to do DIY oil change from now on, I'm interested to see which Engine Oil and Oil Type/Grade you guys using or been told to use?

On the OEM Oil Cap -> 5W30

Chatwood Lexus Recommend -> 10w40 (better engine protection with this thicker oil?)

Chatwood service manager told me they use -> Caltex Engine Oil

Fuel Economy -> 550KM Full Tank

There are similar topics covered on the U.S forums, but I don't think it's applicable here as we have a warmer climate.

Especially love to hear feedbacks from high KM ISX50 owners.

Also, for people want to learn more about engine oil and the differences between types/grades, read here:

  6. Boys,

I need to get rid of this last set of mid-pipe.

Going cheap for $390, you can get all info on the invidia midpipe in the original group buy thread.

    http://au.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/11352-group-buy-invidia-is250350-mid-pipe/

If you thinking doing up the exhaust system, this will be great starting mod. Most of the "what is for", "how does it sound", "where to install" questions are answered in the thread.

Consider the current high USD vs AUD rate, this is what the U.S guys are selling for before the shipping cost.

I'll put this on eBay next week if not sold then.

    LAST ONE SOLD!!!!

  7. Driven my mates MY11 E90 320i, it's very underpowered and underequiped for the price. He also driven my 6yrs old IS250 and he can't beleive just how better on everything my car is.

At the end of the day, we live in an increasingly materialised society, people are more conscious on brands that can give them a "better" image.

In some Asian cultures it's even worse, the car you drive becomes an explicit status symbol, hence those under-educated uni kids show-off their over-priced vanilla bimmers.

I have great respect on BMW, but I'd take IS over a South Africa built 320i anyday.

If it's the 335i then it might be a different story...

  8. Bit of a conundrum. Used IS-F's are starting to approach new IS 350 prices. Discuss...

I presume you talking about the 2014 IS350...

    Easy Choice:

You want ultimate speed machine, old school V8 and not really care about the aging interior then go with an used IS-F.

You want a fast car, modem look, fresher interior, and host of new tech features then the new IS350 for sure.

  9. Sounds exciting, always want to do a big road trip around this beautiful country but never had the time and the right people...

The most I did in my IS250 is a 10hr 900km drive from Sydney to Melbourne then back again, and I will NEVER do that again. Not because of the car, but because of the utter waste of time on the freeway and the scorching high petrol price, Jetstar would've be way cheaper and faster!

Nevertheless, the IS is actually quite comfortable on long haul, as long as it's on the tarmac. Not sure if it can handle the dirt/off road consider the low front bumper ground clearance.

IMHO, if you want to get the most adventure out of the trip, best to hire a 4x4.

  10. Congrats Mark!

IMHO, the F-Sport is definitely the best pick on the current generation of IS.

The X (Limited Edition) is a prestige model with great value bundled extras. It's Lexus's fancy way to get rid of the old stocks in order to make way for the new IS.

The 2014 IS is due in a few month, hence the massive price slash on all current generation IS.

Did the sales person tell you this bit?

  11. 1. Are you sure it wasn't a thunder strike you saw? :D There is a few lighting bolts going around tonight.

    2. Red light camera should never flash you if you stop behind the line.

    3. In NSW, all fixed camera can only flash you from your rear. (I think there is nsw legislation somewhere says that to prevent people getting blinded by the flash.)

Chances are it could just be a camera gone random spastic, worst to worst just complain to the NSW State Debt Recovery Office if you get the fine. The camera photo alone should be enough to do the justice for you.

  12. OK, as I had received a few low ball offers... I'll take a financial lost hit by further cutting the price down $20 each.

Now remember, I brought these into the country with my own money upfront for the benefit of all bro here on this forum... not making a single f&%k cent out of it.

    So please no ridiculous offers!

Last brand new set for $420. And a slightly trial fitted one for $380.

I guess no more organizing group buy from me. Consider the amount of time and effort I put in this club... very disappointed!
