  1. The shape of things to come from L.

Hey Lexo your statement is possibly more accurate than you realise.

Its fair to say the 3rd Gen IS will more closely resemble this than the pictures posted in the IS25/35 section by LEX51S.

The grill design shown on the GS concept will be addopted accross the Lexus range to give all models a similar look. It has the outer edge sloping inwards from the top then back outwards on both sides. Although not as dramatic as shown below on the concept car, this grill design will appear in the next facelift of the current models as well.

  2. My wife has taken it out this afternoon and she's somewhat intimidated by the car's functions given that she's technically challenged

Stephen congrats on the new car

Your sales rep should have offered you a follow up or 2nd lesson. Taking the 2nd lesson is probably a good idea for your wife, & yourself to get the most out of the features of your new car. Its better than trying to read the massive owners manual.

  3. In case you missed it, I don't agree with you.

No...didn't miss it defnk. I think its good that there are posts disagreeing...as I said at the end of my original post.

Its the ones that don't agree that I wanted to read...to get another point of view.

    You said

Post out of generosity, willingness to help others, wanting others to learn from your experiences, from the goodness of your heart, NOT because you want something back.

Post because you want this community to flourish and be open to new members

and I agree 100%. What you have said above is what the forum is about. Putting in to the forum is what makes it a good forum. So on that you & I have the same thoughts, especially being open to new members. You are a new member & by posting your disagreement you're contributing. Its great.

Its only the people that sign up for a day or so....one or a few post totally price related that annoy me. They are the ones that want something but don't put back in. Kind of your point too.

Mate really appreciate your point of view and I don't think its as different to mine as may seem....maybe just not expressed as well by me.

360 my gripe wasn't about new members not contributing, its only about the ones that join & disappear, and just that its happened a bit lately.

You point out new members may not have much to contribute. You have been a member for 3 weeks and your post above is the kind of input that makes a good forum. Alternate views and opinions so cheers.

Perthlexy that fact that you have posted in this thread proves you are not the type of new member I'm referring too. I get the feeling you'll be around for a while. As I said in my PM too you...we want photos of your new ride once you get it.

  4. I need to vent so bear with me guys, please.

I love this forum as there are some great people on here and it's great seeing the exchange of knowledge. The forum is expanding and some great new members getting on board as can be seen by the size of the last meet....not happy I couldn't get there.

However I feel that we a being taken for a ride by a small number of people that sign up and on there first post start their own thread "Hey whats the cheapest price" etc. Only never to post up again.

    Examples:

    http://au.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10026&st=15

This thread was started by wb.47... 6 posts in one day about price later...he hasn't been back since. Are you guys cool with this?

In the same thread thegismo asked for a copy of someone's sales contract. This on its own is alarming. Nobody has met him at a meet, or knows anything about him. He asks for a sales contract containg someones address & personal info...his only 4 posts ever were in this thread and were about trying to get the confidential details of someones purchase. Are you guys cool with this?

    http://au.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10023

Canlex started this thread... posted up the used car he was buying and what price. One post..one day...hasn't been back since. Are you guys cool with this?

    http://au.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10039

In this thread started by a nice new member Weejock, he talks about his new CT200h he is waiting for...then post later with some feedback about his experience. Contributing nicely to the forum. Along comes DUY to this thread and first post BAM "if you don't mind, how much did you pay for it"...nice. Oh also his only post.

Most of the members here are repeat Lexus owners and enthusiast of the brand...your loyalty & knowledge should entitle you to get the very best deals possible....I don't think its right that "non contributors" should sign up once and get the same deal as you guys can get. Then never come back.

That is definitely us being taken for a ride.

Apologies for the rant...especially if you don't agree with me....which you're entitled to do.

I'd love to hear other forum members opinion.

  5. if you don't mind, how much did you pay for it and which dealer you're getting it from? I'm also interested in getting one :)

    Nice first post. Welcome.

So many people signing up here lately and on their first post asking "Hey what did you pay for your car" or "What the cheapest price I can get?"

    Then they never come back.

  6. hello fellow lexus owners. The VIP club at lexus is very hard to get into. It's for customers who spend "alot" of $$$$$$, top execs from Aust top 50 companies, Lexus/Toyota big wigs here and overseas and for celebs. I know people who are very high up at Toyota, they got tickets to enter the Lexus marquee on melbourne cup day, this came about because alot of VIPs couldn't attend. I don't think that dealers even get a look in. thats my 2 cents.....

Thanks for that insight into the ways of the Lexus VIP invite list, so I guess not many everyday customers got an invite then.

In their mind I guess there is method to their madness but for me it is not so good.

At least the post got a few comments in the ISF part of the forum LOL

Blacky I can give some insight here.

The F1 was a marketing tool for the CT200h....not a customer event. As a marketing tool for the CT200h some FMO's(Fleet management) where there to see the car. Most of them don't drive Lexus themselves but sell plenty of them.

It was also the first look at the LF-A for those that have a LARGE deposit down and are waiting for one. We're only talking a handful of people. I know one of these people personally and spoke to him after he was in the LF-A..."blown away" was his comment.

Kay8 there was no customer VIP invite list for this event.

    As for F1 next year??

I don't think Lexus will be there next year... a certain new Toyota sports car may fill the celebrity race next year.

  7. Blacky rattles can be a tricky thing to eliminate for a techn.

They may have to try several possible fixes on different potential rattle culprits. So give them another go but ring and ask for the service manager and explain it to him, not the sales exec. Don't go off at him as he may not even know of your problem yet. By contacting the service manager and involving him I think you will get a better result, especially as it is their second attempt.

If you still don't have any luck let me know and I will PM you some details to help you out.

    Cheers

  8. Hi Poisson,

I just went to after reading this. Thought I'd build myself a CT200h F-Sport in Solar Flare with a moonroof.

No dramas. I did click a wrong model at the start....my bad.

It seems pretty simple. Its an improvement on the old site IMO.

What were your issues with it????

  9. Some people just want to get good deal in Sydney for IS350. I don't think dealer would waste time on this forum

go see a chap @ sydney city lexus his name jake

    good guy to deal with

Yes ilv I've heard he's a great guy. 12years with Lexus... The best service but a tough negotiator :D I've heard he wants to see photos of your new beast. Have you got an "F" cap to go with it?

There are no factory bonuses on the IS350, it's still only been out less than a year. Plus with the stop on production in Japan, availabilty may become a problem. This may affect the level of discounting. If you're buying do it soon or later in the year you may have to wait.

    thegismo....you have PM

  10. SPOTTED!!

silver dumped IS250 with intake, midpipes and greddy axle back, isF tail lights, big brakes and DRL's on 18's doing skids in auburn, parramatta rd chasing a classy 212 black on black my09 isF with US spec taillights doing skids and struggling to find grip. ;)

Hey LEX51S.....the IS-F is lucky you weren't in you're work truck or he would've got smoked........

At least you being in the 2fiddy made it a fair fight.lol... :D
