  1. When you say "new" RX, I assume you mean the RX350 ? You can't swap the Nav screen from the 350 to the 330 (dealer told me). The "new" 350 ML head unit (with the DVD player) is also incompatible with the 330. The 350s have completely different Nav/Audio/rear camera software and hardware to the 330. I've had plenty of 350 courtesy cars, and I hate the new guide screen on the reverse camera......much easier to focus on what you're trying to look at without them cluttering the screen.
  2. FWIW, it's not the "paint" that's soft, it's the clearcoat. It's soft to absorb small chips and nicks - but the weakness is it scratches easily.
  3. 1993 v 1995 Head Units / Audio / CD Changer are not compatible.
  4. Sounds like a private Japanese Celsior Import to me. All Oz-delivered cars are supposed to have the child restraint anchors installed.
  5. The Beep when the tailgate opens / closes can be turned off by your Lexus Dealer. The luggage cover will stop rattling if you lock it in place (so that it doesn't slide open automatically when the tailgate opens).
  6. You're welcome Dicky (not sure what the :P was for though ) If you really want to go all out, buy yourself a Brembo big brake kit - I bought a Harrier magazine about 2 years ago from the Kinokuniya bookstore in Singapore (yes, it's in Japanese, no I can't read Japanese, but the pictures are nice :P ) and there are heaps of Harriers / RXs in there with 22 inch rims and Brembo brakes. Lots of ricey stuff in that mag as well.....but hang on, we can't call it "rice" anymore, they're "VIP" cars ;) Bendix pads might be an option, but I had a bad experience with a Bendix Ultimate pad / DBA slotted rotor combo on my Subaru Outback - the Ultimates seem to be very harsh on rotors, and I was always having to have them machined until I finally junked them for the OEM pads and rotors.....no problems since.
  7. I can't really help you as I've never ever had any complaints about the braking performance of my RX330. About 10,000km ago my Lexus dealer machined all 4 discs and replaced all 4 pads, and the brakes have been awesome since. In fact, I think the brakes have more "bite" in my car than the low km RX350 courtesy cars I've had when my car is at service. My service manager also tells me Lexus are bringing out a lower dust pad for the RX, because too many owners are complaining of excessive brake dust. I ain't going to use it - less brake dust = harder brake compound = less stopping power. And if you're a heavy braker, get used to changing pads frequently - my dealer said one owner changed pads after 15,000km. Nothing much seems to go wrong with the RX, but because of the weight they carry, they chew through brakes and tyres quickly.......
  8. Another option is Megs Endurance High Gloss Gel http://www.meguiars.com.au/productdetail_2...cat=&show=1 Great finish, but I don't like the way it "slings" when applied - use it sparingly.
  9. I had an MY07 350 Sport Luxury as a loaner about 3 weeks ago while my 330 was in for its 50,000km service. Biggest difference IMO between the 350 and 330 is the gear ratios - they are way too short in the 330, especially 1 st gear. I don't like the guidlines they have introduced for the rear camera, it makes it difficult to see what the camera is actually looking at (I want to see where I'm going, not some stupid lines in the Nav screen). Bluetooth would be nice......I was going to get my dealer to install a kit for me, but he told me that the kit for my phone (Nokia N95) hasn't been perfected yet, and too many owners are having problems with dropouts, can't connect to the phone, interferes with the Nav system, etc etc. Some have even had the kit removed. It was 25 degrees outside when I had the 350, so the heated seats were useless............ I think the grill was different to mine (honestly, I didn't notice), and um, I think the plastic in the indicator stalk is also different. Honestly, apart from the engine, there's not too much difference between the 330 and 350 ;) And BTW, I think the "AFS Off" switch if for the Adaptive Front Headlights........
  10. They will be displayed on the Yokohama website if you do a search by size (225/65/17 4WD / SUV). They are also shown in the current Yokohama catalogue.
  11. I can help - Do what I did and throw the Michelins in the bin and replace them with Yokohama Geolander H / T-S G051 in the stock 225/65/17 size. Road noise and wet grip in much better than the LX4s, and most importantly, they are $275 per tyre instead of $420 per tyre for the Michelin ;) http://www.yokohama.com.au/ourtyres/tyre.aspx?tyreid=71
  12. Well, that's news to me, as my Lexus dealer (not Melbourne City Lexus) told me it's still available.
  13. Huh ? Who told you that ? Lexus have their own DVD system available as an accessory for the RX : http://www.melbcitylexus.com.au/default.cf...p;productid=561 Contact your dealer for more info - there are also details on the system in the Oz RX brouchure.
  14. I received 3 (main) keys, but was told new Lexus are only delivered with 2, and the previous owner of my car purchased another key later on from the dealer.
  15. Hi Taycon, Haven't really noticed any reflections, but I haven't had the opportunity to drive head on into the sun yet.
  16. I just picked up my December 2003 RX330 Sport Luxury on Monday - Magnetic Blue with Ivory. Still with 1 year factory warranty remaining, + 1 extra year Encore warranty. Only 42,000km on the clock. In mint condition. I'm liking the car more and more each time I drive it - I looked (and drove) the new MY07 Subaru Outback 3.0R Premium, but went for the "Rex" when I realised I could get it for the same price. The interior has more than ample room, the seats are comfy, the Mark Levinson stereo is excellent, the snat nav is actually quite handy, and it's nowhere near as annoying to drive in city traffic / parking as I thought it would be. My rear cargo blind does not rattle, not a single wheel has been "curbed", and the original Michelin tyres still look to be in good condition (running them at 36psi). I'm a bit surprised that the tyre size is unusual - from what I can see, it's Michelin or nothing as far as replacements go.....
