  1. Not 100% sure if you are getting confused or not, but.... xenons are already white. Halogens have a yellowish beam. D4S are xenon type bulbs. H11 are halogen type bulbs. With that info, care to update what you are after?
  2. As I posted above, I don't think there is a point of getting it certified. Doubt this will ever get pick up on as you can see from the pictures all the engine covers and bay covers are still on. lol, I don't think you quite get the point 360. There is a difference in cost associated with it, and the fact that he will be unique rather than all those bland 350 owners. I don't think you quite get what the OP is after here with regards to the argument that everyone would SC it instead of a 350. And I get that you don't understand it, and you are merely just shedding your beliefs on the subject. But the fact of the matter is that not everyone is happy to go through the pain in the bum process of getting a SC and installing it and stuff. For me... I don't have time to do this sort of tinkering, so its impossible. You are also speaking from the perspective that he can simply sell his car for 28k even though he may have paid that a year ago, its only worth 24k now. That to him might be a bigger pain. You might get heated at what I have posted above, and that fine. I will leave it at that, and reply no more to this post. Thanks for everyones 2c. p.s. good luck with it mate!
  3. haha sorry this forum is getting really off topic. But its natural to wonder off topic right? Atlantis, I wouldn't worry about that unless you are adding a hunk of weight or you are tracking it. Im pretty sure right now he isn't at the limit of his brakes already. I've driven a 250 on many occasion, and think damn those brakes are powerful. The only thing i can predict is fade under repeated use, which is impossible on the streets (kind of lol). If you are really worried... Pad upgrade will do... which is two in one... bit more power, bit less dust! 360, read above posts. But I believe that Danny says that it 11k get you everything installed. This include install. Also, stock 350 vs SC 250... SC 250 please. More power mate. 350's aren't very powerful and not very fast. I think the perspective for him/her is... Umm should I pay more for less power? Or less for more power?
  4. All valid, cause you know it will be bullet proof if you get a 350. But supercharging will give good power, more than the 350. The 350 isn't fast, so you if you can get more power from a 250 then I think thats a good thing. Force induction is always more fun.
  5. Just custom weld one on to the flange they give you? Sorry, I might just be talking out of my ass lol. But yes wait for their reply...
  6. I like the idea of doing an engine swap, cause they actually don't seem that hard to do for this car (relative of course!). The only problem is that you need to find a good condition engine. Which is bloody hard these days!
  7. Just make sure you have all the covers on... Who cares about legality. Seriously the popo don't really care about lexus drivers. Lexus cars are boring old people's family car :) On the actual topic, I'm not aware of anyone doing any supercharging on this side of the world. But I do wish you do it lol. It will be totally cool, and you would be the first in australia! Do you have any idea of how much the kit costs?
  8. All modern cars do. Atlantis... i've been trying to good stuff about it.. Can you point me to what you are talking about?
  9. Do you mean it can't control the direct injection? Direct and port are two different things. If you meant direct, and the port can be in fact be manipulated with an ECU, that okay to gain power. The direct injection is used at low revs (cause at lower revs you need higher pressure injectors etc etc for fuel economy). But when you are on the power in the up highs, it uses port injection.
  10. Are there any full ECU replacements? If so, point me to it! I imagine that is the only way to get power.
  11. The 5L engine in the ISF is actually the same engine as the V8 engine in the LS460, which i believe is the same engine in the GS460. "Oh but the engine capacity is different? what the hell?" Well the IS250 engine is the same engine as the GS350. If you know what i mean :)
  12. So I was reading that the new GS350 has the ability to blip on the down shifts and that the shifts are much faster (does it hold gears? or is it a stupid ass gear limiter thing that we have, which is the most stupid thing to man kind). Given that these two are running essentially the same engine and gear box, I was wondering if anyone knows if this would be something possible to have put on our old machines. I've spoken to my tuner a bit about the topic and he says it is likely to be possible if there is a separate gearbox ecu. Does anyone know if the ECU is a all in one unit? Or is it separated out to engine, gearbox, mainframe. Or a combination of anything. I know this is a massive wanky thing to have. But this is something wanky that i want :) Why? Well the other day I was on the freeway when I wanted to overtake a truck. Dropped 3 cogs, and this sudden BARRRP sound was enticing.
  13. Yup, thanks for the back up. 10k (all up) for 60hp? lol I'd rather not. If you want the power get the GS460. Great engine... really really great. Its essentially the same engine as the IS-f minus the yamaha badge.
  14. I'm not even sure headers are going to do all that much. I think you will need to start opening up the engine before you get much. Porting maybe? Cams if they have any? Even a supercharger gives like 40hp (or 40kw? can't remember). Talked to my tuner, he says by the looks of the engine design, its designed for high compression ratio, (might want to double check cause not sure if he is right) but cause of the suspected high compression ratio... turbo is a bit annoying to do. In summary, the 350 is basically running as good as its going to get. You are better off getting a 2jz or something put in... cheaper and more power.
  15. sam: If you are getting this problem while driving high speed, then yes something is pretty wrong! Get it fixed immediately. I think it may also depend on the setup. I've actually had a panic phone call from a mate once on this issue. He got his rotors machined, and got his new track pads put in. On the way home half the trip was fine, until he had to emergency brake. FAIL lol... no "full" braking force. I told him how to bed them in, and it was fine from there on.
  16. haha very cool! Just make sure you don't let you garmin get pinched. (I think its a garmin?) Is it lockable?
  17. They do a proper bed in process from factory. I've had to do it for a track brake set up. But essentially it's driving with the brakes engaged for some period of till they get pretty hot (not to the point they glow or anything, or till they warp... kind of guess work)
  18. Yep, direct injection mate. Ever wondered why a diesel sounds like a diesel? And an IS sounds like a diesel?
  19. Woah woah hold on... you put new rotors and new pads on at the same time on the fronts? This is a well known no no as it interfere with bedding process. sorry thats off topic, cause I don't think it causes vibrations, but more so bad braking feel and power.
