  1. Oh whoops, you were right. I just realised that the black panel where the clock is, is the place to change the map disc. Is it hard to remove? You should have the included tools in the boot of your car. It's easy to remove. Yes the tool is in the tool kit, or a good quality tool pick, don't force it - it just clicks out if you get it right. If you haven't the instructions as in the second manual book (the one for sat nav) then just Google the instructions.
  2. Yes I agree, a Lexus Service is a Lexus Service and even though prices may vary slightly and I mean slightly, why change from your point of purchase. If the price is very different then approach Sutherland and ask why, Lexus is renowned for they high level of customer service (I mean customer service not car service, anyone can change the oil filter and oil)
  3. Hi Tony, Just ask for a 100% Synthetic oil like Mobil 1, 5W-30 if you want the best, if you are paying for the service then you my need to contribute to the upgrade. The service manual states Oil Grade 5W-30 (Preferred) and 10W-30, unfortunately it takes 6.3L and I have to purchased 2 x Mobil 1 in 5 litre, Lexus returned the balance to me to be used in the next service.
  4. I think it is to do with the smooth steering, the steering may be slightly harder with the 235. A friend had fitted 8.5" non standard rims on the front and had rubbing issues together with heavy steering, the tyre people say to keep the tyre 225/40/R18 x 8" on the front but able to fit 9.5" rims on the back with suitable tyres to fit the rim.
  5. For my last service, Lexus loaned me a new IS250, tyres on the front and back were 225/40/R18 Yokahamas I think but the rim protector was a ridge that protruded at least 8mm from the rim, so if you lightly brushed a kerb that would protect the rim, my friend has a new Senator with Continental tyres on and they have arum protector on as well. Lexus of Perth have recommended that the Pirelli P1 have the best rim protector but the rears only come in 245/40/R18 not 255/40/R18.
  6. I thought HDD navigation only appeared in the IS in 2013 (yes, towards the end of the life of the second facelift)? In any case ... WhereIS suggests that their Lexus navigation updates apply to all Lexus vehicles. Even if we assume their Website is a little out of date and doesn't apply to HDD navigation, we can safely say that a Lexus DVD-based navigation disc will fit all Lexus models with DVD-based navigation. I have an 2010 IS250 came new in 2010 with WhereIS V17 DVD Disk, I have since bought WhereIS V18 and inserted myself, now will skip V19 and wait for the release of V20. I had given the old WhereIS V17 DVD Disk to family with a Toyota Landcruiser Sahara and it works fine in there.
  7. The 225/40/18 x 8" is correct fitment, so the KU22 has a rim protector but doesn't show on you rim, even my KU31 without rim protectors protude slightly more from the rim, just make sure you haven't an 8.5" rim on the front. What is the point of having the rims protectors then? I haves attached a photo of my wheel with the KU31 (it is the back but the front is the same).
  8. Nice to have someone in Perth, you have a very rare manual with looks like current wheels. I don't know how Lexus IS members get together without disclosing private details. It is alway nice to compare cars.
  9. I am starting to worry now because I am getting Kuhmo KU22 225/40/18 x 8" FRONT and the reason is because they have a rim protection (the existing Kuhmo KU31 225/40/18 x 8" have no rim protection) so do you think I should now choose Kuhmo KU22 235/40/18 x 8". The Pirelli P1 is the best for rim protection but the cost is much more.
  10. Hi Tony, In Perth we have only one Lexus dealership for the whole of WA, and they supply an excellent service, hence there is no comparison available with another Lexus dealership in WA. The other option is to service at a Toyota dealership which there are many, I am guessing this could be half the cost. Did you manage to get your prices, my next service is at 35,000kms and I am seriously thinking of getting it done at Toyota if the cost service is 50%. Therefore Lexus $600 versus Toyota $300. I have had the first 3 services for FREE at Lexus (one per year) - this was part of the new car deal package, now I have to pay for forthcoming services.
  11. Hi all, You guys are lucky to have such a following on the east coast, are they any Perth enthusiasts that would like to get together to compare cars and mods, any age group, any model IS200 or IS250 (any Lexus enthusiasts in Perth)
  12. I know how you feel, I have brushed my rims by trying to be too carefull (17" not 18") Its good to have Perth member, I was beginning to think I was the only member in Perth to the club.
