RX400h high fuel consumption

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I've got a 2007 RX400h with about 240,000kms on the clock, regularly serviced.

My fuel consumption is quite high, usually at around 12.5l/100kms.

I recently had the batteries checked and cleaned to ensure there were not dead cells/overheating issues. The battery is operating at 60%, with no battery issues.

What consumption numbers are others getting?

Any ideas on what I can do to improve the fuel economy?

Thanks,

Nick

1. Clean the MAF sensor

2.Check the air cleaner

3. Check the condition of the plugs

4. Be gentle with the throttle

I do double check almost everything after a service and most of the time find things are not properly done specially with the dealer. air filter clips are undone, oil is not all the way to the top level are only few things to mention.

Hi Nick,

My 2007 400h records around 9.3 - 10.5 l/100km.  the lower consumption is highway/touring.  I try to be careful with wide throttle as it can greatly reduce the efficiency.

ODO reading on my car is 155K with original hybrid battery.

Hi,

Yes, mines still getting 12.5l/100kms, which is a bit dissapointing. All city driving.

I'm going to get the items jxx mentioned above checked when I get my next service done.

Nick
