yldbil
Hey guys, Just bought a 2nd hand prestige IS250 Manual in Silver... Now what I want to gather is the absolute must mods and your recommendations.... So Interior, Exterior, Drivetrain etc.. I pick up the car on Friday... looking to do something with the headlights as they arn't Xenon's i'll be popping into Autobarn to get some Hyperwhite or blue bulbs to change over to.. Also rear lights i dont think they are LED stock.. so will be looking to change them as well. Should i be getting rear clear lights sticking with the red or other? Wouldnt mind a front lip... umm also interior map lights looking to change over also... Just to give you a bit of history.. i used to have a Mazda 3 that was very unique... also was smashed by a truck... ive posted the pics of my mazda that i modded.. DANSLEX
Not much that can be done about performance unfortunately. However look wise it can be improved. Bit of a kit, and better rims will go a long way (as long as tastefully done). Please DO NOT buy any crappy Hyperwhite or blue bulbs from Autobarn/Supercheap/etc. You'll only cheapen the car if you get them! Get a proper HID kit! Most will set you back a few hundred bucks but it looks mint! It will also lighten up the road a lot better, and will look a million dollars, as opposed to cheap. All cars with cheap blue bulbs look like crap! Do it once, do it right. It's a Lexus, not a Hyundai :) Rear lights are LED. Why do you want to change the interior map reading lights? They are LEDs already. The normal interior light would probably need changing to LEDS though.
yldbil
ahhh i c... i didnt know they were LED's already.... i'll check out some HID kits then.... thanks Once i pick up the car ill put some pics up...
FrankyX
Congrats on the purchase. Couldn't agree more with danslex - HID all the way. I changed all my interior lights to white LED, but have since changed back as the light output was pretty poor and was hurting my eyes. Plus it looked a bit like a railway station loo. First up suggestions; HID, rims, kit, tint, ISF tail-lights (not too keen on the clear LED). Good luck with it all and look forward to seeing the pics. cevu
congrats on the purchase! agree with everyones comments regarding the lights! HID ftw! however, u can pick up a set off ebay for less than 100 shipped and despite ppl saying u get what u pay for i've been running a set for 3 years+ without a glitch and its just a cheapie HID set. Not one person i've come across has noticed otherwise and that includes a few members here :-) looks wise, theres plenty to be done! again, agreeing with everyone else. it should be tasteful! not sure what model you have the older ones such as mine do not have LED tail lights, hence the reason i changed mine! map lights are already LED as stated, interiors need to be changed out to LED to complete the look! i did it to mine and if you buy the right bulbs the light output is superior to stock! cheapest mods to do first are changing out the lights, hids, interior etc than an intake to give it some sound or: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/performanc...-i-drilled.html with a drop in filter: blitz, k&n etc that should do you for a while than you can start looking into various other bits and pieces depending on which route u wanna go: performance, handling, looks, etc Performance: JoeZ Intake Pipe / PTS Dual Exhaust / Tanabe Exhaust / HKS Exhaust / Greddy Exhaust / Invidia MidPipes Handling: Coilover Kits / F-Sport Shocks/Springs / F-Sport Sway Bars Looks: GFX BodyKit, INGS BodyKit, Boot Lip The above are just a few of the available options and may or may not suit you, but those are the ones that came to mind as thats what ive looked at in the past! Bartek
Suggesting a GFX kit, window tint, HID lights and IS-F rear lights. No extra mods, really, there is no need to IMO. The Mazda you owned (ouch with the accident, hope you're OK!) looks good but... it is a Mazda, not a Lexus. It is just my personal preference and I don't want to start another flame-war here about if you should transform it into F&F car or not. If you want to rice-up your car, get a rice-up-spec car, not a Lexus as it starts looking a bit cheap with those funny mods (please stay away from Supercheap Auto blue bulbs LOL). Anyway... my 5c worth, do whatever you feel like, we won't try to stop you even if you put Playboy bunny seat covers on it with pink neon lights and a big "cock" sticker on the back windshield (but some may say THEY DON'T KNOW YOU LOL). The wheels look good - 18''? Not my cup of tea, spoiling the quality of ride but it may suit others. Good luck with mods and I hope to get a reply to my PM ;)
