  1. Looks like it is getting close. They have changed their webpage, and in sundays car section it was the frontpage picture and a two page review. Hope i get to have a play with one when they get to perth.
  2. The plastic covering on the Lexus logo is only on the models with the adaptive cruise control and pre-collision sensor. It houses radar and laser. The ones with a blue hue on the lexus logo are the hybrids
  3. Recently purchased is250 at lexus of perth. My partner had her old toyota echo detailed and touched up there over weekend. She passed away yesterday unexpectately Today lexus deliverered her non-lexus car home, with bouqet of flowers and condolensces card by our salesman John and the manager. They refused to let me pay for the work done on her car. I am touched that they have been so caring in a difficult time. Thankyou John and Duncan from lexus of perth
  4. at Westpoint Star mercedes wherei get my other car serviced they have a large window in the tea/coffee room where you can watch them do the services if you feel like it. Even the mechanics wearing a blue uniform are spotless. Never seen such a clean mechanic shop. At lexus...their service place is under the shop, and seems off access to customers like they are hiding something.
  5. At mercedes service A is $450 and service B $750. They also provide a loan car but you have to drop your car in and pick up their car. When I had finance on the car they always seemed to give nice E300, ML500, S class, I even got an C32 AMG 2nd hand one once. As soon as I paid off the debt in full, I noticed they would give crappy A and B class base models and suddenly went over the car with a fine tooth comb and made you sign a waiver with a $2000 excess if any damage occured. Never got any complimentary services with merc, the warranty is only 3 yrs, and they did a token wash. Sound like lexus do a better deal...well find out when my 1st service is due in 14000km
  6. Are there any recommendations running in the engine on the is250? I asked the dealer and he pretty much said you can thrash it from day 1. I remember distinctly when I got the merc 3 yrs back they told me to do a combination of short, intermediate and long drives, dont rev above 6000rpm or use the tiptronic until past 5000km. I am at 988km on the lexus so far and have only opened it up once or twice in sports mod redlining it prior to buying it...I dont know whether to believe the dealer, or drive it easy for the first few thousand kms. any comments?
  7. Hi, I thought the brake dust on my 19" AMG wheels on my merc made a lot of dust, but nothing compared to the new IS250. They are 17" wheels OEM sports luxury with 10 spokes and a pain to clean. Anyone know of a good brake dust product that maybe reduces it 'sticking' to the wheel otherwise I'll be forever cleaning the front wheels (or not using the brakes :) )
  8. Hi, I recently purchased a 2008 IS250 sports luxury. I was lead to believe it has "bi xenon" headlights and AFS lights. At low beam there is no doubt they are xenon HID and I can see the beams move while driving if I turn when AFS is enabled. Going to high beam, the light on the road is a lot more yellow (looks like conventional headlights) and I can't really tell if the beams still operate as AFS. At the front, the outter bulbs look like xenon bulbs...but the two inner globes look like standbard bulbs. Is it true to say that there are only xenon lights are low beam, and when high beam is on, it uses the other bulbs? and does AFS get disabled? You never notice these things before buying as it is usually during the day. Regards
  9. Lexus of Perth do free service for the first two years of the cars life regardless how many km you do in that time. So min of 2 free services or up to 4 if you do 60000km in that time.
  10. Thought about getting the f-sport exhaust from the US? Looks nice - probably pretty expensive though. I would love to get the f-sport lower springs, exhaust, air intake, and crossbars etc. I think the engine case is a bit of a rip off though. The perforated disc brakes look nice too. Wonder if anyone stocks these in australia yet as it would cost a mint to freight them here.
  11. Any idea when these changes are due. My dealer "promised" that no changes we due until 2011. I will be pretty pissed if they do make a change less than a yr after buying my car like they did with my c class merc after also being promised model revisions only happen every 5 yrs. 11 months later a new c class got released and made my model drop in value :(
  12. that turtle ice stuff is good? i've seen it but haven't met anyone whos used it. would you recommend it? I found it was the only product that got sunburnt reticulation calcium spots off my black/blue merc. That plus homebrand vinegar. The wax also claims you can do it in sunlight. I still do it in shade however...seems to get a good finish. I've only used it twice on the new lexus which is silver - finish still looks like a mirror.
  13. I used soapy water then armor all chamois, then some product call turtle Ice liquid claybar and ICE liquid polish, with a microfibre cloth. It came up nicely - even got the calcium carbonate water stains from when my reticulation water got on my car. Car is silver. Much easier to keep clean compared to my old tanzanite blue/black mercedes
  14. I want to get the darkest legal tint on my IS250 SL. Was wondering if it will have any negative impact on the radio reception. Also anyone know of a place in perth to mod the satnav/dvd to work while driving? I do long trips with my partner, who would love to watch a movie going down south to margaret river.
  15. My dealer claims the is-f will be priced around 150k aus. They already have 22 on order for clients very keen to get hold of one. I have an IS250 sports luxury, no mods as yet. age 33. Pretty happy with the IS250, prior car was C200k with AMG sports kit. The merc still handled better on cornering etc, but the lexus is definately more luxurious. - to get all the options on the lexus on the C series merc with a V6 engine was going to cost around $170k so lexus is excellent value for money...just doesnt have the "brand name of a european car"
  16. i got v14 a few weeks back. Worked fine - After going to the effort of ejecting the original disc I found that it was also v14. So I wasted my time. Once you unrar the file make sure you write it at a slow speed ie 4x on a dual layer dvd. Hardest bit was getting the face plate off with the two pin tools in the tool kit. I was worried about pushing too hard...once you get if off and see it is just metal clips that need to be bent flat to get the face place off it is pretty hard to damage anything. Now waiting for version 15 to come out
  17. You can also get the dealer to set: Park brake - all doors unlock Drive/Reverse - all doors lock I found changing to that was useful after just coming from a merc c200k where all doors are locked on driving, but if anyone opens a door, their door opens. Ny partner was forever getting locked in the passenger seat because she forgot to manually unlock the lexus. Put car in park, now unlocks all doors,
  18. the ML sound system on my sport luxury sounds pretty good to me. I don't feel the need to add any more speakers. It rivals many small home theatre setups in terms of sound
  19. v14 came with my new IS250. I downloaded a torrent file for the toyota v14 and tried that in hope it was a slightly later version, however was identical. I live in a new estate in perth, and the house has been here since late 2006 - but my street number does not exist on v14. Search for Toyota_Nav_Australia on mininova - it is rared at about 2gig and extracts to about 5gig. So you will need a DL DVD to write it. I now have a backup incase the original packs it in. Any idea when a new version becomes available?
  20. Took delivery of IS250 sports luxury from lexus of perth. Also received 3 tiered white boxes with sparkling, 2 flutes, chocolates and assorted nibbles. I dealt with John and Duncan.. both very helpful. Let me test drive the car overnight and I did around 200km before deciding to buy.
