  1. Thanks for the advice. I was quite concerned when I found it. The gash is about 0.5cm deep and about 4cm long on a 45 degree angle from the rim outwards. Regards to the prior post by last1 about repairing the mag itself...It sounds a little outta my league. Think I'll have to get someone else to sort that out :) Cheers guys
  2. If you have the mode of pwr and not ecn it will hold the gears a little longer. Also put more foot down on the accelerator and it will rev higher before gear changes. Alternatively click to M mode and paddle shift at 6000rpm and you will not have any problems except exceeding 100km/h before hitting 3rd gear ;) I've noticed now I've hit 6000km in my car it seems to hold gears longer and the torque/acceleration seems more intense. I have been pushing it pretty hard the last few thousand km and my fuel econonmy is quite poor (12-14L/100km) since I've been thrashing it. However it hold 3rd gear no probs till I hit 5000-6000pm now. Still no where near the C63 amg which hits 8000rpm before hitting 3rd in sports with all saftey off and 9000rpm in sports manual with paddleshift but cant really compare that with the IS250 - wonder how it compares with the IS-F however.
  3. I'm not sure if you are referring to the prestige sound system or the mark levinson in the sports luxury. I have the SL ML system in my IS250 and I think the bass is the best i have heard in any premium sound system. I own a merc C63 AMG, previously had a M3 and an RS4 and the Lexus sound absolute blows them out of the water. It is crisp, clarity is amazing and the bass makes my stomach rumble and the entire seats and review mirrow rumble and vibrate when I have my music playing even at the volume of 25. When I crank it to 40 or above it gives my insides a deep thumbing and I can feel my legs of my pants getting thumped by the bass. Cars parked next to me at red lights look at me because they can hear the deep bass rumbling. Personally I think it is the best car sound system I've heard, and is up there with my 7.2 HD $60k home theatre sound system. Maybe you are not listening to music that is well mastered or has poor bass in it. Try crank up some metallica, or a bit of linkin park - and you wont be able to see anything in the review mirrow as it is vibrating too much. I'm scared to go past 45 on the volume as it gets painful on my insides. I have the bass 2 notches past the midline, treble one slot up and DSP on in the sound settings, with the rear one slot back on on the image of the car position in the sound settings. I also use 5.1 dvd music discs that might contribute to the impact. However lots of mp3s I play via my ipod intergration sound pretty damn impressive. Not a single person who has been in the car has been disappointed - infact they have been convinced to by a lexus of the BMW purely because of the ML sound system.
  4. Why of why would someone buying an IS-F go with white. Maybe its just me, but white reminds me of fleet telstra cars. When I finally commit to trading my IS250 SL to the IS-F I think black on black is the way to go. If I wanted a white car I would get a toyota echo or camery.
  5. I noticed today when washing my car there is an approx 10cm gouge out of my front left mag, and a ~5cm sliver of rubber sliced off the side of my tyre. I am the sole driver, and definately not hit any kurbs that I am aware of. I am at a loss to what has happened to my wheel. Is there any known issues with the mags that come stock on the IS250 sports luxury ? There is absoulutely no possible way this was caused by my driving as I would know if i hit a kurb or grazed something. I'm in Perth. Anyone know of where I would go to have this sorted as I find it quite unsightly - also I am now concerned about the integrety of the tyre due to the large flap of rubber now grazed away. Maybe this is an excuse to upgrade to 20" mags ;)
  6. yeah...my mercedes also has it, but it was an option close to $2000. My friends audi rs4 has a start button, but still needs to insert the key into the dash...kinda defeats the purpose of keyless go.
  7. I've driven my father inlaws lexus to my place with my sister to pick up my lexus. After showing my sister a few bits, positioning her seat etc. I got back in the father inlaws car and we drove 60km back to his place. When we arrived my sister was panicing as the entire trip the my car was saying key missing or some similar error on the dash. When she told me I discovered I had both keys in my pocket. At times on the freeway we lost sight of each other so I don't know if the car has a limit the key needs to be or not - but we got there without any problems.
  8. I think the "Hyundai" tag was just meant to be a metaphor for "huge difference". I don't think Pygothian intended to use it as a simile. Did you Pygothian???? exactly...i think too many people take what I said a bit seriously :)
  9. The sports luxury however does not have sports suspension or sports foot pedals like the sports does.. which I find extremely disappointing. The prestige is very basic. My father-in-law has one, and it is horrible to drive compared to my sports luxury. Once you have the little extras you never thought you would need or want, when they are gone its like driving a hyandai. Now after driving the IS-F, I feel like my sports luxury is starting in 4th gear at the lights. I just want seat cooling on it though. I think it should have fatter tyres too. They should be at least 265s at the back i think.
  10. Well the current IS250 sports luxury I have had 72km on it when I got it, and it was already registered for 12months. Because it was registered I didn't have to pay LCT on it. I just assumed it would be the same with the IS-F Hope so...coz I saved a bundle on this current car because of that. Woulda cost me more to get the X that wasnt registered than and more km on it, than the sports luxury with 72km on it...just cos it had been registered - so I went with the SL, despite loving the wheels on the X
  11. I still can;t believe the IS-F only has seat warmers tho...and no coolers. Wonder why they cut back some luxury from a car 50k cheaper. Would it be a weight issue or something? I love the coolers on the IS250....but heating is still my fav...but id hate to loose the cooling
  12. I'm seriously thinking about making the change. I currently have the IS250 2008 model Sports Luxury with 5217km on it. In mint condition. I am eyeing off the black IS-F in perth that is currently registered and has about 400km on it. As the RRP is 130k, and it is now registered, there will be no LCT, or Dealer delivery. Now the car market is not doing so well, I was wondering what peoples thoughts would be on the price of an IS250 2008 sports luxury with 5217km would be. I bought the car outright. Just wondering if its worth trying to get hold of their demo/registered black IS-F that is essentially second hand now and not a demo as it is registered. They do have another white IS-F in the showroom that isnt registered. I am yet to speak with the dealer, just was wondering what type of numbers would be ball park figures to know how much I should be asking. If I could get 60k for the IS250, and the IS-F would have to be less than 120k now would be only 60k for an upgrade at worst I'm thinking. I'm in Perth Any helpful advice would be appreciated. PS, I don't want to sell my C63 AMG coz I still love racing that on the track on the weekends Regards
  13. Don't they give you a new lexus to drive when yours is being repaired? Thats a bit tight of your dealer.
  14. I'm assuming it is fairly new if its an IS250. I doubt you could of possibly used all the a/c gas - my guess is you have a leak. Happened to my merc after just over a yr...it just didnt get cold but never noticed it till summer. Took it to get regassed...they said there is no way it should be empty..put some UV sensitive stuff in and regassed..and they drove it around for a few days while I got a loan car...and discovered a leak somewhere..fixed it and problem solved. Maybe that could be the problem with the lexus.
  15. if its less than 2yrs old, free from my understanding. Or if it is only the 2nd service the car has had.
  16. Cool...hopefully it has my street and house on it so i can find my way home. Will have to wait till it gets ripped and put on torrent....would never pay that for a dvd probably has minimal updates on it anyway
  17. With the ML sound cranked at about 45 most of the time, and my engine reving to 7000rpm I could never tell if my needles made noise :)
  18. As i mentioned previously...unfortunately in perth, noone I have found will do it. They don't want to break the law. So i will have to do it myself...ive set aside multiple weekends...but just always run outta time. Hope this week i get a chance
  19. spoiler on is-f more distinct. Also more presence on the is250 compared to the plain bmw that has nothing at all. Should of used the sports/sports luxury is250 pic coz the prestige has crap wheels compared to the bmw low end (whatever model it is) Wish you could change the side panels on the IS250 to get those IS-F grills even for looks...I like it.
  20. They looks alloys look identical to my 08 IS250 sports luxury 17" ones. I could be mistaken but im pretty sure they are exactly the same. What are the specs on them from the original poster? Think mine are R17 225/45 and 245/45. 10 spoke - pain in the ass to keep clean
  21. I've only used BP ultimate 98, I haven't seen Mobil or caltex in perth that do 98 octane near where I live. Best ive seen them have is 95. But that was a yr or two ago when i last looked.
  22. are the tyres the exact same size, width, profile? is the suspension the same? You are probably trying to compare to complete different rides. My IS250 SL has 17" 225/45 and 245/45 ..with no sports suspension (which is crap considering they call it a sports luxury) all stock. It is very smooth, and quiet. Then I get my c63 amg 6.2L V8 336kw with adaptive sports suspension 18" 235/35 and 265/35.. you feel every tiny pebble on the road, your spine gets jarred into the seats with the slightest tap of the accelerator and you hear a tremenous roar when you put your foot down...not quiet by any standards...not particular comfortable either...but fun to drive when you want to play. After driving the lexus IS-F im tempted to get rid of the C63 and change to the IS-F as it seemed more comfortable, more luxury, and still got my heart racing when i put my foot down. Much cheaper too. But im off the topic...you need to compare the specs of both cars...if they are identical in every respect and the camary is quiet...then maybe you got a dud lexus?
  23. ohh hell...even get a jerrycan with some 98 octane in the boot as backup...that would be the best solution
  24. Again...not really any help to your original post, but i've never put anything less than 98 octane in my lexus and merc. I have no idea if it really makes a difference, just went on what the dealers told me.
