Another ran a 11.30@127, not long after the kit he had engine failure and lost some compression. Was too much for the high mileage ISF. I was talking to Rafi about purchasing just the mounting/hardware kit off him so save weight in shipping as the SC unit can be purchased locally and the fmic can also be fabbed up locally for cheaper. I put the figures together and it added up around 10,000-10500AUD including all parts and fitted. Touch up on my tune would also be required but that would only be a couple hundred. Since then ive researched and decided to do a rear mount single turbo with a precision 6766, there is ample room under the rear. This turbo will be efficent/responsive enough to run half a bar or a little more no worries, will run its own oil setup in the rear to save running lines to the front, either pwr air to air fmic will be fabbed up or water to air.... not sure yet. Will also just do a simple fuel system intank pump upgrade and all together it should produce around 550rwhp quite comfortably.

If further tuning is required or I want to shift to the e85 life I have already had a custom plug and play loom made utilizing a haltech elite so i can in future run a flex sensor.

Have purchased some of the main pieces to the puzzle already but will be moving forward after tax time.

Oh my god.. Please keep us all updated!

Cut a long story short, no. Had the time to do it last xmas but was lazy, holiday mode. So we cut off the flanges from the stock headers & fitted 3 inch flanges. It was an easy mod with very good gains considering how cheap it was, only $260.00 with an exhaust shop we use. I am still thinking to do it, it is just a matter of making the time to do it & not tying up a hoist in our workshop for too long. The next best thing was porting out the inlet manifold. There were very good gains there, done it 4 weeks ago. This is what we did, same as this link below.  We gave the inlet manifold to a reconditioner that we use & he did his work. The trick to our engines is flow flow flow.

I actually did the flange trick you mention above, and i think for what it is and what it costs it gives a great outcome.

With the porting, do you mind sending me a message about what the cost was? Now there is going to be a couple of questions, hope its not annoying, but Im very intrigued:

    • Did you do the throttle body as well?
    • How long did the work take?
    • What gains did you get?
    • Is there a noticeable difference in throttle response?
    • What are your impressions?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Yeah i could be keen pending the price as well, but i have a sneaky suspicion that a group buy will not take the sting out of the price.

    They are expensive!

When i first joined the forum there was a member selling a set of almost brand new PPE headers ceramic coated, for $1600, and i let them slip through my hands.. What an idiot..

  4. So this is hard to capture in a title, but is there anyone with a 2008-2014 (old shape 2IS), gun metal grey Lexus IS250/350/ISF who wants to trade roofs?

From what i have read its a pretty easy swap out, the roof linings and controls etc just get switched over. I need the extra headroom, and never use the sunroof, though it works perfectly. I want just a standard roof!

My car is 2009 ISF, gun metal grey. Be interesting to see if anything comes of this, could be pretty sweet for both parties potentially.. My exterior and interior is mint condition, yours headlining etc would have to be too. Maybe @plankton007 can comment on the idea? Should be sweet right?

Another option is putting a proper carbon fibre roof in, but this would be big $$$ im presuming.

  5. My 90km service was around $1,400 for the ISF in Jan, yes prob could have got it cheaper elsewhere.. But they pick my car up in the morning, drop a loan car, the drop my car back in the arvo, and i work driving my car all day.

The car is driven everyday and though serviced extremely well through Lexus, is not babied at all. Its treated very well, over serviced probably, but has NEVER skipped a beat.. The servicing isnt cheap, but the car runs perfectly every time i press that Start button and mash the throttle. For a 7 year old car, thats fine by me.

I dont thrash my cars, i treat them very well, but if i want to have a bit of fun it needs to be reliable and do what its supposed to do. If you want cheap servicing, get a Hyundai, this is a high performance V8 revving hard anytime i want it to, and is 7 years old. 7 YEARS! NO ISSUES! You get what you pay for, look after your car and it will look after you.

  6. For all your eBay genuine Lexus parts needs:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/belllexusnorthscottsdale?ul_noapp=true

Those guys are amazing and cheap.. Quote the part number needed in a message to them, tell them the shipping address etc when getting a quote. Then get it programmed by Lexus when it arrives. Mine was $70 to program, for my ISF, delivered for around $270 AUS from memory..

They do all parts, for a fraction of what we pay locally.

Yep add up the money, pros and cons how long do you want to keep the new or old car for as I have seen the price slowly coming down on carsales. I read your us forum post to if you could find the right car at a dealer and got a good trade yes but there are a lot of "ifs and buts" its up to you in the end cheers my ISF friend

Well i think for now i have decided to ride out my time in this car, and just wait for the GSF, the car i was thinking about switching too was just too standard. Id be going backwards really..

As 2bling says, how long you`ve  had the current one, you must decide how long you are going to keep it if you decide to go that way. And then if you do keep the older one and spend more mouli on it you will need to keep it longer to reep the investment you have spent to get it where you want it. Lots of pros & cons. you do not want to look at it and think........ i wish i had a newer model. Cross your T`s and dot the I`s. As for the exhaust, if you have the old system you only need to modify the flange on the front of the mid section to fit to the headers on the older car. Then when ready do the header flange mod on the newer car and fit your system to it, easy done. You will lose the tune, oh well. keep the intake. Hope this helps to fry your brain more :yahoo:

    Haha, thanks mate!

Always look at car sales when a bit bored.  Saw a few 2007 BMW M5's for sale with the V10 at cheap prices.

Ok dont get me wrong, i know its older and no i wouldnt do it as im sure they are not as reliable as the ISF but damn, imagine how much fun it would be listening to a V10 everyday :yahoo:

I know i was going to get either a E55 or a M5 when i got this car, i couldnt go past the reliability. But i test drove both and they are MUCH faster (stock) than the ISF was. Modified to the same level they would be wild..

  8. Thanks Peter, i agree it would be a worthy swap.. But my price bracket ill be looking at will either be a 12 with 60-80k or a 13 with 100+k. So it wont really be about getting a lower mileage / km car, its more about the updated features / benefits of the newer car.

I cant take my exhaust actually, because it was modified to fit with the modified factory headers.. Just realised that.. Have to re-tune ECU also because a different car. Sigh..

  9. So, i am just gagging to drop a LSD into my 09 ISF, its the one thing i really want to have in this car..  I have done a few bits and bobs to it over time and am THOROUGHLY enjoying it. So much so that i am contemplating trading in the 09 for a 13, same colour paint and interior. The whole upgrade could potentially be done with the same loan, albeit on a new loan period. So basically same payments but refresh the loan.

My 09 has the following upgrades / mods:

    • RR Racing USRS bushes (amazing steering feel)
    • RR Racing Air Oil Separator
    • HPS intake tube black silicone
    • Bilstein B6 shocks (huge difference in comfort, though not as good as 12-13 onward cars)
    • X-Force cat back
    • Widened primaries after cats on factory headers
    • Autowerks ECU tune
    • 2011 Steering ECU upgrade (better mod than you would think, big difference)
    • Credit card key bought from the states

All in all, the only thing i really would froth over on the new car are:

    • Better suspension
    • LSD Diff
    • Bluetooth streaming for music

I would probably get someone to switch all of my goodies onto the new car, i certainly wont trade them in. So there may be a chance of a part out who knows. I would probably want my mods on the new car, especially the exhaust, USRS, intake tune and get it retuned. Tuning is the best thing i have done to that car.

Let me know your opinions, because the other side is a drop a diff into mine for $3k and be done with it. I have maintained my car very well and its trouble free, around 90kms.

  10. I dont have any sound clips yet, but i have modified the factory manifolds as well, widening the outlets to 3 inches. Not as good as headers for power but gets pretty damn close. Also changes the exhaust too. Plus i have a modified intake which changes the sound..

So maaaaaaay not sound like the original would have haha!
