So I've bought the OBD remote tune from TTFS, have received the handheld tool and read  the data they require before they can proceed with the tune.

There have been a few delays mostly regarding software glitches with the tool, but these have supposedly been sorted and now it is just a matter of TTFS finalising the tune for me and sending me the file to write back to my ECU.

I have a JoeZ intake, JoeZ exhaust and Novel headers and carried out a pre-tune dyno as a baseline. Once the tune is on and run in, I'll be doing a second dyno to see the difference.

    Any update on this?

  2. Everywhere i see on the thread on Club Lexus they all seem to have 90 or 92 octane fuel. I know there are some where are blending fuel or using additives, but the majority only seem to have a lower octane fuel accessible than we do.

Fantastic! Thanks so much for organising a pre and post tune dyno, will be VERY interested to see these results, as our cars run on 98 Octane and should see a much more significant increase from the tune that US owners.

Cant wait to see what unfolds..

  4. Around a year ago I bought an 09 with 68,000 for $53k drive away, including shipping from QLD to NSW. If i had bought now i would get a LOT more car for the money.. But thats life, cars depreciate!!

If i could do my time again i would DEFINITELY only buy a 2011 (mayyyyyybe MY2010)for all the updates. The LSD and suspension changes alone are worth it, let alone Bluetooth streaming and other features like daytime LED's and the updated tacho.. Orrrrr you could buy mine haha!Upgraded suspension to Bilsteins etc  ;-D

  5. Oh my god so much fun.. That looked like a BLAST!!

I just dont know how im going to fit in the car on a track day with the helmet on. My head scrapes the roof without the helmet, and short of putting a racing seat in there is no fix..

Thanks for the footage, much appreciated!

My first 08 F had over 110.000km on the clock, tracked it regularly with no issues except one which was a mystery. On the track in third-fourth gear the RPM would not go above 5400 it felt like it ran out of puff completely over that RPM range, it happened about 3-4 times on a certain track day then it was gone, got Lexus to check it out they have found no trace of any issues, just thought I'd mention that, I am pretty sure something was overheating as that was the day I raced and beat a 430KW HSV:), I still have it on video somewhere. Apart from that despite the heavy beating the car received it was bullet proof. Lexus mentioned the water pump was needed to be replaced at some stage as it showed some signs of fatigue but that was a minor issue.

    Find that video!!!

  7. Haha, yes i know i wouldnt! But i was more banking on a unit coming up through a wrecker / write off.

The one from Figs is very good, but then it needs servicing, and is more race orientated rather than street, where as the OEM unit is more an install and forget option.

From what i have read though, the Figs LSD is pretty amazing, and a real step up over the factory unit.

That $1600 mark for the headers is in US$. That's around 2057 in aud$ - and that's with the Aussie dollar going up to around 77c.

2057 +1000 install + 300 freight + 300 customs and duties gives you your 3600 price tag. Hope this clears it up for all. 👍😊

    Boom!! Spot on

  9. Thanks Danny, Ill attach some snaps of the diff, there doesn't seem to be any markings on the diff. I agree, the only way this could have an LSD is if he has retrofitted it himself. Which is why im so hesitant to buy, because the odds of that are very low...

The wrecker said he did the similar test as your have said above, and that he thinks "its 100% LSD", but id rather crack the back cover and actually see. I would put new oil in anyway, so all good. But he wont open it.

  10. Hey all, I am on the search for an MY10 onward "pumpkin" or complete diff for my 09 ISF. I am sick of the single spinning, its doing my head in.. One of the reasons i bought this car was to get sideways and have some fun when safe (on the track etc of course, or in Mexico where everything is legal).

I found what a wrecker is calling an LSD diff for the car, but the problem is that the DIFF came from a 2009 compliance (2008 build) ISF. Which obviously comes with the non LSD. There doesn't seem to be any way (without cracking the back of the diff, which he wont do) to check if it actually is an LSD with the Torsen diff centre. Which under no load acts like a single spinner non LSD (as told by Chris from Chatswood, who know far better than me).

Does anyone know any magical way to check, barring putting it into the car and trying it? I am so torn, price is good, but its in a different state and seems too risky..

    Thanks in advance

  11. Chasing a diff for my 09 ISF, and having some trouble. Swapping an after market centre isn't really a preference, would prefer a whole "pumpkin" from a newer model is anyone knows of one going around.

    Many thanks!

  12. Yeah the gains are pretty substantial, i would LOVE to have a set.. I had the chance about 6 months ago to buy a second hand set for $1600 and didnt do it. MASSIVE REGRET haha!

A big part of the gain comes from the removal of the primary cats after the factory manifolds, the engine breathes better and generally comes to life.

    My to do list:

    -Headers

    -LSD Diff

    -Tune

    Problem is the prices!

Considering the PPEs can be had through Chatswood for around $1600 delivered thats a ridiculous price for labour.

Chatswood Lexus will only charge around $1000 for labor, so the other cost is for the headers, including the shipping cost and conversion rate. Last one they did was around the $3600 mark. Order online from here:

    http://www.shopfigs.com/v1/index.php?route=product/category&path=43

Add the shipping cost (with polished ceramic coated, thats what Chatswood supply) then exchange from US dollars. Then add $1000 to fit.

Its expensive no matter how you crunch it.

  14. 82,000 km on my ISF and still running perfectly, only ever had the factory service at the required intervals. There are most members on here with the same result, who also track their cars pretty hard.

Tough engines, and tough running gear..

Do you mind telling where you got the PPE headers from.  Sorry didnt mean to hijack the tune thread but i noticed someone asked as well.  Recall reading Chatswood Lexus or maybe i have that mixed up with the exhaust.  Curious who can bring it in and price???

Yes Chatswood Lexus offer drive in drive out with ceramic coated headers, price is around $3300-$3500 last time i checked. Affected by the current US$.

Looking through this whole thread, and some other threads on the forum, looks like there are a lot of positives with the tune..

Could be interesting, but seems to only be truly worthwhile with full exhaust and intake:
