  1. So far so good - no more belt slip at this point in time. Will be interesting to see how long it lasts.
  2. **SOLD** Selling a new Gates Micro V accessory belt (Part # 6PK2250) which suits the 1UZ 4.0L V8 and the 3UZ 4.3L V8 in various Lexus vehicles. http://www.gatescatalogue.com.au/v/nissan/primera/micro-v---belt/gates-au/6pk2250.html I purchased this belt for my IS-F but it is actually too long and a shorter belt was required. This belt has been test fitted to my car but not actually used - so it is good as new. Only purchased about 2 weeks ago. $45 incl delivery.
  3. I was going to but they have a 30% restocking fee plus the postage etc....not worth it for a $50 belt. I will just try and sell it on Gumtree/ebay at a reduced price.
  4. I decided to email Gates and let them know they have the incorrect belt listed for the IS-F. I got a response within 45 mins saying thanks, yes they have now realised the listing they had for the IS-F was incorrect and are having the online catalogue updated to suit. So other IS-F owners should not encounter the same issue i had.
  5. I got mine from ebay seller niftyautoparts in Victoria. $61.32 with free postage.
  6. 6PK2055 is the one you need Gen03. I just got mine off ebay (was around $60). I was a little concerned when i opened the package up as it had a different part number on it (both on the packaging and on the belt) but then it also had another sticker with 6PK2055 on it. Fitted it last night - fits perfectly and no belt slip so far (although ive only driven the car once since fitting it so it's early days).
  7. Finally i got the result i wanted with the exhaust. I am yet to take any photos or videos but i will update when i do. Car went back in on Friday to have the 3 week old custom mufflers removed and new mufflers fitted. The new mufflers are much larger 10" x 5" and 14" long with the internal chamber to quieten the noise down. The mufflers have also been mounted flat rather than on a tilt angle like the xforce and JoeZ mufflers are. The car now is much quieter (still louder than stock but much quieter than the Xforce mufflers), no more drone, and the replacement mufflers actually look good under the back of the car. The place that made the custom mufflers agreed they sent the wrong ones and replaced them at no cost. And kudos to my muffler shop who fitted them at no cost.
  8. Yes just hold off for another 4-5 days and i will let you know if the new belt is correct before you order one.
  9. My mates dad uses moth balls (Naphthalene) to boost the octane in his modified Celica GT-4 and has done so for years and years. I thought he was pulling my leg when he first told me, but apparently its an old school trick. Toulene also sounds like a good option - price wise seems similar to off the shelf octane boosters. It came a close 2nd place in that test i linked above.
  10. Well that was a waste of time - the Gates 6PK2250 belt i purchased is considerably longer than the stock belt so the information on the Gates website (and several other websites i looked at to cross reference is incorrect). The 6PK2250 does not fit the IS-F. It appears that the correct size should be 6PK2055 which is 19.5cm shorter than the 6PK2250. Unfortunately the stock belt has no markings on it at all so i cannot simply get the part number off it. Now that i have done some further investigation, it seems some websites list the 6PK2255 as suitable for the IS-F, and others list the 6PK2055 - hence the confusion. I have now purchased a 6PK2055 so will see how that goes when it arrives next week.

    New intake

Will be a pretty sweet built once done, regardless of where they mount the turbo i guess. There was certainly no way the were going to be able to mount the turbo(s) in the traditional location in this car....no room what so ever.
  12. Interesting info above - not that i would ever use E10 anyway (unless its a rental car). Couldn't find anyone with Boostane in stock, so i found a Nulon Pro Strength octane booster product which i have bought and will try when i go back to the dyno in a few weeks to see gains (if any) from opening up the header flange from 2" to 2.5"...the car feels a bit stronger up top but will be good to see what that actually translates to. The Nulon product is supposed to raise octane by as much as 7 points but not sure if it will do so when starting from a base of BP 98....perhaps it will go up to 100-101 octane if i am lucky. Here is a test that was done where it came 1st place: http://www.fuelexpert.co.za/Octane-Booster-Shootout.php

    New intake

So it is being rear mounted after all then?
  14. Wow thats dedication mate - looks great. Well done.
  15. ^ that looks great. Looks so much better than the outdated and tacky silver/white fake carbon that in the IS-F's now. Would love to know the details (price/is it an exchange program etc).
  16. Congrats on the new car - looks great in white. Out of interest, where did you get the carbon boot spoiler as i have been watching several on ebay and wondering what the quality was like. I did buy a roof spoiler in carbon a few months ago from USA and it looks nice - time will tell how it will hold up in terms of fading etc though. I have read that removing the stock rear spoiler and all the double sided tape is a bit of a pain. There is someone selling a near-new JoeZ exhaust in the classifieds section which is priced well in my opinion.
  17. Will do. It should arrive early next week so ill change it either one night next week (if i can be bothered) or next weekend.
  18. Price drop. $145 each or $260 for both plus postage. These are 8" x 5" and 14" long. Pipe diameter is 2.5". Xforce straight through oval mufflers. See pic attached which are my mufflers (my photo). Note that the curved pipework at the top of the photo is not included - its only the mufflers and the small section of pipe at either end of the muffler (plus the 2x bolt flange at one end).
  19. Nice exhaust and not a bad price - wish i had seen this before i just spent the same amount of money butchering an xforce exhaust.....ill go kill myself now.
  20. Thanks for the info but im going to stick with high quality stainless steel mufflers to give me a consistent good noise and a good look (i have neither of those at the moment). I have got pricing for custom mufflers from both AdrenalinR (9" x 5.5" body and 13" long) and Reaper Engineering (8" x 6.5" body and 13" long). The Adrenalin R are more expensive, but part of that reason is because i have to pay for shipping from NZ to Aust but i am more interested in these as i have used them before and they are also chambered for noise reduction. The Reaper Engineering mufflers also look very nice but they are a straight through design so they will be louder than the AdrenalinR. Funnily enough, both these custom muffler brands are cheaper, look far better and are much bigger than the custom mufflers i got through my exhaust shop. Yes everything was more expensive than what i was expecting it to be and took me by surprise - but it is what it is and it is done now. If i can get a refund/return for the dodgy mufflers i was supplied (which in no way, shape or form match what i asked for) it will go a long way to making me happy again. I rang my exhaust guy on Tuesday to see if he had any response from his guy who makes the mufflers....nothing (the muffler guy has been absolutely useless during this entire process so im not surprised). I cant really blame my exhaust guy because he is piggy in the middle, but he has got one frustrated customer who is getting more impatient by the day. I certainly did consider the Varex mufflers and we spoke about them earlier in this thread. My main reasoning for not choosing with the Varex is the general unreliability of the Varex motor/mechanism - and it seems you have experienced this multiple times yourself. Also, when the Varex flap is closed, i do not like how it sounds. The other reason is that with the custom rear mufflers i wanted to get away from how the mufflers are mounted on an angle - i want them to be flat (yes i am fussy)
  21. I dont think you would need to run it for a whole week, but perhaps 50km or so to let it mix evenly in your fuel tank and then allow the car to learn that the octane level is higher so it adjusts timing etc to suit. Im going back to the dyno in about a month so im trying to get my hands on a bottle of this stuff so i can test it out......turns outs getting my hands on a bottle is easier said than done.
  22. Fingers crossed that simply changing the belt will stop the noise. The tensioner itself doesnt look too hard to get at but id rather not change it unless i definitely have to.
  23. Have decided to buy a brand new accessories belt first and see if that makes any difference, if not then ill buy a new tensioner. Tried calling my local Lexus service dept who were beyond useless so i resorted to Google and ebay to find parts. Purchased a Gates Micro V belt (Part # 6PK2250). This particular belt is supposed to be the quietest belt on the market. http://www.gatescatalogue.com.au/v/lexus/is/micro-v---belt/gates-au/6pk2250.html And will purchase this Dayco tensioner if required: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DAYCO-Auto-belt-tensioner-FOR-Lexus-IS-F-10-08-5-0L-V8-32V-USE20R-311kW-2URGSE/152681916420?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20140106155344%26meid%3D771a79fe86004d5aa0e2b0bfe0e8df01%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D182732230729%26itm%3D152681916420&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
  24. As an alternative to E85 (a more expensive alternative) i am trying to find where i can buy just 1x single bottle of this stuff to try - as most places want to tell a pack of 6 or 8. This is not just a normal octane booster that you have seen at Supercheap for years and years - this is a whole new ball game for octane boosters and there are plenty of Youtube and forums talking about this and showing the gains on the dyno from nothing more than some Boostane being added to the fuel tank. https://boostane.com/product/boostane-professional-octane-booster/ Figured i would use 1/2 a bottle (around 500ml) with a full tank of BP Ultimate 98 which should raise the octane from 98 to around 102 RON at that level of concentration to see if you can notice the difference. If so, i will buy some more and use it on occasion for a track day or a trip to the drags. You can use more (eg the whole 1L bottle) to raise the octane level more (calcs suggest the full bottle would raise the octane to around 106-108).
