  1. Hi mate - thanks for your reply. Yes one of my worries with the Varex option is the general feedback from owners having issues with the motors not being reliable. Good to hear that xforce are giving you replacement motors free of charge - but still annoying for you no doubt. From what i understand, they are just an automotive electric window motor - so should be very reliable. Im wondering if a combination of the exhaust heat, water and the issue you mention with people holding the button down too long ruins them prematurely?? The Bluetooth functionality would be good (although a bit gimmicky) but it is approx $500 which is just a bit silly in my opinion. I think i will go see my regular exhaust guy next week and put the car up on the hoist too see what my realistic options are in terms of what will physically fit under the car without compromising ground clearance. I think i will end up replacing the rear mufflers completely with a larger bodied unit (and while im at it i will use mufflers which have twin tips so it looks a bit better than the current xforce single tip)
  2. Hi all, After having my Xforce exhaust installed since late last year, i have started to become a bit annoyed at the loudness at times. Don't get me wrong, it sounds great when you floor the throttle, but i would like to have it a bit quieter when i have my wife and daughter in the car and / or when coming home late at night etc. It also seems like it has become louder in the past few months - im beginning to wonder if the crap graphite gaskets xforce provide with the exhaust are leaking (new multi layer stainless steel gaskets have been ordered to replace them just in case). Naturally it would have made sense to have purchased the Varex version of the exhaust, but i had to wait about 3 months just to get the normal one and it was going to take longer to get a Varex. So.....im looking into options to try and quieten it down around 30-50% roughly. Im considering the following options: 1) Install 2x extra resonators up near where the secondary cats were in the stock exhaust. About $400-500 for good quality stainless resonators like Magnaflow or AdrenalinR) 2) Get 2x larger bodied (and no doubt better quality) Magnaflow (or custom made) mufflers to replace the xforce rear mufflers. Around $700-900 for this option. 3) Purchase 2x Varex mufflers (around $900 for 2x mufflers plus the remote controller) which i can install myself (bolt on) and then sell my existing mufflers. This is the most expensive option but may have the best result...my only concern is that the motors that control the valve in the exhaust are apparently pretty crap quality. Had anyone on here been in a similar predicament? What did you choose and were you happy with the result?
  3. Just check the owners manual - these engines don't require any fancy spec of oil, just as long as its a good quality synthetic in 5w-30 or 5w-40 it will be fine. The Nulon you have purchased will be fine.
  4. Its around $60 incl postage from USA - i just purchased one last night via ebay. I will look at the possibility of using an adhesive before going to the trouble of having a steel mounting plate made up. Given that the force placed onto the foot pedal is always pretty direct im inclined to think that a strong adhesive (even Sikaflex perhaps) will be more than enough.
  5. That's fine - i understand. I do not have a 3D printer nor do i have access to one so the file itself will be of no use to me. My brother on the other hand is a metal fabricator so i might buy the IS200 clutch pedal cover and get him to make up a basic mounting plate for me to mount it to the existing handbrake pedal.
  6. How long did it take to stitch up? Was your original steering wheel in bad shape?
  7. Great idea - i have looked at the park brake pedal on multiple occasions before and wondered how i could fix that. I'd be interested to buy a pedal mount off you if you wanted to make more (although i can also understand if you want to keep that little invention to yourself).
  8. Purchased brand new mid 2017 from Brakes Direct for $250. Have only done approx 4,000km on brand new DBA disks. These are a street pad. As mentioned, they have only travelled approx 4,000km on the street so they have HEAPS of life left in them. Selling for $125.
  9. Cool - ill keep an eye out. I have seen an orange one around (actually i think its an RC 350, not an F) and also that grey RC-F but dont think ive seen a white one. I'll keep an eye out. Front disks $ 450 (DBA2758X | DBA Street Series X Gold Cross Drilled Brake Rotor) Front Pads $ 245 (Winmax W1) Rear Disks $ 435 (DBA2759X | DBA Street Series X Gold Cross Drilled Brake Rotor) Rear Pads $ 211 (Winmax W2) If you are interested, I have replaced these Winmax pads with some Bremtec ones as I was trying to get rid of a persistent squeal from the brakes that developed a few months after installation. Turns out it was the rear pads making the noise – so I wouldn’t want to sell those unless it was for a track car or something. But the front pads were noise free, worked well and have only done about 3,000-4,000km since I fitted them. You can have them for $150 if you are interested.
  10. I'll buy a iphone mirroring kit for 2011 IS-F if you can get those (but looking at the Beat Sonic website it says they only suit the 2013 model IS-F???)
  11. Fwd Brakes Direct New Order # 17-00003087.msg Thanks - it certainly was a big task but i enjoy it. Now that the car is clean, it's so much easier to keep it that way with a weekly wash and vacuum, and a polish/sealant a few times a year to keep it glossy and protected. Should see the before and after on the brake calipers!! I wish i had taken some "before" photos of the paintwork but it just didn't occur to me at the time.
  12. Is your RC-F grey? If so, i think i saw you a few days ago on Industrial Drive (might have been Wednesday afternoon at 5pm). And yes i have told one of my friends about your car, but he has 4x modified Toyota's in the garage already and is building a house - so funds are tight.
  13. You made me check mine last night.....thankfully mine is undamaged and still looks to be ok.
  14. Hi Everyone, I joined a few months ago but this forum is pretty quiet so i haven't had much of an opportunity to interact with you all yet. I thought i would put up some information about my IS-F which i purchased in June 2017 and my story about the purchase experience and my time with the car so far. You can read that here if interested. I purchased this IS-F after looking for around 5 months to find a decent example. Previous car history (cars worth mentioning anyway) in case it is of interest to anyone: 2007 S14 series 2 200sx (lightly modified 170rwkw) – no build thread 2001 S15 200sx (slightly more modified, around 185rwkw) – no build thread 2011 VW Golf R (spent a fair bit of $ on this one, 208awkw. Max power with standard turbo) – Golf R build thread 2010 VW Golf GTI (also went a bit crazy on this one, 161fwkw. Max power with standard turbo) Another example of the lengths I go with detailing a grotty 2nd hand car (this one was really grotty inside) – GTI build thread Pros: It was the colour I preferred (I wanted either silver or blue, with blue being my #1 choice) Very low km’s No accidents or damage or rust (all original paint and bodywork) 1 owner car Drove beautifully Near new tyres (Bridgestone Potenza RE050) all round Cons: Not as tidy as I was hoping for and not what I was led to expect Somewhat sketchy service history (although very low km’s travelled so im inclined to let this one slide a bit). I also looked as best I could inside the engine (via oil filler cap) and everything was squeaky clean (no buildup) Brakes need replacing ASAP Will have to do another oil change (and engine flush) to satisfy my somewhat OCD nature Time for some mods…… X-force header-back exhaust (sounds great but a little too loud for my liking – had custom rear mufflers made in July 2018 to quieten it down a bit) Bonnet struts replaced (old ones were very stiff) Billet alloy oil filler cap with F logo from USA 15mm SSC wheel spacers (good quality German made ones….not cheap ebay Chinese junk) Gutted cats in the headers Carbon fibre roof spoiler Superpro replacement LCA bushes Bayson-R front lip (black plastidipped and actually looks really good) Blacked-out front grill 5D carbon fibre wrap for the interior trim to replace the tacky silver carbon fibre. RR Racing o2 sensor conditioner fitted RR Racing air/oil separator (catch can) Will also another engine flush and oil change soon also to ensure all the old oil is long gone (so car had an oil change by Lexus at 42k, then by me at 45k, and now ill do another one at around 48k). Might be overkill, but it’s a relatively small cost (and I can do the work myself) to ensure the engine is in tip top shape. Ran the car on the Dyno in May 2018 (mods were xforce exhaust, gutted cats, afe filter and HPS intake pipe). Consistently ran 247-249kw atw over 4 runs. RR Racing ECU Tune loaded June 2018 (made 265kw after the tune)
  15. Have you got a list (or could you take a photo of the products) used to achieve this as i find the website not very straightforward to decipher (the Leatherique website in USA is woeful, thankfully the Aust site is better yet still not great: http://ppcco.com.au/leatherique.html ) My seats are black but i would love to fix up some light scratches and bolster wear from the original owner as it seems they didn't care much about the car.
  16. All sorted now mate - must have been a timing thing. Huge improvement - looks great.
  17. What am i doing wrong - i cant see the pics? The drivers seat in my ISF has some light scuffs that i would like to fix up - so would be interested to see the photos.
  18. Both the headlights on my 2011 IS-F have small bubbles in the black area near the HID projector. If it gets worse i will take the lights apart and respray them.
  19. I just removed my (approx 3000-4000km old) Winmax W1 (front) and W2 (rear) pads due to constant loud and frustrating high pitch squealing when slowing down using light (normal) braking pressure. The squeal tends to come and go but my god it drives me insane. I have tried basically everything to shut these pads up (swapped sides / cleaned and regreased shims / running some sandpaper over them / grinded a chamfer into the front pads etc (as they didnt have one etc etc) but nothing worked. The pads were bedded in when first fitted and I have even tried re-bedding them in several more times to try and stop the noise to no avail. FYI when I fitted the Winmax pads I also fitted brand new DBA X Gold (slotted and cross drilled) rotors. Was going to try either Hawk Ceramic or Project Mu NS400 but came across these Bremtec Euroline ceramic pads which looked promising and were considerably cheaper than both the Hawk or Project Mu so have decided to try these http://bremtec.com.au/product-range/brake-pads/ (I got the Euroline version which have the yellow box). These pads are chamfered (Winmax were not) and also include new shims (Winmax did not) so lets see how they go. I will update in about a months time after I have put some km’s on them.
  20. Haven't done it yet. Ended up buying an exhaust instead so the new tensioner and belt will come shortly.
  21. I drove one of these LC500's a few months ago (a family member works at Lexus). Lovely car. Looks like a spaceship and certainly gets plenty of looks from pedestrians/other drivers.
  22. When i purchased my IS-F about 5 months ago, the brakes were buggered and needed replacing ASAP. After doing some research i ended up using DBA X-Gold disks from Brakes Direct in QLD (slotted and cross drilled) because i wanted to keep the cross drilled look and these are the only disks that DBA offer that are cross drilled. I wasn't happy with the gold colour on the hubs so i painted these matt black before fitting to the car. https://www.dba.com.au/products/street-performance/x-gold/ For pads, i wanted low dust so ended up with the Winmax W1 pads on the front and Winmax W2 pads on the rear. The pads ended up being a bit of a pain to source locally so i got the fronts from Brakes Direct and had to get the rears from USA. Fitted everything myself and bedded them in with about 10-12 fairly hard stops from about 80kph down to 10kph etc. Very happy overall with this setup so far. The disks look great, the pads are indeed much less dusty than the stock Brembo pads and they make no noise. Took the opportunity to give the calipers and suspension a much needed clean while i had everything apart too - so much brake dust buildup on the calipers in only 40,000km.
  23. Good luck with your search - i only purchased my MY2011 IS-F in June this year from Brisbane and drove it back to Newcastle. I was looking for about 5 months in total (but only seriously for about 2 months as i needed to sell my existing car before buying the IS-F). I wanted either silver, grey or blue with the white leather interior - but most of the white interiors were in really bad condition and really grotty, so i scrapped the white interior idea. Seems most of these cars were lease vehicles and generally not loved by the 1st owners. Ended up with a blue one with the black interior. Only 42,000km's which was lower than my target km's (most others were around 60-70,000km).
