Hello,

Soon my F will be up for new rotors and pads.

Since this is one of the most expensive parts on our cars I am shopping around a little as OEM parts are overpriced in my opinion.

I was looking at getting the Hawk ceramic pads and rotors.

Any experience on these? Recommendation, warnings?

I was also considering other options for pads/rotors as the OEM parts are ridiculously priced.. Brisman just paid $2800 for front rotors and pads at dealer. I wonder if you installed the hawk products it would void your warranty? Are the Hawk pads low dust?

You could try getting our pads from Maukau Toyota in NZ. They are a sponsor here and pads are not too bad.

Talking with my service manager rear rotors last a while and he has not replaced on n F yet.

Anyhow, I picked my pads up from these guys and at 65,000 km still waiting to use lol.

As mentioned, I've just had my front done again, first set was 20K second lasted 28K, a bit longer due to driving in manual more often.

First rear set will be at around 55K and been quoted $2100.00.

If @ me, no track for my car, although a lot of city stop/start driving as in 5 days a week.

well for me there has to be the occasional track day, In my view this car was built for that not city traffic no point owning it if I don't have some fun. But that is just my view so there is my reason for setting it up and finding the sweet spot for city/track setup at a reasonable ongoing cost. The kidney crushing suspension pays off on track days:)

crazy my standard brakes lasted me 50K and then i machined them and still going strong after 80K

I have done a bit of research on this subject, and I've come to realise that the OEM brakes are probably the best for the occasional track dayer like myself. Yes, they squeal (unless you clean them religiously), they're dusty but they give great bite and are very resistant to fade. From experience, I have done many laps in the car following a E92 M3 and he had to slow down after a few laps as he was getting a lot of brake fade, whereas the F just keeps going. I was more concerned about my transmission overheating than the brakes.

There are alternatives like Hawks which will give you less dust or squeal, but sacrifice the braking performance. If you don't track your car then the alternatives will probably be more attractive.

I second that, the brakes just won't fade even when pushed very hard not to mention the other parts of the car. This is the main reason I own the F not some other German sedan.

However I have heard from other F owners that the Hawk options are just as good as the OEM if not better. Can anyone confirm this?

Just went for the 30,000km service and got the dreaded "you need new front rotors and brake pads" news - $2,200. The price of F!
