  1. My Camry is a 4cyl with budget 14" on. The car just felt smooth for what it is and i can't help but feel it's smoother if not on par with the IS going at 60-80km/hr. Needless to say it doesnt handle nowhere near the IS but for how old it is, the cabin noise and the feeling of smoothness is right up there with the IS. Perhaps the dealer put in too much air during the service but that cannot be a factor as i am referring to smooth roads. Also my IS has 16s (if anything equivalent to 14 in the Camry).

Both cars have had oil change at the same period with the camry i do it myself (don't tell me the Dealer didnt do their job and hasn't changed my IS oil?). It felt as though i'm running on old oil with the IS and the Camry with brand new oil. That's the smoothness i'm referring to . You guys know the differences in driving with oil and new oil right?

  2. Today i was behind this black car. I was tailing it (not in my Is) and couldn't understand why i was starring at it so much cos after all it's just another IS250 right?, not so, there was something different about this car. It was stock yet different. It had a weird looking LED tailight. Everything looked 'vertical', two distinct LED bulbs light up when the car brakes but it wasn't horizontal rather vertical. Same with the amber signal lights, it was also vertical and right next to the brake lights. I wasn't at all impressed with the looks let me tell you, it was as though they got rid of alot of the reds from the tailights and just focus on the LED bulbs. Anyway i thought the rear looked extra plain expecially when the lights lid up, and being a black car, this really hightlight ita all.

For those what are not aware of the difference in the tailight (of and btw the 09 model has the side indicators on the side mirros like the Accord Euro, which is really nice), here's the 09 tailight WITH the high beam 'rear' light. Put a finder over the 6 LED bulbs and see how plain it is.

  3. So i went to the dealers for my 2 yrs service yesterday and got diagnosted with a grinding/crunching sound from the cluster. Although i did not pick this out the guy at the dealer was kind enough to alerted me to it (i was really impressed). Anyway the sound was like a slight crunch when you turn on the engine which wasn't apparent to me. What was apparent was as the needles goes right and back they give off a distinct ginding noise and which i thought it was normal.

Anyway they will order a new cluster for me in the NY and will replace it. I also have that noise onthe steering column as though the housing is loose but only during cold start up.

Does anyone know if any TSBs for these issues?

  4. Have to come back to this topic.

I think there are a few types of finishes with our 250 cars, pending colours and all but the silver i have (2006) has paint that are not only thin but also attract dirt that doesnt really wash off. Little spots of dirt that sticks especially on the rear bumper doesn't come off even with harsh washing. I am beginning to get worry about the quaility of the paint. I know Honda has deep pearl metallic paint that are really dirt resistence. Can someone comment?

  5. Eversince my first sat in the Is, i felt the seat is too soft and to my body it's not a great fitting...and not sporty although i think Lexus has advertised them to be sports seats. Anyway i was looking at the IS-F and it's seats. I guess judgement is reserved till i get to sit it one BUT looking at it, it's anything BUT sporty especially for such a car. Comparing to the RS-4, and C63 the F's seat is below par (on par with the M3) i.m.o.

    What do u guys think?
