  1. It doesn't say in the letter which vehicles are affected. It basically says your vehicle may be affected. Best to ring your dealer and get them to check if your car falls within the date ranges in question.
  2. The letter is from Lexus Australia. Basically if you get the letter ring your dealer to get the brake pin looked at. It's not all IS250's just those built within a certain date range.
  3. My neighbor had the same idea at Tempe Tyres a few months back but were told they wouldn't fit an IS250 due the brake calipers or something But they are a nice classy looking wheel.
  4. Windows tinting is not standard. The dealer might throw it in as a freebie but it is not a factory tint as such and they will generally do the front windows lighter than the backs. Unless the dealer throws it in, you probably better off shopping around and getting it done elsewhere as you will get what you want usually a lot cheaper.
  5. Feel free to whiz over to Adelaide for such wonderful service. :P Having driven from Sydney to Adelaide in the past, I think I will learn to live with my wayward mirrors. But thanks for the invite..
  6. It definitely looks like sap from a tree. It happened to me once when I had an IS200, to make matters worse it was a 40+ degree day which meant it went the sap went hard on the paint and the car was black also. Took me hours to get it cleaned up, I even resorted to pouring boiling water on it to soften it up. I never parked under that dammed tree again. TLC, tender loving care, most people lavish it on loved ones (humans). I would dare say most of us here would lavish it on our cars... thanks man I tried to clay it off with Maguairs. it didn't work :( Could you tell me how exactly you got it off ? I have a number of these spots on the bonnet thanks I tried pouring boiling water on it and it softened to a grease like substance which I was able to rub off slowly and then I waxed and polished the whole car afterwards. It did take me a long time to get it off though but to be honest I had it all over the car, roof, hood and trunk. You have to resist the temptation to try and scrape it off or rub it off. Good luck.
  7. New mirrors? My dealer says they found nothing wrong with mine, even though they re-adjust at all sorts of angles. I should go to your dealer...

  9. Your paint does look a little rough, although on that last picture it's hard to tell what bumps are on your paint or on the wall... I think a bit of TLC and elbow grease should fix that up.
  10. I agree, a full respray done properly, will mean stripping the whole car etc. For me it's not worth the cost, I would say you would be paying over $5K at the minimum but definitely closer to $10K for a professional job. It would be much cheaper to get a professional detail, i.e. at a professional detailing place or smash repairer as opposed to your local car wash and see if your paint improves.
  11. Hello, I have a set of front RDA slotted rotors for sale. They are a straight replacement part which means you don't have to alter your car in anyway. I purchased them and had them on the car for about 6 weeks or 1500kms. I'm selling the car so took them off and went back to OEM rotors. For those that complain about the brake dust and noise, then these work a treat. They pull up the car a lot better and the slots mean they constantly deglaze the pads to avoid the customary squealing our brakes are renowned for. I have the OEM pads which go with these rotors as well. Sale price $250 for the rotors and you can have the pads if you want. Each rotor is around $200 and the pads are $90 or so from Lexus.
  12. They will do pretty much anything you want them to do. Your car might just need a cut and buff or something more permanent like you said. A full respray will be expensive and might be unnecessary. Best bet is go in and show them and they can give you options.
  13. Why don't you take your car to a place called Currans in Auburn. They can make your "flat" paint look like new again without having to respray your car and even so if you still wish to get it resprayed they can give you a quote. Speak to either Sam or Pierre. They do great work there (from personal experience) and are also a Lexus approved repairer.
  14. I agree, VW, Audi, BMW etc, have nice cars don't get me wrong by the time you add in all the options you get in Lexus, you're near $100K. Before I got my IS250 I looked at the BMW 325 and by the time we added all the options we were getting with the Lexus we were over $100K. Lexus service is always good, they are always eager to fix any issue however small etc.
  15. Sounds like that's the way to go. I tried to go through the exercise on the weekend of seeing what else 85K or so buys me but after spending half an hour at Audi Parramatta without being served it is just too painful to keep trying let alone to try BMW and Merc.
  16. It's probably the iPhone. I got one when they first came out and the reception was really bad, it would also drop the bluetooth connection to the car for some reason. Eventually I went back to my trusty Blackberry and flogged the iPhone on eBay. I've never had a problem with Blackberries and the IS250 handsfree and I've had had a Blackberry since I got my car.
  17. Does anyone have a late 2008 or 2009 model Sports Luxury? I am looking to get a new car in the next few months and I would like to stay with Lexus but I want to know apart from the styling changes outside the car has anything else really changed? I read somewhere that now you can change from full auto to semi auto by flicking the paddles on the wheel, similar to the DSG gearbox offered by VW, does anyone know if this is true? Also, are there any rattles etc that are common amongst 2006 models? I know I have had my fair share of rattles and I am thankful at having an understanding dealer service manager who managed to get them fixed but I don't really want to go through that again. Cheers.
  18. I spoke to the service guys at my dealer and they tried and replicate the problem so unfortunately there wasn't a lot that they could do. I have noticed that it does take a few weeks from when you adjust it till they start moving upwards on their own accord. Hopefully someone else will have more luck in getting a fix.
  19. I'm having the same problem. Always having to readjust them as they tend to end up pointing higher than I set them. Same here. Has anyone let Lexus know, and what was the result? I'll let them know at my next service, but that isn't for a few months. My car is going in for a new instrument cluster in the next few weeks, I am going to mention it to them and I will let youy know what they say.

  21. do you have chrome rims? I have seen a girl driving a blue IS200 with chrome rims on Parramatta Rd a few times on my way home. Haha shadow chrome rims...Yes :) Does she have personalised plates? Don't get a chance to see, she's always flying past the other way. Haha Do you see her mainly on weekends or late evenings? I go Parramatta way during the weekend when i do some shopping or evenings when I go to the gym :) Usually in the evenings. Hmmm I dunno if its me. Next time beep or try and get the plates :) Yeah I will have a look if she slows down...
