  1. At least the yanks miss out on remote window/sunroof open/close, and rear camera guidance :) I'd swap that anyday for an IS350 :(
  2. The resisitor solution makes sense. When I had my soarer back in the day, I had to install a resistor when I put in some LED lights, because without it, I had a warning light on my dash come up saying that the light bulbs were blown. Basically you will need to measure the current before and after installation, and put in a resistor that will make the current level same as before the installation. Easy fix.
  3. Hmmm, how extreme do you want to go? If you want performance, I suggest you get rid of the 1G-FE engine, and drop a 2JZ-GTE engine out of a Supra or Aristo halfcut. It should slot right in without major problems, given 2JZ-GE engine came fitted stock in the IS300. :)
  4. Hmmm, not sure. It should come out regardless if disc is original or not. You can always seek help, but it's kind of an embarrasing thing to be seeing a dealer about :P
  5. Probably an obvious advice, but is the key in ACC position?
  6. Oh does it? Ah ok. My bad. I just made an assumption :P
  7. Not really, the sports doesn't have the power rear blind, or radar cruise control etc. I'm sure there's a few more things SL has over the sports too... And in regards to alcantara, it is not a type of leather at all. It's actually a textile synthetic fabric, composed of 68% polyester and 32% polyurethane Not saying it's a bad material. it's quite upmarket like leather, Lambos use alcantara in their interiors. Slightly off topic, but the prestige has the worst wheels ever! I hate them! They're disgusting! For a car that costs short of 60K you'd expect something better than 16" too... I'm planning on replacing mine with some 20" Gianelle Cairo rims soon: :)
  8. The brake pads that the park brake uses are the same brake pads you use to brake with when you drive your car. 200m is nothing when you consider that the average brake pad will be used for many thousand of kilometres over its lifetime. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. All it does is wear out your brake pads a little, and burn through more petrol. That would not even be marginally noticeable over such short distance as 200 metres...
  9. Have you checked that your little switch for adjusting lights sits on 0? Anything other than 0 will lower the light beam.
  10. Hard to say, I've never compared mine next to a sports luxury one. It does look much more upmarket though, I'd definately reccomend putting HIDs in.
  11. Parking brake woudln't get damaged from that. As far as I know when you 'switch it on' you clamp the brake calipers onto the rotor like you would when you press the brake pedal. No difference.
  12. No headlight washers on the prestige. I've got aftermarket HIDs and I don't think it blinds others. You can still manually adjust them from within the cabin with that little switch near the footlwell, if you have to. Given I don't carry many people in the back, or huge loads, I hardly ever need to adjust it.
  13. Comes in handy when you're waiting for 15-20 minutes in the car for your take away to be ready or something. Right now I got a DVD with Seinfeld episodes on it, which last about 20 minutes each so yeah. I probably wouldn't ever find the time to watch a full length movie in the car. I got a theatre room for that at home :P
  14. Hmmm, in that case it might be an idea to come by the store in person then, rather than phone. Will let you know if I find out anything.
  15. I'm sorry to hear about your loss pygothian. Hopefully the IS-F won't disappoint.
  16. Did you just call once? Just call them again. A stuff up can happen once in a while. That would be an interesting collection, C63 and an IS-F. I would be curious to know which one you'd prefer driving...
  17. I'm not after technicalities, just where can I get it done :) Is it something that the dealer can do?
  18. Nice buy! I've had one as a service rental over a weekend when I had my service done. I was really impressed with it, especially how much power it has, and its refinement (no surprise there). And it's so comfy to drive too. The shape of the new one is still yet to grow on me though...
  19. Can you give us more details? I'm interested in number 2. How do you add video input into the screen??
  20. Hey mate, 1). Nope, TV tuner is not fitted. The JDM IS250 has a TV tuner though. If you really wanted one I suppose you can swap it over. I am not sure how much effort is involved with that though. Then again, you may get Jap language interface as a bonus with that too :) 2) It onlyplays DVD's. Won't play avi's or DivX or anything like that. I guess Lexus can update the firmware to make it play it. But as far as I know, no car manufacturer does it anyway. As far as the aux question goes, it's just for sound. It won't play the video off the iPod. Not that I've tried, but the manual makes no mention of it. See how you go, woudl be great if it did!
  21. No, crystal mist is available across the whole range, from Prestige to SL. I think I know which colour you're referring to, no, it's not it. Crystal mist is a white colour. You put the car out in sun shine, the reflection will be light blue colour. THe effect is sort of similar to the Harlequin paint, sort of. It's hard to describe hey, just drive past Lexus of Perth. I just looked on their site, they have some in stock in the used car yard :) I'm surprised you didn't have to pay DD? Back when they had the 0% finance offer few months ago, I went there, and they were charging DD on demos with 5K kays on them. The cars were obviously registered too... may have been due to the 0% offer perhaps, but yeah, that put me off a little, as the price advertised didn't include DD or on roads. You think you'll be paying 58K for one when you step in there, then you find out it's more like 68K...
  22. Hmmm, not exactly yellowish/golden. That does sound like closer to pearl white, but not sure. They do tend to differ between individual cars by a bit apparently. Crystal Mist I saw had a distinctive light blue reflection off the white, at some angles the car looked light metallic blue, while the rest of it was white. If that makes sense :\ If I was buying an IS right now, that's the only colour I'd pick now, it really stands out, much more than pearl. It's not available on other lexus models though. Another way to distinguish pearl from crystal is that pearl white paint looks bright white in the shade, whereas the crystal one is a bit darker shade of white... go past a dealer on a sunny day and check it out. I'd post a photo, but you won't see it as the camera just doesn't capture the effect (I tried haha)
  23. Not over 100K, over 180K, as that's where the top marginal tax rate kicks in... Reason being is that if you earn anything less than that, and say are on 30% for example, the FBT rate is 46.5%. So while you may be saving 30% of your tax in claiming your running costs through your salary with the fully maintained novated lease, you get slugged more with the FBT as the FBT rate is 46.5%...
