Danslex How much dust you get from the brakes with the green stuff pads? I'm happy with the standard ability of the brakes for my use but find the dust atrocious. I have no way to measure it, so I can only say, definately less than OEM pads. ;) With Green Stuff it would take about 3 weeks for dust to become really noticeable. With OEM pads, just over a week... for me anyway, I do 25K kays pa. The green stuff dust wouldn't be as thick as the OEM dust too, so takes less effort to clean the wheels (although that's probably due to lesser build up of dust, who knows). Either way, you'll notice an improvement. I haven't yet checked if they're available for IS250, but would be very surprised if they weren't. My pads are due to be changed soon, so might have to check. If you want to be super clean, then I'd recommend Red Stuff pads, however they are proper race-spec pads, very harsh, need to warm up properly to work (the warmer they are, the harder they grip, no fade). And most importantly, will ruin your rotors within a space of 6 months lol! Losiho, it must be just your dealer. I've only ever bought one used car at Lexus of Perth, over 2 years ago, yet I still get invites for everything.

My rotors needed machining. Decided to replace them altogether with RDA slotted rotors, cost me 245 bucks. I'm not sure if they're available for IS250, but in my old IS300 I installed EBC Green Stuff pads, they were about 200 bucks for the front set. This combo will be 10 times more effective than any OEM Lexus stuff, and much much cheaper.

Supercharge Or Turbo
DANSLEX replied to andydecor's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 / Toyota Altezza Club
PeppeX, why not put a manual gearbox into an IS300? You would have to replace the stock IS200 gearbox anyway, as it won't handle the power of a turbo 2J, so might as well go IS300... Having said that 2JZ-GE and 2JZ-GTE have different compression, so you may encounter some minor issues with putting a turbo on a stock IS300 engine, nothing that can't be overcome though. I think the difference is the shape of the pistons (hence difference compression), and the fact that there is no oil squrters on them in the GE engine... otherwise they are identical. -
Generally there is a problem with the seat bolts. I usually have to have them tightened at each service. Mostly driver's seat, but if you have a passenger very often, the passenger seat is also susceptible to those squeeks. I think it's just one bolt that's at fault, don't ask me which one though, no idea :P

Ls400 Perth

I believe it is the same as in toyota soarer. Check soarercentral.com someone there will probably have spares. -
LOL! You don't put the satnav disc into your stereo deck. The satnav computer and DVD drive is located in your boot. Open it, take out the carpet. Remove the big plastic thing that holds the tools, you will notice on the driver's side of the vehicle, there is a metal box. In order to get to the disc, you will also need to remove the spare wheel, as it sort of blocks access. Once that is done, just undo the two screws holding the plate (on side, facing the spare wheel). That will uncover the DVD slot. Slide a little slider switch to the side, exposing the eject button. Make sure keys are in ACC position. Press eject, old disc pops out. Insert new disc, and you're done. :)

Supercharge Or Turbo

Oh man! Bad luck! Just get an IS300, then chuck a turbo on it, and Bob's your uncle ;) -
Value Guideline

Given a local aus delivered ES300 of the same age with working satnav goes for low 20s, I'd say probably mid 10s? -
Supercharge Or Turbo

You'll be better off dropping in a 2JZ-GTE engine out of a Supra or Aristo half cut mate, than doing anything to your current engine. Less trouble, better results. Drops straight in, as it is the same engine as the IS300 (plus the turbos of course). -
Oh dear... Guys! Our cars are less than 4 years old!! Unless you have kept the car in some rough place with a high exposure to elements, you shouldn't have to use cut and polish, or whatever other fancy name you want to use for it, ie. paint correction. Ever seen an Excel driving around, mostly red ones with paint that looks like it's faded and about to fall off? Thats what cut and polish is for. Not a near new luxury car. If your paint is truly buggered, see if warranty can cover it. Otherwise a simple detail (not cut and polish) should do the job. Rubbing off the clearcoat is the last thing I would do to a near new IS... Same goes for a respray. For a buyer, it will scream out DODGY! Personally I woudln't buy a resprayed car, unless it's 20+ years old or something...

Ah, cheers for that! Will be easier explaining it to them, especially in winter time when there is no heat haha. It's gotta be the same thing, my car's build is 02/06. The speaker grilles, I think perhaps the bolts or whatever have come loose over time, so maybe they just need tightening. I'll let them sort it out.

Yeah will do. Service is due in about 3 months time, I'll get them to look over it then. It gets annoying sometimes. Drivers side door also squeeks a little when you grab the handle. New ones don't. Got a few more rattles to fix as well, something squeeks lots around the rear parcel shelf on a hot day. Obviously somehting is expanding due to heat and making a lot of noise. I try to avoid giving people lifts on a hot day, as it is embarassing to have a Lexus do that, it's quite loud! All in all, nothing major, but there's a few rough edges with the car unfortuantely. Got about a year left till the warranty expires, need to get these things sorted prior to that :P

A lot of the bass is dependant on the track itself. Some tracks are either not recorded with proper bass line or are badly compressed. Most of Pendulum tracks sound awesome on the ML, for example Sounds of Life past 1 minute mark, the bass gets insane. Was the track I used to compare to my mate's stereo in his brand new E class. Let's just say he was depressed after that haha. One problem I find with the sound system (and it's probably just my car), is that once I crank it up too much (or even half way), some speakers crackle. I'm guessing it's the plastic covering, as when I touch it and push it, the crackling stops. Does anyone else have this problem? Thinking of taking it in under warranty...
