  1. Just giving my fellow DIY members a heads-up, the popular Arcan car jack is now back in stock at Costco!!! $149.99 great value for a 1.8 ton lifting capacity, similar ones at Repco or eBay is selling for over $300 Apparently, the previous blue colour one was recalled from Costco because safety defect. Get it quick guys!!!
  2. Mate, you're a champ!! Thanks for the photos, at least now I know what to look for.
  3. Hi Guys, I've got a stripped set of 2012 DRL Headlights, trying to piece together all the missing components. Now, the new OEM ballast I purchased has just arrived but there is no bolts. I don't know if Lexus sell these bolts separately or not. Can't really find any suitable ones in Bunnings and Repco. Can someone tell me what bolts and their size are needed to screw the OEM ballast under the headlight assembly? As far as I can see there are four bolts need for each ballast? See attached photo.
  4. OK, Sewell is selling a pre-painted GFX lip for $460 USD, I imaging the shipping cost will be at least another $100. Anyone know if Oz Dealer still selling this?
  5. OK, long story short. My OEM lip cracked when driving out of a sloping driveway. I went cheap and bought a replica GFX front lip from eBay, it turns out to be nasty quality, the middle bit fits but with big gaps at the side. So now, looking to buy a genuine front lip, prefer GFX. Other aftermarket brand is ok as well, as long as good fitment. Or if anyone has a spare OEM front lip. 0408 266 666 - WIlliam
  6. Rhodes sounds good to me mate. I live across the road. I can bring my Weber Q if you want to setup a BBQ.
  7. Yep, it's a 55w digital kit, the maker only carry up to D2S bulbs, so I'll have to modify the bulb base to fit in D4S socket. I might look into the OEM HID setup if it's as easy to install as what Danny said.
  8. John, got any more info on the module/relays? Where I can buy it from? Chatswood Lexus was going to link the DRL to the park light switch as they have no idea how to make it work like OEM. I really want it to function like OEM. There is a lot of info on the US forum, but from what I can gather, their headlight wiring is different to ours. Once I get everything sorted out, I'll post up a DIY guide to help the next guy.
  9. Thanks for the info guys! With my current hid setup, I followed the DIY guide on the Club Lexus forum, drilled holes on the headlight housing cover to run the wiring out to the ballast. This particular aftermarket HID conversion kit came with plugs that sealed up the holes nicely. Now with this new headlight, I thought about using the OEM ballast, but all info I heard is that it'll require baking the headlight, open up to insert the OEM ballast properly. This sounds a bit risky and complicate to me. So I opted to go aftermarket HID instead. Since I already has the aftermarket ballast, I've since purchased a new set of D4S bulbs for the new headlight.
  10. Guys, Got my car serviced at Chatswood Lexus last week and asked them to install a brand new set of 2012 DRL Headlights for me. It's an Australian spec "stripped set" I bought from eBay, I had high hope for this. But it turns out the "stripped set" is missing a few essential bits if you retrofitting them on the older model of 2IS. According to Chatswood Lexus, I need the following additional parts: LX-8112553540 - Headlamp Loom Harness $92 pair LX-8110753501 - Control Module/Ballast $950 pair LX-9007566004 - Locking Cap $32 pair My car is a 2007 X-edition, which didn't have the factory xenon option. I currently run a aftermarket HID conversion kit on the existing headlight unit. Now, the question is if I want to re-use the existing aftermarket HID, do I still need to buy the control module (LX-8110753501)? Also, do I need anything else?
  11. Managed to hunt down a brand new AUDM Driver Side DRL headlight, now looking for the Passenger / Left Hand Side to match. I know it'll be a long shot to find only one side, let along AUDM. But eBay ones are all USDM ones. Anyone selling here?
  12. Flick thru the US CL forum, notice a few guys rocking this front end. Seems to be similar to the 3GS front. Anyone what kit is this? Or is it a retro it? What you think of the look?
  13. For DIY - Cut the bolts, apply the industrial 3M double side sticky tape, then asked a mate to help you align the wing carefully and press it down for a few minutes. I have not heard anyone has their wings fly off yet. Mine has been sticked on for 6 month, been thru hot, cold, humi and dry weather, daily motor way driving no problem so far. For Dealer Installation - Sydney City or Chatwood Lexus should be able to do it for a few hundred dollars!!! Search for FrankyX old post.
  14. I've been running my DBA T2 Slotted Rotor and EBC Greenstuff combo for over one year, appox 15000Km now. Personally, I don't feel much difference in braking perfomance against the OEM one, maybe just a little bit better when the brake pads warm up. But it does generate a lot less brake dust than OEM. At start, the combo made hell lot of squeaking noise for the first 1000km, I abosulately hate it. But slowly faded away after applied some Bendix brake lubricant and no more squeaking after run in. IMHO, unless you take your car to race track, or do some heavy braking test, I don't think you'll notice any difference between the Greenstuff, Redstuff or CT. Just choose the colour you like. LOL
  15. Hey mate, good to see you DIY the oil change. I bought the exact wrench from amazon not long agao after numerous online research. The Assenmacher is most recommended one, apparently all the other ones are lower quality and worn out after a few use. As tony mentioned, having a oil filter wrench makes thing a lot easier to un-do the filter housing. I think this is be best money I ever spent for my car and you can use for a long time. So which engine oil you using? and where did you bought your oil filter?
  16. Thanks for the feedbacks guys! I went down to the local Autobahn and the rep recommonded Motul, so I bought the last 2 bottles of 5L Motul Eco 8100 5w30, I don't think they even stock much of these. Going to change oil & filter this weekend, I'll see how this plays out.
  17. LAST ONE SOLD!!!! Admin plz lock this post, thanks.
  18. Thanks for the advice Carl! 100K is already the highest km car I ever owned, usually I change to a younger car before reach that, but I guess this time the IS is a keeper. Funny thing is, after the major 90K service, I'm acutally getting better milages with the thicker oil (10W40). I used to only get less than 500Km per tank, but now it's at least 550Km each tank. I think I'll try 5w30 this time, may be Mobil 1
