  1. That's actually cheap. Depending on the fitting cost you've got a good price. Remember the dealer fitted one is tested for compliance with the airbags etc. Possibly important for insurance purposes.
  2. Reverse & neutral of course.......der!!! Very funny though Aircon, I like your sense of humour. Especially when some don't realised you're being funny. I must admit that this thread has given me a laugh from the start.
  3. I hope they put the HUD(Heads up display) that is in the new RX Sports Luxury. It is probably the feature I like the most at the moment. After driving with it and then getting back into an IS you really miss it. So I hope it is added to the IS range.
  4. I like the concept car way more: What are your thoughts on this car people? ◦The CT is built on an all new platform with a double-wishbone rear and tuned McPherson strut front suspension ◦The 1.8L VVT-i engine found in the Prius is confirmed as the engine component of the CT 200h’s powertrain. No mention is made of overall horsepower. ◦There will be four distinct driving modes: EV, Eco, Normal & Sport. Switching to sport will change the instrument panel and center console spotlight to red. (Nice touch!) ◦Overall dimensions: ◦Length: 4,320mm/170” ◦Width: 1,765mm/69.5” ◦Height: 1,430mm/56.3” ◦Wheelbase: 2,600mm/102.4”
  5. I would be leaning more towards this kind of unit. Does anyone know if there are there any local dealers / resellers here in Australia? I'd like to source locally before I go offshore Check your PM's
  6. Congratulaions on the baby Saphire....and yes that would explain you moving us all to the USA and driving LHD. :) Again I am pretty sure that the IS250 RRP won't go down when the IS350 lands. The RX350 didn't go down when the RX400h was released. And 2 dealers getting stuck with a bit of stock out of 23 nation wide isn't a farse. In NSW dealers were buying RX's in from other dealers to fill orders. Sure there were some attractive deals being offered and resale dipped for a bit but once they were all gone and the new model was a bit dearer, resale values bumped back up. Anyhow what would I know......its sounds like you know whats going on. Regardless the IS350 will be an absolute CRACKER. I'm sure we can agree on that.
  7. RX350: 2GR-FE 2GR-FE engine in the 2008 Lexus RX 350The 2GR-FE is a 3.5 L (3456 cc) version. Bore remains at 94 mm but stroke is reduced to 83 mm. Reported output varies depending on the vehicle application, but is approximately 268 hp (200 kW) at 6200 rpm with 248 lb·ft (336 N·m) of torque at 4700 rpm on 87 octane (R+M/2). This version features Toyota's Dual VVT-i, variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust cams. Valves are driven by roller-follower rocker arms with low friction roller bearings, and a unique, concave cam lobe design to increase valve lift over the traditional shimless lifter type system of the 1GR-FE. This increases overall cylinder head height to accommodate the slightly taller roller rocker system. Moreover, the cylinder head is segmented into 3 parts: valve cover, camshaft sub-assembly housing, and cylinder head sub-assembly. As such, this valvetrain is used across all other GR engines with Dual VVT-i. Its service weight is 163 kg. IS350: 2GR-FSE 2GR-FSE engine in the 2008 CrownThe 2GR-FSE engine used in the Lexus IS 350 incorporates Toyota's latest D4-S twin injection fuel system. This system combines direct injection with traditional port injection. Using direct injection and port injection simultaneously facilitates more precise mixing of air and fuel under low and medium load conditions for greater efficiency, while high load conditions dictate the use of direct injection alone for maximum power. The 2GR-FSE engine is rated at 315 PS (232 kW; 311 hp) at 6,400 RPM and 38.4 kg·m (377 N·m; 278 ft·lbf) at 4,800 RPM. The engine's service weight is 174 kg. The 2GR-FSE was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. http://wardsauto.com/reports/2009/tenbest/
  8. No I don't have an IS-F. It wouldn't be right to bring an IS-F to an IS250 cruise? I thought it would be like a 21 year old playing in an under 16's footy match. lol. Maybe it would be fun???
  9. As I mentioned before the VAIS USB unit is a bit dearer but gives you options of usage over the iPod only unit.
  10. You're right Danny. It reads harsher than it was meant. But come on.......left or right hand drive in Oz is common knowledge. LEX51S is right....this thread has gone off course with people bitching about price when we don't even know what it is. Lets focus on how awesome this car is. I want to put IS250 badges on mine straight away and really freak out some BMW & Merc drivers.LOL By the way ilv1004s, I sold my Blue IS so you'll see something different at the cruise...whenever that is? ;)
  11. I've heard there are 3 different sounds you can program this to. 1. Lexus/Toyota: which you have 2. BMW sound: but then the diff starts leaking oil 3. Merc sound: but then the Electrics start playing up :D
  12. There's not going to be big numbers of IS350's coming into Australia. So I doubt the market will be FLOODED with IS250's. You made me laugh with that one Left hand drive in Australia???? What are you smoking? Also IS250 won't be getting cheaper. Again with the Left hand Drive. At run out on the RX stock levels in Australia were very moderate compared to prevous runouts. Well at least you're consistant.....its all way off
  13. And the rest you've missed Plus 10% GST Plus 5% Stamp duty Plus 33% Luxury car tax. Add it up....it stinks. I agree with everything you said except I think its the government thats screwing us the most.
  14. You're speaking to the wrong dealer. http://www.vaistech.com/products/vml_products.php Not sure if its that simple. I've seen one fitted that played both iPod & USB but didn't work or display 100% but after a second attempt and a bit of fiddling by the installer it worked perfect. Go on Jom, you know you want one.
  15. Not going to happen. Prices on IS250 went down on January 1 by $2,500-3,500. You guys have to get your heads around this car and stop comparing it to IS250 for price. Its true competitor is the BMW 335i. Price on that baby starts approx $107,300(plus ORC) with no sunroof & no metallic paint. http://www.redbook.com.au/new-cars/details.aspx?R=452615&Cr=6&__Ns=p_OverallGreenStarRating_Decimal%7c1%7c%7cp_Make_String%7c0%7c%7cp_Family_String%7c0&__N=2994%202951%204294843807%204294964888&silo=1301&seot=1&__Nne=15&trecs=12&__sid=126DB939544D Add those two options and its $111,920 (metallic paint $1700; sunroof $2920)plus ORC Another way of looking at it is that a GS300 sports Lux is $115,889 on road with less power (183kw). The price all depends on what Lexus Australia can negotiate with Lexus Japan. Just like we do with the dealer. This varies with the number they project to sell and the spec levels they choose. The bigger the number the better the price. I don't think the numbers on IS350 will be that big. The GS series sell in much smaller numbers than IS250. Its logical that the dearer the car the less you sell. So if the IS350 starts at $80,000 as someone has guessed, I will dance in the streets. In an IS350 lol. I don't think this is a car that a lot of IS250 owners will buy straight away as it will be a different price level.
  16. Well USB plug is now standard. I believe that our Nav systems will be moving away from DVD to hard drive system. Hopefully some of that memory will be usable. Also Bluetooth streaming should be not too far away.
  17. Yes I believe you are correct that it is the same one. I think the VAIS is what all Lexus dealers are fitting. I don't know of another option. Except all late '09 on IS250 come with a factory USB which IMO works better. As a tip if any of you decide to get a VAIS installed don't go for the iPod specific kit. Instead get the USB kit. Its the same except for the end connection. This way you can still run an Ipod just the same but also have the option of running other accessories. A USB flash drive works great and is much less of a risk left in the car.
  18. The HS250h won't be getting a facelift or another generation. I think this model will cease eventually.
  19. I agree. Did you miss this comment? I'll try to find out what changes they are looking at.
  20. That's right the car we should have had years ago will definitely be in showrooms in 2010. August production for Australia is what I'm hearing. Just like the 250 line up there will be Prestige, Sports Luxury & an F-Sport version. I also believe that the IS line up will recieve a bit of a freshen up at the same time. Also a few changes to the colour choices. I've also got some exciting news on the rest of the range but I probably should post that in General Lexus Discussions Forums shouldn't I?
  21. That performance gain will be lost as soon as you eat lunch. Power to weight ratio my friend is everything. Eat less go faster.
