  1. Can't help with recommendations for places but I'd expect to pay upwards of $500 to have that bumper repaired, prepared and totally resprayed (entire bar, no blending) properly. I'm not 100% sure, but I doubt buying a new bumper through Lexus would see it come painted. Usually they are just raw plastic so you'd still need to have it sprayed. Is the bumper creased/damaged at all? If not, there's not much point in buying a new one (unless they do in fact come factory painted). Sucks when this happens and the scumbags don't leave any details. :( I couldn't sleep soundly if I did that to someone else's car and nicked off..
  2. My auto wipers work flawlessly - best I've experienced. Lexus' hydrophobic coating on their glass also helps massively with repelling the water off the windscreen! Auto headlights are always a bit late to illuminate - may have to get the sensitivity looked at.
  3. I think it's a dealer only activation. There's a few features they can lock/unlock such as disabling the audible door lock/unlock beeper, disabling the parking position for cars with electronically adjusted steering columns etc. I reckon this would be another of those features.

  5. My IS350 does it, always has done. Dealer showed me the feature during delivery. Often use it when I'm walking up to my car after it has been sitting in the sun all day - hold the unlock button as soon as I'm in range and let some of the heat out before I get in. Never leave my windows down or sunroof open/tilted because I don't like getting dust in my car so never really have to use the auto close function.
  6. I'd say it'd be an easier transplant in a Mercedes because most (if not all) of their model variants come with a dedicated diesel powered version. You must be doing a fair bit of driving in order to recoup the cost of such a conversion, wouldn't you? I guess anything is possible and can be done - but if it were me, I'd just buy a car that's diesel in the first place.
  7. Just went and checked on my 350 and my passenger side wiper is sitting the same as yours but the drivers side is lower - the top tip of the drivers side wiper blade very nearly meets the bottom tip of the passenger side one... As I said though, no idea about electronically adjusting them. If it were possible, I reckon it'd be a dealer resolution.
  8. How close do they swipe to the windscreen pillar? Have the wiper arms ever been removed (ie has a new windscreen ever been fitted)? They may not have been re-fitted at the correct resting/parking position - if this was the case then they'd be swiping very close to the edge of the windscreen/A Pillar. If this is the case they can easily be removed (unclip the plastic cover at the base of the wiper arm and remove the bolt) and re-aligned. As for actually adjusting how far they swipe or don't swipe, I have no idea and wouldn't think it'd be possible to adjust that??
  9. Just got back from the 430km round trip to the dealer. Was rattling like crazy the whole way there and when the technician took it for a drive with me which was good. They had a good idea of what was causing it so they put me in an IS250 loaner (they are lacking in power a bit in comparison after getting out of an IS350 lol) while they fixed it. They applied insulating felt tape to the RH side of the instrument cluster and plastic surround - seems to have done the job! Surround and cluster seem a bit more solid but if you push on either of them you can still get a bit of a squeak - but was silent the whole way home. Very professional and helpful dealer, very impressed once again.
  10. Thanks. Only trouble with that is that my dealer is 200kms (2.5hrs) away, so makes it difficult to simply keep taking it back. I have a Lexus Service centre here that does genuine servicing/warranty and provides a loan car and everything but they have pretty much told me to go back to the main dealer if it's going to be a 'dash out' job.
  11. Cheers Richo. May be an IS350 specific issue from a certain build date? When was yours made? I've noticed I can replicate the noise (or a very similar noise) by moving/pressing the plastic surround around the clear plastic instrument display cover. Although I'm not certain that is what the problem is - if I press on it when I hear the rattle/squeak it doesn't seem to stop it. I don't have to be on particularly rough road for it rattle/squeak and it's usually constant on coarse chip bitumen - when the dash has warmed up of course. Annoys the hell out of me when it's doing it!! Will let you know how I get on at the dealer.
  12. Hey guys. I've got a 08/2011 Lexus IS350 F Sport - sensational car, apart from the severe dash rattle/squeak it has at times. Have noticed this virtually since day one (early September) and have now done 7,000+ kms. Basically, from what I can work out, if the car sits in the sun for a few hours it gets a very annoying, consistent rattle coming from the R/H side of the dash. I had the R/H outter air vent assembly replaced under warranty a few thousand kms back as it was suspected that that was what was causing the issue. I had to drive the car for 3 hours on Boxing Day, highway driving on coarse chip bitumen and the rattle/squeak was VERY irritating. It sounds very much like Polystyrene rubbing on itself or another similar surface. If I put downward pressure from the palm of my hand on the top of the dash (above the instrument cluster), or press the dash in below the RH outter air vent assembly, the noise will stop completely. It isn't always present (I don't hear it driving to work when the car is cold etc) and it varies in it's severity but not consistently - sometimes is severe on residential streets, sometimes it isn't. It appears (to me) as if something (foam/insulation/plastic materials?) is expanding in the heat and rubbing on another similar surface....? Has anyone else with an IS experienced this? I have the car booked back in at the dealer on Thursday for further rectification - just looking for any extra information before I make the 2.5hr drive. Thanks! Ben
  13. My IS350 F Sport has the Mark Levinson Premium Surround System - I think it's great for a factory fitted audio system. I use a USB stick in the USB drive for my music rather than connect my iPhone every time I get in and out. Easily able to control song selection via the touch screen and/or steering wheel controls. Can select random/shuffle etc through the audio function on the EMV Screen. I wish we could get the ventilated seats in the F Sport too, I notice they do heat up a little too much in the hot weather - but no worse than any other car with a black leather interior. I haven't actually driven a Sports Luxury so don't know how they compare to the F Sport model but my mum has an E90 320i M Sport and, without being biased, the Lexus leaves it for dead in terms of ride quality, refinement and comfort. The IS350 doesn't suffer (thank god) from the woeful Run Flats BMW persist with. As for the lockout on Nav/Phone functions - a few of the options/buttons on the touch screen simply disable themselves as you take off. They reactivate as soon as you come to a stop (red light etc) but it is a little annoying. The Voice Activated Dialing helps overcome the phone lockout though. I reckon you should be pretty impressed by the IS350 - better than an E90 in a lot of ways IMO.
  14. Renewal notice arrived in the post last week. AAMI 09/2011 IS350 F Sport - 23 year old - Rating One for life/Gold Status - Agreed Value $82,000 $800.55 incl Windscreen Cover for 12 months cover. Maximum excess (approx. $2000 in total). With normal excess I think it's around $1300.
  15. I had this happen with my IS350 F Sport over the weekend too. Music playing, map displayed - then all of a sudden there was silence and a black screen. The Lexus logo appeared, followed by the map and then the music resumed at the same point it cut out. Was all over and done with relatively quickly. Has only happened the once but will definately monitor it and report back if it happens again. If it becomes persistent - I'll let the dealer know.
  16. There is a setting called Route Trace I think that plots little red dots every few hundred kms that you drive. Cant remember how you deactivate off the top of my head but mine was doing it for a bit.. Just look for a route trace option in a menu or something...
  17. Can not wait until this is released. My next car when I trade my IS350 F Sport FOR SURE!
  18. Nice. You'll love the 350, I know I do. I'm the same, usually change my car every 18-24months - or as soon as it's paid off - just can't help myself.
  19. Has it affected your Radar Cruise Control? I don't know a lot about the Radar Cruise because I don't have it and haven't had much experience with it. I'd be hitting up your insurance company, definately worth claiming if it is going to cost that much to replace. Of course, depends on your excess/company and all the rest of it etc.
  20. Welcome mate. Nice ride the Sports Luxurys. Grill/Badge would be expensive to replace because it incorporates the sensors for the Radar Cruise Control system - if your car is fitted with Radar Cruise. I have no idea where or even IF you could souce a cheaper replacement unit.
  21. Picked my car up 4 weeks ago, absolutley wrapped with it! Thought I'd throw up a few pics of it. Totally standard (and will probably stay that way) apart from tint and genuine rubber IS floor mats I organised to get shipped in from the UK. Trying to resist the temptation, but may look at adding some of the F Sport parts later down the track. Awesome car for driving the great Tasmanian roads we have about the place - can't wait to get out there more! Cheers, Ben
  22. I bought my first car December 2004 and it was a slightly used 04 Mitsubishi CH Lancer VR-X in Black. Had that for about 9 months then sold it. Then in September 2005 I bought a 2002 Mitsubishi TJ Ralliart Magna (possibly my favourite car I've owned so far) with only 8,000kms on it. Was basically as new. I had this at for 17 months and sold it in February 2007. 3rd car was a Black 2004 Mazda RX-8 with red leather trim. Bought it through a Mazda dealer I worked for at the time. Was a fun car but not very practical. Only had it for 8 months then traded (straight swap for my 4th car... A Blue 2004 Holden VZ SS Commodore sedan in October 2007.. Not sure why I went for one of these. Hardly drove it because fuel got expensive and I bought a Daihatsu Mira to run around for work in. Had this for 22 months until I sold it because I had only done 1,500kms in it in 12 months. Then I bought my current car in August 2009 - a 2009 (brand new) Mitsubishi Ralliart Colt in silver. Thats now been traded on a 2011 IS350 F Sport in pearl white with a moonroof that should be here very soon. Can't wait to pick it up!!
  23. I'd say so. I'm pretty sure I saw it on eBay the other day. Didn't look to have tooooo much damage I didn't think.
