  1. Another tell-tale sign from the exterior is if it has headlight washers (for the Xenon Headlights) in the front bumper just under the headlight itself. Also the Radar Cruise grill emblem and parking sensors are another give away that it's a Sports Luxury.
  2. ^ Final Inspection are setting the benchmark (worldwide) for all areas of Detailing and Products IMO. Their gear is second to none on the worldwide market, made and sold locally (always good to support local manufacturing) and Damian and the team are only too happy to help anyone out who have any queries or concerns. I've never used any products by any other manufacturer that perform as well as Final Inspection, last as long as Final Inspection or go as far as Final Inspection. As a professional detailer myself I've used just about every product on the market at some stage and I also know the AutoKlene range pretty well (referred to by the OP). AutoKlene are ok products for high turnover detailing (used car dealer work etc) but it doesn't even come close to Final Inspection. I use quite a few AK products for such detailing but I never use any of them on my own car - its strictly FI for that purpose. Final Inspection - when used properly (VERY sparingly - a little goes a very long way with all their products), Final Inspection products are VERY good value for money.
  3. Check out shop.finalinspection.com.au I use their General Purpose Cleaner (GPC) and an Interior Microfibre Cleaning Cloth to clean suede/alcantara seats with great success. I run my own detailing business so have tried just about everything and this is by far the best method. Dip the cloth in warm water and wring it out so that it is as wet as a facewasher would be to wash your face, add 2-3 sprays of GPC directly to the cloth and lightly wipe the surface of the suede/alcantara being careful to not get it too wet. It will be better to lightly wipe and allow it to dry a little and repeat than to go heavy handed straight up. Definitely don't spray any cleaner (GPC or other) directly on to the fabric surface or you will end up with a water/chemical mark/ring where it dries. I don't like wet-shampooing these seats because they take forever to dry and it is very difficult to extract the waste from the material. Hope this helps.
  4. I posted the suggestion of television, ventilated seats standard or at least an option across all models and the need for more exterior approach lighting when vehicles are unlocked in the dark. Have a lot of good ideas that have been standard-fare on a lot of other models for many years that I need to add too!
  5. Same scenario as me ^ I've lost count as to how many times mines been back apart from usual services. I also had a horrendous dash rattle that was hopefully fixed last week. Only happened after an hour or so of driving - obviously caused by expansion of some sort of material within the dash. Time will tell if it will return. Another slight rattle has reappeared since they've been pulling things apart too. I'm over it. Time to just turn the stereo up and forget about it. Dash rattle here : ^ totally unacceptable IMO. :( Edit - vid needs to be watched on a PC on HD preferably.
  6. I've just got my IS350 back from the dealer who had it for just over a week fixing various rattles. This was just one of them. Drivers door was adjusted and now feels a little different to close than it did before - feels like it latches a lot tighter and the rattle is gone. They are also replacing the entire door seal (on order from Japan) aswell. I was expecting a rattle free car when paying $80k+ for a new Lexus but it has been back 4 times now in 9 months for various annoying rattles.
  7. I'm a detailer by trade and have tried many, many types of sealants and waxes.. As far as off the shelf products go... Have always been a fan of Meguiars NXT Gen Tech Wax (liquid). I'm a bigger fan of Autoglym High Definition Wax after being told that was what was applied by my dealer during the pre-delivery detail. Also have an old bottle of EagleOne(?) Nanowax that I occasionally use on dark coloured cars that aren't in for paint correction - fills very well to hide swirls etc if that's what you're after. As far as professional products go - IMO, you can't go past Final Inspection in Melbourne. Locally made products to the very highest standards - class leading standards. Their sealants (Seal Strong and Full Metal Jacket) are unreal in their ability to bead/sheet water and self clean. Very much products for the advanced enthusiast though. I've got FMJ on my Lexus and have had it on since October last year (almost 7 months) and it's still beading water as good/if not better than the video posted above. All I do is wash weekly and give it a quick wipe over with their Quick Detailer - Gloss Boost. So easy. Looks and feels incredibly slick and no effort needed by applying and removing a wax every so often. BTW, I don't work for Final Inspection - I just buy my stuff from them - cant recommend them highly enough.
  8. Lexus - Persuit of Perfection. I think they suit people who prefer the finer things in life above all else.. I get the comments of mine being an overpriced Camry and get told I should of bought a real car (MB or BMW).. I'll happily let the haters hate as they drive along in their unrefined, unreliable, overpriced, under optioned dog boxes.
  9. I've twice had new pads and rotors installed at the same time on previous cars (a Ralliart Colt and a Ralliart Magna) without issue or without hearing of issues occurring??
  10. Congrats on your purchase. Service intervals are 15,000kms or 12 months - whichever occurs first and for those sort of intervals it should definitely be fully synthetic oil - however I'm unsure of the viscosity. I have my IS350 serviced every 7,500kms or 6 months in between just for peace of mind so that I know it isn't being left with the same oil and filter for a year. Have done this with all my cars regardless. As for disabling the warning chime - Easiest way would be just to put it in park instead of neutral if you're opening the door or getting in/out. I doubt there's an easy way of disabling it because the dash panel should also tell you at the same time to put the selector in the P position...
  11. The only way I could immagine getting a brand new F Sport for low to mid 70s would be by buying a runout model/last year compliance. Still a brand new car, but it's just been sitting around for a few months. Theres no way (I don't think) that you'd get one for that price if you were to order one (factory order like I had to) - dealers just don't drop that much off a new car unless they really need to move it. Regardless, yours is still significantly cheaper than a new one at full RRP - but as stated above, anything is essentially only worth what someone is willing to pay.
  12. Take in to account though that $83k (I paid $82,236 on road) includes stamp duties, taxes, dealer delivery charges and all the other BS. Actual cost of the car was $71,800 plus moonroof option ($2500) = $74,300. Thats essentially what a new one is worth - not $83k. To get a new 350 - be it prestige or otherwise for $59k (I'm assuming on road) is an incredibly good buy. I don't think yours is overpriced in the slightest. It represents a saving of around $23-24k on the on road cost of a new one which, no matter which way you look at it - is good value. Where do you hve it advertised? Just carsales? Location could be a bit of an issue but you have offered airfares for a purchaser....
  13. I bought mine with the intention of keeping it for 2 years (unless it's paid off earlier - which is looking like it will be the case) and then upgrade to the new model IS if it is out by then - which will be another 12ish months away. It shouldn't have anymore than 30-35,000kms on it by that time and I'm hoping I'll be able to as close to $50k as I can for it. Judging by this I may struggle... Just out of interest - what month/year is yours? xx'10 or xx'11?
  14. Press the compass/arrow button on the very top left corner of the screen. Changes it between north orientated or vehicle direction orientated. Mine did it once and I think it was from wiping the screen clean with the car running - took me ages to work it out too!
  15. Was yours an intermittant problem or once it happened was it constantly like it? Mine is back to normal today?? Not keen on having the cluster removed again as its taken 3 re-visits to the dealer to get it to stop rattling already!
  16. Hey guys.. Noticed today when travelling in a 60 zone that the speedo seemed to be indicating faster than I thought I was going. Whenever I stop, the needle drops and stops at 10km/h - it doesn't return to 0km/h when stationary. I'm guessing I'm not out by 10km/h at all speeds - for example if my speedo indicated I'm doing 60, I'm really doing 50. Tried turning the car off and starting it again, still stays on 10km/h. Photo was taken with the car running, in Park position. Video also of the start-up: Any ideas on how this could have happened? Nothing out of the ordinary has happened - haven't ever hit anything (kerbs/potholes), has only ever seen 'sensible' driving... Nothing I can think of that could effect this? Could this be rectified electronically without taking things apart? Will go to the dealer on Monday - just a bit puzzled as to why it's happened...?
  17. Not sure if it'd be making any difference - but your brake rotors/discs have a quite a lot of surface rust on them!? This is often caused from harsh caustic/acid based wheel cleaners and while looks a bit ugly, it could be causing them to squeal. I'm a car detailer by trade and I often notice brakes squealing after being washed with such aggressive cleaners.
  18. Mixing tyres front and rear doesn't matter. Just don't mix them by putting 2 different types on the same end (front or rear) - make sure they match. I thought IS350s came with Bridgestones?
  19. Just went for a quick play with the settings - I've always had surround ON, tried turning it OFF and it sounded worse to me on FM Radio, USB/AUX and CD. Turned that back on. Changed the EQ settings to those listed above and it improved listening to FM Radio but made little difference to USB/AUX (MP3s). Tried changing it for CD and it just had way too much Treble with it on 4. I always had my EQs set on Treble +1, Mid +1 and Bass +2 all with surround ON. Radio is now T = 4, M = 2 and B = 3. CD and AUX/USB are now T = 2, M = 2 and B = 3. Guess its all highly subjective and it all very much comes down to personal preference and opinion.
  20. Have you noticed on your indicator stalk an auto setting where you switch your headlights on?
  21. I've got mixed impressions about the ML system in my IS350 too. Everyone (salesmen etc) that I spoke to prior to purchasing the car said it was a sensational sound system. I've heard that its unreal in the LS460/600H, but I don't think it's 'sensational' in my IS. Some tracks sound great on it, some not so great. I'm happy enough with it to the point that I won't be modifying it in any way but i think the same as you, it sometimes just seems to lack that little bit of bass punch. I prefer to drive in the "Lexus silence" a lot of the time and mostly have the radio on when I want some noise - and for that it's fine. I was in a Honda Accord Euro the other week though which had a Fleetwood Mac CD in it and I took that and put it in my IS to compare. It sounded much better in the Honda with its no-name stereo than it did in mine - no matter how much I played with the settings. My mother had a Lancer VRX (now my sisters) with the Rockford Fosgate system in it and in that car, I'd say I wasn't that impressed by it in the Lancer - could be a different set up in the Kizashi though. Best sound system I've experienced in a car (factory fitted) IMO, was in my mums old car, a Peugeot 407SV with a JBL Hi-Fi setup. That was outstanding I thought - shame the rest of the car was sh!t. Not sure how the ML system differs in the LS models - I think it's got a few more speakers?
  22. Haven't got an IS-F but have an IS350 F Sport (the next best thing) and the longest trip I've done was a 900km round 2 day trip to the rugged West Coast of Tasmania - some of the best driving roads with NO traffic about. Was a sensational drive, especially Lake Plimsoll/Mt. Murchison Nature Reserve and The 99 Bends out of Queenstown (Mt. Arrowsmith). Also clocked up just under 2000kms between the Christmas/New Year break driving around various parts of Tasmania. Have done just under 9,000kms since September. Love my Lexus :)
  23. The 2 Stage lock/unlock is activated/deactivated (on my IS350 - cant see it being any different in an RX) by holding both the lock and unlock buttons together on the remote for a few seconds until it beeps. Confirmation comes up when it changes on the instrument cluster screen. the power tailgate can be opened automatically from the remote but not from the lever above the rear license plate, as far as I know.
  24. Bit of a threadmine but a good thread...! I got (from Lexus of Hobart) 2 x bottles of wine (one red, one white), a Lexus Pen, 3 x Lexus Keyrings, a Lexus Golf Umbrella, an Insulated Stainless Steel Lexus Travel Mug, a Lexus Carry Bag and a Gold Entertainment Book filled with local discount vouchers for restaurants and various places throughout Australia etc. Car also had a full tank of fuel - as any new car should! At my first service I got a free magazine, free bottle of water, free packet of black and white Lexus jellybeans and a bottle of Lexus Injector Cleaner. Can't complain with the Freebies that's for sure!
