Ok so i just got 18s and the car is a Prestige with oem springs.

When i look at the gap, it's not that bad but i want it lowered by a little. Looking for clearance, on the inside front their is a little pin (part of the assembly) that is around 2cm to the rubber. I'm thinking this is not part of the coils so i can safely lower the car by and the rubber won't rub against this pin right?

I'll be putting pedders lows on, anyone know how much lowering this will be?

Congrats on the purchase. Mate, just a suggestion, post up a pic with the new wheels. Alot easier to make suggestions regarding the amount of drop. If the wheels have an oem look, and don't fill the guards in regards to width, I wouldn't go to agressive with your drop because it just won't look right in my opinion.

As far as this "pin", I assume you are talking about the steering arm. Regardless, the drop won't have a huge affect on how close, but rather the off-set you went with.

What are the specs of ya wheels?? Again, pics LDC and lets see what we can come up with.

As for the Pedders, I know nothing about them. Find my suspension thread. If you aren't after a drastic drop, try the Eibach pro-kit.

Chat soon!

I think it may well be the pin on the steering arm...no where near the springs.

Also, how hard will it be to replace the springs, and who would be best to do it?

I'm thinking Front = 0.5", Rear = 1". I want to be conservative cos i'm not the only driver :(I What do u think?

Wheels are 18x8.0 with offset +40 and 225/40 tyres.

chaning spring aint hard

with those wheel specs u can go down to 2.5" or even more.

the wheels wont even touch the guards

my silver 250 was dropped on teins

for reference look at the tein group buy sticky

and i had 18x8's on that too

Wow 2.5" is like twice as much as i would want i would think.

Would you know how low the drop is before you need to worry about cambers?

altering any cars suspension will have an effect on the camber

I'd say 2" is the most before u start having major problems

2" is like 3 fingers wide. I think at most 2 fingers wide on the rear would be good for me, that would be 1.5", however there is the sagging so 1" would be it.

The distance from my fender to the rim (not tyre) is 12cm. How much is yours?

Hey Ldc,

Like Danny said, you can drop as much as you want with those wheels! Plenty of clearance with that width and off-set. It is your call!! My opinion though would be "less is more" in this case. These rims are "non aggressive" so to speak! Like I mentioned earlier, oem look with the wheels should reflect a oem drop. Not too much!

As far as fitment of the springs, if you are buying local, get that joint to fit em! Probably cheaper if they do! Should cost you about $200-$300 tops! or you will find common places like Jaxx that will fit them!

Again, like Danny said, for a Jap car, I would go with the reputable springs like Tein, Eibachs, F-sport, H&R, etc.

Dig through the threads!!!wink.gif

BTW, 1 other thing, did you keep the Lexus C caps from your 16's??

Everyone knows that the black ones are imitation and you can get them from ebay!! Put your oem ones in, they will look a treat with those wheels!!!biggrin.gif

hehe yeh i still got the oem ones...dont want to be loosing them so i might keep the black ones as are.

So the labour cost is $200-$300?

I'll right around and ask for quotes, thanks for the tips.

Btw, the gap now wouldn't be that much different to the nake eyes to the sports models, and i could live with it but dropping would make a noticable difference i recon.

Pdders are better than Kings mate

Are you sure?? I had both and I found it the other way round (On a different car)

Pedders are more softer - Kings are more hard

might feel that way

but overall ride quality

the way the car takes bumps and cornering ability the kings where just shot.

Its ok its fixable. Not too expensive either. Depending on how bad of course.

It's only on the perimeter, no spokes scrateches.

MR13XS, i recon you should have told them exactly what you intended to tell them.

Today i pulled up to a sports model with stockies and i cannot distiguish the gaps between mine and his. Looks very similar. So then i'm thinking lowering 1" would be quite enough.

wow, nearly $1000 for springs and install,

LMAO

should have told em just that, although im young and new to all this, i know spending close to $1000 for that is just insane

but then again, i dont wanna be taking my car apart just now, cuz i dont have lots of experience

so my plan is to experiment on my friend's cars, hehehehe

Holden Astina, Honda Integra, some old pick up truck, a really really old Corolla and last of all, a VW Passat

their cars are ALOT cheaper than mine, and we can experiment on them

then me and other lucky friends with "expensive" cars can do it to ours, :D

This sounds like a poor attitude to your friends.

I'm sure your "friends" cars mean just as must to them despite the value.

Never let the price of a car make you think its more or less valuable to someone.

Besides I'm guessing its their car not their Mum's.

nar, their the ones that suggested it actually

my friends that are actually into cars said, lets mod our cars first

dont have anything planned, but wanna do some stuff they did on Might Car Mods

things like "making ur car black" "paint ur brake calipers"

i thought it would be a great idea, and i could learn alot from the experience

we not just "using" each others cars just for experiments

they wanna mod their cars, so im gonna help em, and get some experience on the way

i already helped a mate clean his interior and wash the car

we had round 4 mates that turned up to help and he was giving free drinks, :D

I got Pedders on mine 6 months ago.

Called a couple up, dealed two down to $600 supplied/fitted/aligned

Ride height is sweet, the back is a touch lower than the front. Overall Pedders supposed to drop 38mm

Ride quality hasnt changed much, still smooth - depends also on wheel size and pressure

Sorry no snaps of the ride height!
