Hi Guys,

Just brought a 2007 IS250X today, has been looking for one for sometime, finally this one comes up.

I'm full of joy at the moment, really happy to become a Lexus owner!

Got a few questions would like to seek your helps on:

1. Does the 07' IS250X come with HID headlight? (My car bumper doesn't have headlight washer, so I guess no HID?)

- Sorted! Ordered 55W H11 set for low beam and 9006 set for fog-light, both 6000K from USA Retro-solution.

2. What aftermarket HID kit can I use? D2S Bulb? Any recommendation?

- As Above

3. What's the OEM tyre & size for the IS250X? Any other brand you recommend?

- Sorted! Got a good deal on a set of Toyo Proxes 4 from Taleb Tyres, not the best but does the job. Thanks to Danny for the size info.

4. Any recommendation on brake pads? Or just go with OEM?

- Sorted! Thanks to Sherlock, brought DBA T2 slotted front rotor and EBC greenstuff pads from him. Installed, very nice, a bit nosier than OEM but no worries. :)

5. This is for Sydney siders, which workshop do you recommend for servicing? Rhodes or Chatswood area.

- Still open for suggestions, but I took the car to Chatswood Lexus this time and very happy with them. So I guess I'll go back to them for future major services until the car depreciates to a certain low value.

6. Any online shops to buy OEM [X] badge? Checked Sewell, North Miami, don't seem to carry the [X] badge.

- Sorted! $53 from Chatswood Lexus, so even cheaper than eBay. I guess I'll just buy from them.

7. After install EBC Greensuff Brake Pads (Or Any aftermarket brake pads in general.), brakes now squeaking/more noisy than OEM, pretty annoying... especially when GF complaining the noise :P.

- Sorted! Well, 99.9% Sorted! Got the dealer to apply the Bendix Brake Lubricant, works beautifully! No more squeaking! Highly recommendated to anyone having braking noise problem. The lubricant is also available at AutoBahn for $2.5 a pack. Advice from Sherlock - ONLY apply a little bit between SHIM and back of the pads, also a little on the lips of piston.

Bendix Brake Lubricant Fix http://www.bendix.co...brake_lubricant

8. Engine Clicking Noise - See my post below: http://au.lexusowner...indpost&p=37483

- Sorted! Dealer confirmed direct injection noise...

9. Auto Folding Side Mirrors

- Sorted! Dealer confirmed Pre Aug 2007 IS250 DOES NOT have this feature!

So aftermarket solution only -> Ashpoint http://au.lexusowner...showtopic=10473

Thanks in Advance!

Kyo

Updated!

Thanks to Danny & Sherlock for your help.

New Question - Question 6

My IS250X comes with [X] badges at both sides, one side got a "]" fallen off from high pressure car wash maybe?, so right now it looks like "[X". Hoping to fix it up.

Any online shops to buy OEM [X] badge? Checked Sewell, North Miami, don't seem to carry the [X] badge.

I know I can go local dealer, but don't really wish to pay hundreds for a set of badges.

Btw, searched forum, can't find any real info.

from what i know lexus chatswood have a very good reputation.... but never do it at MRT performance at Rhodes...they will ruin your car hahaha...

Hey Sherlock, yeh my colleague serviced his wrx at MRT before, said it wasn't cheap almost same as the dealers, guess no way I'm going there!

Got the DBA rotor & pads installed by my mechanic yesterday, the car feels breaking a lot better now. :)

Check eBay - I've seen some being on sale

Thanks Champ!

Update!

Going to buy the "[X]" decal from Chatswood Lexus, cost $53, cheaper than the eBay one.

Thanks all for the help.

New Problem! - Problem 7

After install EBC Greenstuff Brake Pads (Or Any aftermarket brake pads in general.), brakes now squeaking/more noisy than OEM, pretty annoying... especially when GF complaining the noise.

When I brought the rotor and pads from Sherlock, he kindly gave me some Bendix Brake Lubricant, say they'll do the trick on silencing the noise.

So going to my mechanic in next a few days to give them a try.

Any other ideas?

New Problem! - Problem 8

OK, this is the first Lexus I own, so please excuse my paranoid suspicions...

On the way home today, I noticed the car is making clicking noise constantly. It didn't seems to be this noisy when I first brought the car two weeks ago, but again I usually have loud music playing... boom boom pow!

So I poped the hood and found the noise is coming from the engine bay, click click clicking cking.... or (dadadadadadaaa......)

Here is a recorded mp3 file of the noise:

So I did some searches and found people who have experienced the same noise came up with three possibilities:

Direct Injection Fuel Pump Noise

http://au.lexusowner...?showtopic=8617

Direct Injection Injector Noise

http://au.lexusowner...showtopic=11028

Defective Cam Gears - Recall, Water Pump, Drive Belt or the Drive Belt Tensioner

http://au.lexusowner...showtopic=10157

Now before I get Chatswood Lexus to check it out, can anyone confirm if your IS250 has/hasn't got this problem?

Hi Kyo, i believe my car has the same problem too. I have searched the forum regarding to this issue, it seems like its the common problem (esp for 06-07 models).

When i bring the car for service (Lexus one), i will ask them to do the inspection in relation to this engine noise issue.

Problem 7 - Braking Noise with Aftermarket Brake Pads

Sorted!

Problem 8 - Engine Clicking Noise

Sorted! Dealer confirmed direct injection noise... my mind is now in peace.

Question 5 - Recommended Non-Dealer Service Workshop

Still open for suggestions, but I took the car to Chatswood Lexus this time and very happy with them.

So I guess I'll go back to them for future major services until the car depreciates to a certain low value.

Question 9 - Auto Folding Side Mirrors

Dealer confirmed Pre Aug 2007 IS250 DOES NOT have this feature!

So aftermarket solution only -> Ashpoint http://au.lexusowner...showtopic=10473

Hi kyo,

Firstly, congratulations on buying an IS 250 X. Sorry you didn't get some answers from us as soon as one would like - I think any number of people could have told you that the clicking noise was part and parcel of direct injection (as well answer as the mirror question), but I guess we weren't reading your posts over that 48-hour period.

For servicing in the said area (Question 5), I would also recommend Lexus of Chatswood. If you haven't had it yet, you'll probably find that even your local mechanic can't beat the value of their 75,000 km service (unless they're not aware of the effort!). The forums also contain good review(s) for Ultra Tune at North Ryde.

For your Greenstuff brakes (Problem 7), the brakes would have settled after 100-200 km anyway, according to this post:

Cheers Lance! Thanks for the great advices mate.

I guess I was just so happy to own a IS250 and can't wait to get my head around it.

All problems are sorted now, I'm enjoying the car very very much!

I'm sure there are a lot of useful infos on this forum, knowing the "Search" function is always great way to start for any newbies!

It's just that coming from a Honda & Nissan enthusiast club, I'm getting use to the fast pace of those forums.

Now I'm driving a Lexus, I really need to be more patience lol.
