  1. New rims, yay!!

  2. Well, I have finally got off my lazy ass and upgraded my rims. :) I guess it's a matter of personal choice, but I absolutely love dish. Gotta have it! I think these ones suit the car well. Rims are Koya Inox R1. 19", staggered 8.5" wide at the front, 9.5" wide at the rear. Wears 265 rubber in the rear, and 235 in the front. Next step would be to get the car lowered, looks a bit ridiculous the way it is now, but one step at a time haha. Will get around to that in the next couple of weeks. First gotta sort out a small issue, the front rims rub a litle bit when turning... Here are some pics, just after I had them installed. Nothing fancy, will do nice pics once she's lowered though hehe. Rear: Front: What do you think? :)
  3. Tell them you want $62,150 with the roof. $5k ain't enough. And sell privately don't trade. Well, it's not really just the sunroof, it comes as a package with cooled seats and other stuff. But i knwo what you mean. Will try to get it for a bit less still, see how I go.
  4. Yeah, just gave them a call, free on roads indeed. Here in WA, Prestige with EMV and sunroof 66,650 drive away. Without sunroof it's 62,150 drive away. So look slike a 5K saving. Hmmm... sounds alright I think.
  5. It's that time of the year again, and I've been seeing ads on TV. I've been toying with the idea of upgrading my 06 model to a brand new one. The ads are saying factory has slashed the prices. I'm just curious, how much of a discount can you expect to get from these sales normally?? I am planning to call them soon to find out. Knowing life, they probably won't give me the best possible price on the first go. I guess I just want to get a realistic expectation of how much they'd be able to reduce the prices by. I've never bought a brand new car before, let alone at one of those end of year sales. I'm curious to hear from anyone on here who has. Planning to get a prestige auto with the EMV and sunroof (website says $71,371 rrp drive away); or if I can stretch the budget, F sport with sunroof. Cheers! Dan
  6. From redbook Valuation Prices * Private Price Guide $49,900 - $54,500 * Trade In Price Guide $43,000 - $47,600 * Average Km 20,000 - 35,000 Price Guide $79,000* Price Guide That's what redbook says, but then I'm looking on carsales and can't find those prices, not in wa at least... Eastern states cars are cheaper for some reason.
  7. Hmmm, 52K for your 08 SL, I'd happily snap it up for that price. You can obviously get a better price if you sell it privately. I've never believed in trade ins anyway... Pity about timing, I'll probably be upgrading to a newer IS in about 6 months time, would be happy to take it off you then hehe.
  8. Oh yeah?? Do tell!! Many years ago I was playing with the idea of chucking the 4L V8 out of LS400 into an IS200. The engine itself was quite cheap, about a grand, plus other bits and bobs of course. Somehow I gave up on the idea when I realised I was better off chucking a turbo on the 2J in my IS300 (which didn't end up happening either haha).
  9. Just wondering, is the 3.5 litre V6 same as the V6 in the RX350?? Wonder if it drops in easy... probably too much effort. Might as well grab a Lexus V8...
  10. Perhaps it's possbile to change the sound of the beeper hehe, to make it sound different from the toyota beeper...
  11. You could always trace the source of the beep, find the beeper speaker thingy and just disconnect it.
  12. Well USB plug is now standard. I believe that our Nav systems will be moving away from DVD to hard drive system. Hopefully some of that memory will be usable. Also Bluetooth streaming should be not too far away. I'm suprised why we can't play music though bluetooth in the IS250 yet. A2DP protocol has been around in phones for many many years now, you can buy bluetooth headphones and stream music to them etc. You'd think they'd forget about messy cables and just upgrade their bluetooth in the EMV. Having said that, iPod/iPhone doesn't have A2DP (unless it has been put in recently). Still, many phones have had it for years. Ah well. Good thing about A2DP is that you can also skip tracks, play/pause, ffw/rew, and get track listings etc remotely on the screen etc. which is essentially what this integration kit does, except wirelessly. You'd think that would be a smarter way to go about it. Come on Lexus!
  13. Awesome!! Bit late, but better late than never I suppose. Looking forward to finding out more info about it, pricing etc. http://www.caradvice.com.au/57791/lexus-is-350-coming-to-australia/
  14. I'm more worried that he's gonna scratch the sh1t out of his car using those public washes. Go brushless or do it yourself. Same here. I cringed when I saw these pics. :o
  15. Nah, I don't do it all too often. I find lollypop ladies near the school tend to get very mad when I do that. j/k The above photo was taken while practicing on a private road. Ahem.
  16. Yep, the red ring on the speedo comes on at 200km+, and you cannot change it. Here's mine, pic taken from my daily commute to work: Sorry about crappy photo, bit hard holding the camera steady at this speed while changing lanes in slow traffic lol!
  17. Yeah, it is probably ECU related. Dealer told me Lexus technicians have driven these cars with IT equipment plugged in for two months trying to figure out what causes it. It's not detrimetnal to the engine so that's good, however it can be annoying!
  18. Might post up some videos of my car at the motorkhana, when I get a chance.
  19. There is a low battery warning, it supposed to come up on the centre blue screen in text with the red exclamation mark. That is weird! Go ask the dealer if they know anything about this.
  20. Ok, will check the sparkplugs myself then. It runs fine otherwise so yeah, kind of doubt that is it, but hey, might as well check.
  21. Hmmm, would have to go through the service history coz can't remember if plugs were changed. It's got 66K kays on the clock, due for a service in about 4K kays. I wouldn't want to sound like a know it all either, but often those techs overlook the basics. My uncle took his 5 series bmw once to get a problem fixed. Can't remember what it did exactly, but they even flew in people from germany to take a look and couldn't figure out, they were examining the ecu and so on. Then an apprentice simply changed the coilpacks and it was fine. So yeah, maybe it is something simple they are overlooking. I just want to gauge how common it is among you guys, as apparently most IS250's suffer this problem, according to the dealer. Only that it is so rare you only notice it after a while. Had the car for over a year and it only came to my serious attention a couple of months ago. Sometimes nothing happens for two weeks, I also do a lot of kays too (over 25K per year)... I might set my display to show gears and see where it's at when it happens. I don't think it's gears though, the car is stopped.
