  1. I have had every generation of RX (RX330 and 2 x RX350) and the only time I have ever seen a shiny dash is after someone has used Armor All, Vinylex or some other "shiny" interior spray on it in an attempt to "protect" the dash so I find this quite strange. That's odd!. Mine certainly does not shine.
  2. Parramatta......service direct 9204 6520 Sydney City....service direct 8303 1933 Chatswood......service direct 9406 8388 I think the price you've been quoted ($920) is very competitive.... Mine costs $700 for 30k service so $920 sounds fair to me. I've only driven 4000km in the last 5 months and have received a reminder letter to bring her back for another service. Ouch!.
  3. To overtake more cars? Lewis. To finish the race in front of the other? Jenson. Now moving forward, IDC/Project, who/what are your predictions for Monaco this weekend? By the way there is possible showers forecast for Monaco through out the week. That plus the fact that there is a huge difference between the quickest & slowest cars means drama for sure. My prediction: Carnage. This is Schuey's chance if he can qualify well. If not, he can always park it in the middle of the track!....
  4. Holly sheeeshhh!!!....This thing will give the Godzilla a good run for the money. Amazing how you can cramped all that gears into an IS engine bay. Very nice 'sleeper'.
  5. Never seen a dashmat for an RX. The dash isn't normally shiny. Try this: 1. Strip off whatever protectant has been used on the dash with Isopropyl Alcohol (try it on a small obscure portion first to make sure it doesn't damage the plastic); 2. Throw away anything with the name Armor All on it; 3. Purchase some Einszett Cockpit Premium or 303 Aerospace Protectant; 4. Spray on a microfibre cloth and wipe down the dash to a nice Matt finish I've been thinking about getting a dash mat for mine too but Lexus doesn't have it in their catalogue. I read on one forum that people only use 303 for exterior and Einszett Cockpit Premium on the interior coz apparently 303 smells baddd!. Can you get these stuff at major autoparts? I'm currently using Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer which doesn't leave a greasy finish like Armour All do. Doesn't seem to do much other than adding a low shine and deodorize the surface with a light citrus scene. I'm using Armor All on exterior plastics/rubbers. Any recommendation?
  6. Thanks dis-lex-sic. I've driven pass Lexus of Brighton. They're HUGE and I read they have the largest service loan cars available too so I should have no trouble getting one while mine is being serviced.
  7. Thought I would ask any Lexus owners in Melbourne which dealership you go to for servicing and how do you feel about the service overall? Mine had been to Melbourne City Lexus. Being my first Lexus experience, I didn't feel it was anything special. I didn't need a complimentary loan vehicle as I also work nearby. I asked if they could drop me off at my workplace and have my vehicle returned once the service is done. They asked one the staff to take my car to drop me off. I didn't mind that but being Lexus, I was expecting them to use their own vehicle to chauffeur customers in these circumstances. As for delivering my car once service is completed, they couldn't do that due to lack of staff. when I picked up the car, They said they gave it a wash but I doubted it coz I could clearly see some red dust along the bottom side skirts and around the bottom rear bumper from my weekend outing, plus they didn't vacuum the interior. I thought this was all part of the Lexus experience? I'm thinking of taking my next service (due soon) to another dealership eg. Lexus of Brighton. Does any local members out there have any thoughts/recommendation?
  8. I predict Hamilton to win this weekend. Shanghai has the longest back straight which suits McLaren. Just watch and see how they can just overtake every car on the straight (as how they did it in Malaysia). Cheers, F1 Fanatic.
  9. That is excellent mileage. I'm averaging 8.2L/100km in my RX400h. It'll be a few years before I can upgrade to the RX450H. Enjoy your new ride.
  10. Thanks dis-lex-sic. Good to know that pressing and holding the MODE button turns off AUDIO although there is a 2-3 sec delay before audio goes off. Quicker if I hit the POWER/VOLUME knob.
  11. Hi All, Just thought I would make an effort to introduce myself here. I've been lurking on/off in this forum since becoming a proud owner of a 2008 RX400H 3 months ago. Satin Silver, Ivory leather and black bird's eye maple wood trim. The car is a dream to drive, very smooth and quiet. This is my first LEXUS and I'm luving it.
  12. Does anyone know if one can MUTE audio in the RX350/400H with Mark Levinson system?
  13. Do you still hear the noise after driving for a few kms? If so, I would seek a second opinion from another dealer. I test-drove a GS450H and did not hear any brake noise nor do I get any as per your description on my RX400H.
  14. Whichever product you decide to use, remember to WASH -> CLAY BAR -> WAX. cheers...
  15. Make sure you insist your Lexus dealer to replace with a full metal pipe and not just the rubber section which is causing alot of unhappy Kluger/Aurion owners because rubber is not a suitable material to be used on a critical component such as this.
  16. Many thanks Poisson. You are a great help. With your instructions in mind, I decided to have another go tonight and I could use the REC button now. I've now added a few numbers and tested it and it works a treat. This will be really handy now that the new tougher road laws on mobile devices while driving.
  17. Thanks Mate. I got to the screen as you said and I can see the REC button but it's greyed out!.
  18. To my surprise, the user manual on my RX400H says 'at least 95 octane or higher'. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere before I bought my RX400h that the RX Hybrid with the 3.3L engine requires 91 unleaded whereas the RX350 requires a minimum of 95 octane. I don't plan on using anything other than 95, preferably Carltex Vortex.
  19. I recommend using Meguiar NXT Generation Tech Wax...excellent result on my 400H.
  20. are you able to give me step-by-step instructions on how to do this? I went to telephone menu, address book, add a number to the address book, and I notice there is an option that says 'voice recognition is switched off' and I can't work out how to activate this. Pressing the 'talk' button takes me away from the current screen and it says 'voicetag is empty'.
  21. Hi All, I'm curious to find out from any RX350/RX400h owners out there whether voice commands actually works for you? I have a 'talk' button on my steering wheel and I could not work out how to use it. My 08 RX400h owner's manual says this button is the 'talk' button and refers me to the SatNav manual. Unless I'm going blind, I cannot find the topic in the SatNav manual. Apparently, over in the States, they can use voice commands for temperature controls, Sat Nav, Radio, CD etc.. The trick is for the system to understand your commands. I just thin it would be cool to do that...just like the Ford Mondeo TV commercial... :P
  22. Hi Darren, is your car still available for sale?
  23. I'm considering the Murano becoz it is a very good value for money and this is noted in all the reviews on the web (AU & US included). It has all the luxury and safety features that can be found on the RX. Many reviewers and owners have praised the Murano for it's interior luxury and NVH, better GPS than Lexus, better reverse camera than the Lexus. HOWEVER, the front design looks like Darth Vader.. . You either luv it or hate it. I would think it consumes comparable fuel to the RX350 if not less given it uses the same capacity 3.5L and CVT. Between a new Murano and a new RX350 (I'm referring to the superseded model), I would pick the Murano for all the above reasons and pocket the savings, but for the price of a brand new rx350, I could get a used 1 year old rx400h coz I can see a few 1yo rx400h going for low 70K now. That is a massive depreciation for the rx400h with a RRP close to 100K). The Q I'm asking myself is 'which is currently the best value SUV on the market?" I luv Lexus and I've dreamed of owning one but this is a big investment and I need to think with my head and not go with my heart. I'm leaning towards the Murano coz it's a newer design and not having to search for the key for entry and start motor. A feature only available on the 2010 RX350.
  24. The new shape RX350 is known as 2010 model. Losiho purchased the last run of the "old shape" which should offer considerable savings to buyers. I'm currently tossing between buying a used 2008 rx400h or the new released nissan murano. I've always dreamed of owning a lexus and it is going to cost a lot more than getting a brand new murano. gonna have a few more sleepless nights ahead...
  25. Dear Oz RX400H Owners, I came across this forum while researching on the RX400H. I'm tossing between a brand new Nissan Murano (55K) or a used 08' RX400H (+70K). Both are very nice vehicles. The Nissan is considerably cheaper -$55K for the TI with full leather, electric rear hatch, keyless entry and push button start, sat nav, Bose 11speakers stereo, CVT transmission, auto wiper and headlights, electric door mirrors, xenon headlights and LED rear light, and comparable NVH to the lexus. The RX400h is prettier looking - front & rear and has a very luxurious interior - without keyless entry and push button start and what was Lexus thinking when they included a cassette tape player!. I've always dreamed of owning a lexus but I'm not so sure if the hybrid technology in the RX400H is as good (fuel economy) as Lexus claimed to be. I will only use the vehicle to run around the suburbs. Thanks in advance.
