  1. Lexus Nerd has pretty much stated all the differences. There shouldn't be any issues at all with the IS350s. Although, make sure that the particular vehicle you are purchasing has had the recall done, provided it is needed (2010 - early 2011s has a recall). Nothing major, just an inconvenience if you have to do it yourself.
  2. I was stuck in the same position as you! Coming from an IS350f, I wanted a MY11 ISF or a 3IS350 f sport. I nearly bought the 3IS due to the 'new factor' and interior but decided to wait a bit longer (trade in wasn't great) Another factor that made me lean to the 3IS more was the cheaper insurance (nearly half the annual premium of a my11 ISF). Circumstances have now changed and probably wont get a car until 2015. What is more important to you? Technology & the new factor of the 3IS or the power and rarity of the ISF? Have you considered the RC350/ RCF? Looking forward see what you decide on :)
  3. Yes. I agree with Melchels. Best bet is to go through your insurance and provide her details to your insurance company. If the quote that you have for $600 is the final quote, she would fork out the $600 anyway but you have the reassurance that your car was assessed by your insurance company. I have had a NRMA approved and recommended body shop repair my car and later down the track, find out that there was still damaged from the accident. It was only later known when Lexus of Chatswood took the panels apart from a later accident and found existing damaged from the first accident.
  4. If you continue buying the service kits from Sewell. Every kit comes with the air filter anyway, so you might as well change it. If anything, it would be marginally better for your engine.
  5. The service kit that Sewell sells is for the 60,000 mile (equiv. the 90k km) service, which is pretty much a major service including spark plugs. If you are after a 60,000 km kit, there isn't any but the 60,000 km service is the same service as the 30,000 mile service less the air filter. Best bet is to buy the parts from the 30,000 mile service and decide whether you want to keep the air filter or change it. You are correct in saying that you do not need to change the air filter. Mine wasn't changed at my 60,000 km service.
  6. Your best option is to call around and let them know that you have all the parts and they just need to supply the labour. You wouldn't need to change your air intake back to stock as they only inspect the intake for the 60,000km service. As a reference only, my invoice shows that the labour charged for my 60,000km service is approx $450.
  7. Hmmm... does anyone else realise that the remote touch system has been updated? there seems to be a track pad now instead of the joystick remote touch system found on the 3IS/4GS. Maybe this is an indication of the updated remote touch system Lexus will be using in the future?
  8. Welcome to the club Kleal. Congratulations on your purchase. Nice seeing more 3IS owners join the club. Did you get the moon roof option? Yes you can purchase 19" rims from the US. There are two different options you have from the F sport range. http://is.sewellparts.com/accessories-catalog/fsport/IS350-2014/2012.html or http://is.sewellparts.com/accessories-catalog/fsport/IS350-2014/1807.html however, these wheels were not specifically made for the 3IS models. Alternatively, you can choose the TRD wheels made specifically for the 3IS. http://www.nigel-jdmparts.com/wheels/trd-2014-lexus-is250-is350-19-inches-forged-wheels
  9. Just a quick update. You should have all been notified of the recall by now and should book it in as soon as you can. My car had the recall done last week so the parts and tools should be in dealerships by now.
  10. Congratulations on your purchase, you will love the car. The IS250/350s do come with the bluetooth streaming for the MY13 update. To see whether you have the bluetooth streaming or not, if your navigation unit has 3 buttons under where you load CD. It should come with the Bluetooth streaming. If your navigation unit has 4 buttons labelled (AM, FM, Disc, Aux), it is the older system that doesn't come with bluetooth streaming. The newer system (MY13) has 3 buttons instead of the older system which has 4 (MY11) Hope it helps.
  11. Hi Tam, Welcome to the club. When I was in the market for a IS250, I also saw numerous IS250s with Toyota Motor Corporation Sedans on the RTA website when I ran the checks. It may just have been how it was registered. The best bet is to make sure the VIN and engine numbers on the REVs and history check are matching the codes on the vehicle. You can also call up the dealer that it was serviced at to confirm the details of the vehicle and the service history. I know someone with a RX450h that shows up as a Toyota Motor Corporation RX100 series and not a Lexus RX450h.
  12. The current recall is for the variable-valve timing system bolts that may have loosened for the IS350. So even though, you have had the cam gears changed, you might also need this recall in relation to tightening the bolts. My previous 250 have also had the cam gear issue, but I was unaware that there was an issue in Australia about the cam gears for the IS350. There was an issue in the US for the IS350 manufactured between 2006-2007 for the cam gears. There shouldn't be any further issues with the IS350 cam gears as it was released in Australia as the MY11 model with 2010 build dates. Which dealer did you speak to in regards to the cam gear replacement?
  13. I haven't received any further updates yet. Since my car is at Lexus for body repairs, they have told me that as soon as they get the parts, I'll get a notice and it'll be fixed whilst the car is still in the work shop. I'll update this thread once I get more info. Samsung001, did you get the cam gear changed on your IS350 or IS250? apparently the US had issues with the cam gears on the IS350 from 2006-2009 but has been resolved before the release of the IS350 in Australia. Technically there shouldn't be a cam gear issue in Australia for the IS350.
  14. My IS350 is also affected. I called up Lexus of Chatswood earlier and was told that a letter will be sent out to the owners of the affected vehicles by the end of the month. They currently do not have the parts or the technical service bulletin to fix it. I have had the engine rattle twice before on start up that happened about 6 months ago. Since then, the car has never stalled on me and runs perfectly fine (Just like it did before the rattle) and I drive my car everyday - It shouldn't be an issue. Like ilv004s mentioned, it is more of a precautionary measure than anything.

    Rc F

Rather than an IS coupe, however, we can confirm Lexus will directly target BMW’s upcoming 4 Series coupe line-up with its all-new RC Coupe range, which will be crowned by the flagship RC F – powered by a 339kW 5.0-litre V8 to take on the forthcoming BMW M4. We cornered a Lexus insider just after these photos were taken and managed to extract the whole story. From the RC’s three powertrains to the flagship RC F’s beefy new V8 and eight-speed automatic transmission; from the RC F’s carbon-fibre body parts to its LFA supercar-inspired handling, we can now bring you the full scoop story of the ambitious new RC -- and this exclusive rendering from Japan’s Holiday Auto magazine. Slated for release by October 2014, the new RC (which stands for Racing Coupe!) and the RC F kingpin are by far the most exciting models to ever emerge from Lexus. Sure, the limited-edition V10-powered $700,000 super-coupe ranked sky high in the excitement stakes, but you needed your own hedge fund to afford one. The RC Coupe is based on the new IS sedan but draws on the essence of the LFA and adds a new engine line-up that is bound to cater to all tastes. But the best part is the RC line-up will land in Lexus showrooms late next year for around a tenth of the LFA’s stratospheric asking price, with a starting price somewhere between that of the new IS sedan ($55,900) and BMW’s upcoming 4 Series ($73,200), while the fire-breathing RC F will be priced not far away from the outgoing IS F sedan ($126,300). Draped in classy new exterior that borrows lines and surfaces from the LF-CC concept, the RC gets a brand-new body, a shorter wheelbase than that of the IS sedan and a new signature ‘spindle grille’ face to distinguish it from the latter. Meanwhile, like the M4, the top-dog RC F flagship will employ carbon-fibre body parts including its bonnet, roof and boot lid. Oh, and that bonnet scoop has nothing to do with induction. Our insider tells us that this intake sucks air in and then channels it to the underbody where it improves the car’s downforce. The RC F will also come with a speed-sensitive automatic rear spoiler adapted from the LFA, 15mm lower suspension settings (compared to the RC) and other aerodynamic tweaks learned from the LFA, which will allow the RC F to hit 300km/h. The RC F sits on a newly developed chassis with a unique reinforced suspension sub-frame. It also incorporates Sachs monotube shock absorbers, special control-arm rear suspension, uprated coil springs and anti-roll bars, a specially tuned Lexus Dynamic Handling package and unique 19-inch BBS wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 rubber. Co-developed with Brembo, the brake system will employ six-piston front callipers and a four-piston rear set-up, with slotted rotors all-round. Now comes the tastiest part of the story, the engines. In addition to the V8 powering the RC F, the RC line-up will offer the choice of three engines; a new turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain and a 3.5-litre V6 with Torsen limited-slip differential. The RC F’s 5.0-litre V8 generates 339kW at 6800rpm (up from 311kW in the IS F) and 544Nm of torque at 5200rpm -- up from 505Nm. Our insider also reveals that the RC F will clear strict new Euro 6 emissions regulations. The V8 coupe achieves that goal by incorporating Lexus’ (and Toyota’s) first-ever cylinder deactivation technology, in which one bank of four cylinders will be shut down during low-load cruising. Fitted with a race-tuned exhaust for a beefier note, the RC F will also incorporate steering wheel paddle shifters to operate the eight-speed, three-mode (normal, sport and snow) automatic transmission dubbed ‘Sports Direct Shift’, which is a development of the IS F’s gearbox. Inside, the RC F will employ bucket seats co-developed with Recaro, as well as loads of carbon and polished aluminium trim. Lexus parent company Toyota spent hundreds of millions of dollars establishing a specialised LFA factory at Motomachi in Toyota City, and hired 175 hand-picked engineers and designers to build the specialist supercar with its carbon-fibre and aluminium body. That compliment of staff might have been temporarily relocated since the last LFA was assembled on December 14, but they’ll be back again early next year to help get the RC F online. This car also benefits from knowhow gained from racing at the Nurburgring with the race-spec Lexus IS F CCS-R, which undercuts the production IS F’s curb weight by some 300kg. And we can look forward to seeing race versions of the RC F on racetracks from Suzuka to Nurburgring and Laguna Seca as new internationally standardised DTM-class race regulations come into play in Japan, Europe and the US by 2017. Expect the cracking RC F to introduce the all-new RC Coupe family when it makes its world debut at the Detroit motor show in January, with the three other RC variants to be revealed at the New York motor show next April. Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda has been talking about a Lexus sports car for the masses for a couple of years now. With a base price of around $65,000, you could say it’s finally here… nearly. What do you think?
  16. Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your purchase. What have you owned in between the two lexus?
  17. Recently, I had the chance to check out the new 3rd generation IS range and to test drive the IS350 F sport at the Lexus of Chatswood launch event. IS350 F sport Exterior: My first impressions on the new IS is that it really stands out. Like most have been saying, it really looks better in real life. For those of you who don't like the fact that the headlights and DRL are separated, you need to look at it when the DRLs are on and as a unit rather than individually, It would look much better then. Interior: The interior is nice and modern, much improved over the 2IS. The new 15 speaker Mark Levinson sound system is great, it sounds more crisp and has more bass than the older system found in the 2IS. Coming from the touch screen system, I found it hard to use the remote touch controller for the sat nav, however, it is more responsive than the previous IS. The sat nav screen could be bigger as it is not as big as I expected it to be. The F sport seats are MUCH more supportive than the previous generation F sport seats, It now supports your shoulder and head more, rather than just 'holding you' in position. The rear leg room has increased significantly, however, rear head room has not improved. The LFA dash is awesome, not only does it display your speedo but also your media as well as the sat nav information. The drive: It is much more refined, quiet and comfortable. The 8 speed sports direct shift transmission is smooth and shifts really fast. Steering is direct but lacks a lot of feedback. The suspension does a good job of holding the road but you don't feel much. The car feels slower to accelerate to 100km as you don't get the neck snapping acceleration that was found in the second generation IS350, but it is still very quick. IS300h Review During the third generation IS launch at Lexus of Chatswood, there was too much happening that I couldn't test drive the IS300h or the IS250. So here I am back at the dealership 3 weeks later for a test drive. Initially, I wanted to test drive the IS300h F sport but the dealership was low on stock! Either all cars were brand new or sold and awaiting the lucky owners to pick them up. The only demo IS300h f sport that they had, sold earlier in the day and was gone! Surprisingly, the Nova white IS300h f sport that was on display at the launch sold before the car was even released and without the owner even taking a IS300h for a test drive. Since the exterior and interior are similar, I will just share my experience on the drive. Due to the fact that all the demo IS300h have been sold, I was able to take out a brand new IS300h luxury with EP2 for a drive. I was unfortunate enough to take the IS300h out during Sydney's peak hour on Thursday night, however, the drive was very relaxing and comfortable due to the refinement of the 3IS. There were lots of low end torque to get the car moving off from stationary and during in gear acceleration. The ride was so smooth and quiet, even the sales consultant couldn't tell if the electric motor, petrol engine or both of them were powering the car. The IS300h, however, lacks the higher end torque and starts to really struggle to reach 100km from a stand still and when going uphill. Though the car lacks the top end torque, it is a relatively fun car to drive. The car handles well to driver inputs (on sports mode) and grips to the ground superbly. The suspension not only does a great job of keeping the car composed during high speed cornering, but also providing a smooth ride on a day to day commute. If you're a person who drives long distances every day or travel very short distances during peak hours and don't mind power. This is the car for you. It is smooth, efficient, luxurious and most importantly, safe.
  18. To answer your question, it depends on the series you're after For the second generation IS line up, The first series was released in November 2005. The second series (MY09) was released in October 2008. The third series (MY11) was released in October 2010. The final model update (MY13) was released in August 2012. You can expect those build dates as above but the compliance dates might be different. So a 2009 model IS250 may not be a 2009 build. For example, my previous MY09 IS250, the build date was in November 2008 but the car was complied and registered as a 2009 model. Just have a look at the build plate near the passenger door when you're going to inspect the car to see what the build date is.
  19. I've ordered a few items from Lexus, which had to come from Japan. It usually takes about 3-4 weeks to arrive at the service centres. However, my last order had been lost once it hit Australian shores so they had to re-order it from Japan again, it has been 6 weeks and counting...
  20. For the members who have instagram accounts, Lexus Australia now has an instagram account. Here is a link to their official account: http://instagram.com/lexusaustralia Follow Lexus Australia for the latest pictures of Lexus cars.
