  1. Just fitted the Borla catback exhaust onto my ISF. So far, I'm extremely happy with it. I didn't want a loud exhaust so that I could keep the "luxury" feel of the ISF but I wanted something a bit more aggressive. There's absolutely no drone with this system, at low revs it is quiet but you do hear the V8 rumble a bit more than stock. But at high revs, it sounds aggressive and really has that nice note to it. It turns heads when you give it a bit of gas! I get that "wait, is that a Lexus but it doesn't sound like a Lexus" confused look from people, and quite a few thumbs ups. I imported the exhaust from Vivid Racing in USA, took only 1 week to get here and for $1600 including shipping, it's quite a low risk option. I heard people who had fitment issues with the exhaust, but no issues with mine, it was easy to install and everything went in easily. It suits the dual character of the car well. I might post a sound clip up on YouTube this weekend. However, it may not be aggressive or loud enough for everyone. The JoeZ is probably a better choice if you want something louder.
  2. The pre-LSD ISF can actually drift quite well: Yes, that video is a German driver saying that the ISF is better than the C63! What next, flying pigs? :-)After bringing my car to the track, I have discovered how this car handles at the limit. If you enter a corner too hot, it will start to understeer. If you back off the gas or brake, the car will start transitioning to oversteer. If you put power down at that point in time and start to countersteer, it will drift. The car can actually drift very well. This is with stock tyres and stock suspension, obviously if you start putting fatter tyres I'm sure some of that initial understeer will be minimised. I actually really like how it handles, because understeer is easy to get out of, and the power oversteer makes it fun. Having the car in sport mode allows some angle of oversteer before it cuts power, having VDIM off completely makes it a real handful! I haven't driven a pre-LSD ISF so I don't know how different it will feel putting power out of the corner. My previous car was an Evo X, while that car is probably faster around corners, it felt too clinical. The ISF is just loads and loads of fun. It makes me smile every time I drive it.
  3. OK it's a bit last minute, but a few of us are meeting 7am at the Mt Cootha planetarium carpark. The plan is to stand around talking & taking photos for a bit, then have a quick squirt up and down Mt Cootha using the back road, and then go somewhere for a cheap and cheery breakfast. If you want to turn up, just meet at the carpark at 7am. My mobile number is 0423 332 545 if you get lost.
  4. Best to get it repaired outside, when I bought the car I heard the new BBS rims on the ISF are VERY pricey.
  5. Great, let me tally up the numbers..... That makes 2 of us!
  6. Hi everyone Wow, this place sure is quiet for us Brisbanites. I was wondering if anyone was keen for a meetup and maybe a short cruise before everyone disappears for Christmas? I'm pretty new to these forums and keen to meet other Lexus owners who are passionate about our cars. Would be a nice place to swap tips & look at each other's rides. I have a few routes in mind, just wondering if anyone has any interest. Regards Elgin
  7. Looks good mate! Did you do it with VDIM completely off? Yours looks a lot neater than mine, that's for sure! I found that doing it with VDIM in sport mode gave me the best result, some degree of slip but not enough to spin. With VDIM completely off, a bit too much throttle and the back swings round. When I did get it right, the procedure was - Turn into corner - Step on gas and immediately start counter steering - Car starts to oversteer - Feather accelerator and steering to keep the drift going It sounds easier than it looks!
  8. Geez, it was tough to control the car with VDIM completely off on a wet diesel surface! The car just spinning out. I had to be very sensitive on the throttle and time the counter-steering exactly right or else I'd just spin out.
  9. I'm going for a skid pan session this Sunday at Mt Cotton in Brisbane. Should be a lot of fun! First time taking the ISF out. I'll try to get some photos & videos up.
  10. For me, the biggest draw was the LSD. Every performance vehicle must have a LSD IMHO - the electronic braking system just doesn't cut it. The softer suspension is the icing on the cake. It depends on what you want to do with your ISF - if you're not planning to track it then it won't really make a huge difference.
  11. Hi everyone Just picked up my ISF from Lexus Brisbane on Saturday. I am seriously in love with the car, the luxury, the power, just awesome. Couldn't be happier!
  12. Just a quick question about the IS-F on the skid pan, I've driven a few cars around a skid pan (Mt Cotton in Brisbane), but the IS-F will be the first I'll be trying without a handbrake. How does the car handle? Does it have initial understeer which then quickly transitions to oversteer once more power is applied? How difficult is it to get the back out (and hold it there) given there's no handbrake to assist in the process? Glad to know the Lexus is as reliable around the skid pan as it is on the road, would be a pain having to tow the car home.
  13. Hi everyone Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Elgin, currently living in Brisbane and working as a software architect. In the midst of buying a Lexus ISF and looking at options, which year to buy, etc. Hope to learn more and mix with other Lexus fans!
