  1. I'm stealing this as my desktop wallpaper, if you don't mind :)
  2. Things I would check for 1) Check for coolant leaks in the engine bay, are there blotches of yellow/green fluid, possibly dried up 2) Water pump - check for these 3) Transmission - check to see if it is "slipping" in first gear. Should be obvious during the test drive, when starting from a stationary position, put the foot on the gas very gently. The car should smoothly accelerate, no jerking or flaring. 4) Brake pads - how much wear they have left 5) Brake rotors - warped brake rotors are an indication the car has been driven very hard, possibly lots of track work. When stopping from around 10km/h to a stop, do the brakes squeal excessively or do you hear a "metal on metal" grinding sound? 6) The obvious paint chips, colour mismatches, scratches and dents - try to inspect the car in the day light from different angles. I made the mistake many years ago of not inspecting this properly only to find that the car I bought had a lousy bumper respray that I only picked up after purchasing the vehicle. 7) Service intervals, obviously. Check how often oil has been changed.
  3. I have a wiring harness that I bought that for $40 that does the auto-folding mirrors when the car is started/stopped but I haven't had the time to install it yet.
  4. Glad they sorted you out mate! Remember that there's a lifetime warranty on insurance jobs so if there are issues you should bring it back to them.
  5. I'll be going for a dyno day at the end of July, by then I will have the intake/header/exhaust combo done and I'll post up the power figures.
  6. Ah sounds like the JoeZ PTS exhaust and the JoeZ intake with the port & polish. I believe Brisman had this done as well. I'm very sure you'll be satisfied with the outcome. Headers are booked in to be installed next Tuesday at Exotic Exhaust. It might take a couple of days if they encounter fitment issues. The headers came with good instructions and photos so hopefully that will help. Very excited but also apprehensive if they encounter any issues. Having said that, if Exotic can't do it, I doubt anyone else can.
  7. Are you getting the headers installed by Lexus? When I asked them about it, the service manager said he didn't think the headers would fit our right hand drive cars (although the PPE ones I got are explicitly for right hand drive cars).
  8. Hi Donald Unfortunately I've been quite busy at work lately so haven't really gotten it installed yet (it's still sitting in my garage). I'm going to give Lexus a call to see if they are willing to install it (seems a bit safer if anything goes wrong)
  9. 2016 eh. I was planning to switch over in 2015, looks like I might keep the car an extra year then. Bang for buck wise, there's nothing else that matches the IS F's performance, reliability, looks and build quality.
  10. Was a great day, a lot of nice cars turned up :-)
  11. Really? No one interested? /play crickets_chirp.mp3
  12. I have done a bit of research on this subject, and I've come to realise that the OEM brakes are probably the best for the occasional track dayer like myself. Yes, they squeal (unless you clean them religiously), they're dusty but they give great bite and are very resistant to fade. From experience, I have done many laps in the car following a E92 M3 and he had to slow down after a few laps as he was getting a lot of brake fade, whereas the F just keeps going. I was more concerned about my transmission overheating than the brakes. There are alternatives like Hawks which will give you less dust or squeal, but sacrifice the braking performance. If you don't track your car then the alternatives will probably be more attractive.
  13. Hi All I was wondering if anyone was going for the Downshift meet this Saturday at Eagle Farm. It would be cool if we all rocked up together in our Lexuses (Lexii?) Here's the plan. Meet Up Time: 2.30pm this Saturday, 22 June 2013 Meet Up Point: Lexus of Indooroopilly Car Park We leave Lexus of Indooroopilly at 3pm SHARP, then take a leisurely drive through the CBD and then to the meet location in Eagle Farm. Let me know how many of you are coming so we can wait for you if you are a little late. I'll PM you my mobile number if you are attending. Hope to see you all there!
  14. I'm getting Exotic Exhaust at Sumner Park to do the install. I've heard it can be tricky, but they've done some good work for me over the years. If they manage to get it installed without any scrubbing or CEL, you can all go get yours done with them. I'm happy to be the guinea pig!
  15. Looking good! I've got the PPE headers ordered from Sydney and should arrive next week, will let you all know how it goes!
  16. Congratulations, enjoy your new ride! The Brisbane guys should get together for a cruise soon.
  17. I can only speculate but the next one might be out in 2015, if you follow last-gen's cycle. I don't want the ISF to have anything but a V8, that bassy bellow is what gives the F its character. The new IS350 F-Sport looks quite capable and I think they have really worked on the handling. Give them a couple of years to drop in the 2UR-GSE or equivalent, put Brembos, tune the suspension and interior, and we have a new M3 killer! One point of interest, the IS350 F-Sport already has the 8 speed gearbox that is in the current ISF. http://www.autoblog.com/2013/03/25/2014-lexus-is350-f-sport-first-drive-review/
  18. Looks really good! In the last photo, I thought you had bonnet vents before realising it was part of the reflection!
  19. I'm sorry to hear that, mate! But most of all, I'm glad no one was injured. Property can be replaced but lives can't be. There are some shocking drivers on the roads nowadays, sometimes I feel safer driving fast on a track than driving normally on public roads!
  20. Next available date is Saturday, 1 June. Spots will only be held once payment clears. Donald, if you are ok with that date, PM me your email address and I will forward the entry forms to you. You will also need a CTP rally extension form (free if you are with Suncorp, others usually charge $10).
  21. Hello fellow Lexus owners! I attended an event held by Roadcraft, a company that specializes in driver training up in Gympie, QLD. It was a bit of a drive and an early start (had to be there by 7.45am, a 2hr drive from Brisbane!). However, it was worth it. I had a ball of a time, and I learnt a lot about how to control my ISF properly. One of the instructors took my car and showed me what was possible: We did a lot of controlled slides, as well as some agility training. I've got newfound respect for my car and realised that to get the full potential from my car, I need to learn how to drive it properly. I've got a lot of practicing to do, so I was wondering if anyone here was interested in attending an ALOC driver training day up at their skid pan. The cost was $130 for the day which ran from 8am - 3.30pm, lunch and drinks included. Whether you have a IS250, IS350, ISF, GS, etc. I'm sure you will find the sessions both fun and educational. Please let me know by replying in this thread if you are interested. Once I get a number of interested people, I'll let them know and see what dates they have available for us. It will most likely be in late June or July. Disclaimer: I am not in any way affiliated to Roadcraft nor am I receiving any commission or benefit from them.
  22. I was due for a tyre change last Saturday, but my tyre guy mixed up the sizes and I'm stuck with driving worn tyres for the next 2 weeks until I get time to see him again. I'm getting 245/35/19s in the front and 275/30/19s in the rear. How bad is it? 0-100km/h in 5.8s in damp conditions, just can't get the power down to the road without traction control cutting all the fun. That's 1.3s slower than the last time I tried it when the tyres were still good.
