  1. I don't know how I'd define "best", I just categorise cars in so many different ways... Some are better than others at some things but not others. And I really haven't been in anything more exotic than a Ferrari 360! Hard to beat that one.
  2. Defintely interested to hear how you go, especially compared to the late model ride/handling compromise. I'd actually like softer suspension in mine in the medium-term (it really is ok as is).
  3. Good to hear someone coming back for another bite :)
  4. I did this one about ten years ago: http://www.batesadvanceddriving.com/defensivedriving.html Definitely worthwhile and something I reckon should be a part of getting a licence. I then did this one on the weekend, I absolutely loved it and learned heaps about my IS F: http://www.batesadvanceddriving.com/skidpan.html Video of me at the day here:

I did it with all systems completely off, I actually wish Sport gave more room than it does as I find it cuts in quite early (might be better in later cars). I spun out a lot that day! But that's what it was for, to learn. By the end of the day I could easily drive the whole track completely sideways, easiest done with little flicks on the longer straights to keep inertia up. When I first started I was too heavy when feathering throttle and span out a bit and also my straightening up was a bit uglier.
  6. You know that the McLaren MP4-12 doesn't have a mechanical LSD? Although I agree with you. I have a 2008 having bought mainly with focus and condition and colour combination I really pine for a LSD. I suppose with the money saved a OS Giken can be bought and fitted.

I went this Sunday too but in Canberra! It was great fun, definitely recommended. Thankfully the surface was slippery enough and the car has enough power for my pre-LSD model to act like it had one for most of the day. I'll get some pics and a vid up eventually. As to be expected with Lexus the car didn't miss a beat all day :) Looking forward to your pics and vid.
  8. Some LFA porn, a long video covering a lot of detail on the car which is great for people like me who have never seen one in person. (I hope I have posted this in the right area - sorry if I haven't.)
  9. With such a refined and generally quiet drivetrain I agree with you... but it simply doesn't excuse the way some parts are clipped on in the cabin, the rattling doors, sunroof, squeaking seats. They aren't because the car is quiet but because of the way the car and its parts are held together. Mates with Toyotas have similar issues so I feel like it might be family inherited.
  10. Good luck with your search, a good one should serve you nicely if it's been looked after.
  11. Nice IS250, looks nice and neat. Love the Chaser too.
  12. Definitely bring it up with the dealer. It appears to be luck of the draw and dependent on owner tolerance with rattles and creaks. I have low tolerance and a pretty loose cabin after 45k kms. Good luck with it and I hope it stays quiet after this is done for you.
  13. I don't know how it can be "played around with"? Not even sure what that means. I bought it with 45k kms on it, I'm the second owner and the car has always been looked after with full Lexus service history. I just regret test driving it on smooth roads. I don't really think it's an isolated incident or that this car is a "lemon" given all the information on interior rattles all over the internet. Danny, you have posted a number of times in the thread with rattles that were fixed by Lexus Chatswood... You only specifically mentioned the sunroof but have said "rattles" (plural) were fixed. So I presume you recommend them. Which ones did you have done?
  14. Ben, I really feel your pain! Although I didn't buy brand new, I expected better. I had a 2009 Falcon XR6 Turbo before this car - far, far, far, better with interior rattles and squeaks (it only had one on old roads with far more kms on it!). Years ago, a 2002 Monaro which was again, far better. It was an older design, big heavy doors, quiet cabin... Not annoying. My wife has had a 120i and now a 130i... Again, far better. I've had 35-40 cars (I've lost count) and none have been as annoying interior-wise than this car. NONE. I can accept some rattles on some roads but not constant vibrations which drive me insane. Today I've been driving around with the stereo on 40 but I can still hear them. WTF is the point of this I wonder some days, stereo has to go up and maybe put an exhaust on the car to drown out the rattles? Lexus Canberra workmanship is very poor which is why I was hoping Chatswood might bet better? This will likely be my first and last Toyota and if I can't get someone to sort it out it will no doubt make me trade the car... I don't want to make the people who said I should have bought an M3 right (esp since I'm from a BMW famiy!).
  15. Is Lexus Chatswood the way to go to fix these? Mine are so irritating some days I think it will make me sell the car. Right now I have rattling: - Centre console; - Centre air con vents; - Passenger air con vent; - Driver's door; - Passenger's door; and - Driver's seat creak*. * I fixed the plastic cap creaking myself after all Lexus ACT did was put some grease on the rails despite their being a service release on it (which I got off the net to use to fix it). Now have a new one from the back of the seat. The local service has been bad too, I had to change my air filter myself after they said it was brand new when it looked as old as the car - they never checked. I've never had a modern car with this many rattles, I actually chose an IS F over a M3 or C63 for reliability and refinement. I've only been disappointed so far in regard to refinement. I'd be more than happy to take my car to Chatswood if they can help. These things drive me nuts! My old R32 GTR was better. Any help/comments would be appreciated.
  16. Hi all, I've been reading the forums a while and have had my IS F for a few months. Mostly enjoying the car apart from some niggling issues. A few pics of it with my Dodge Challenger.
  17. Nice to see an ex-rotary (and FD) owner around on here. I've had my IS F (same colour but older) for a few months now.
