just going to order air intake for  08 IS250 any advice before I buy one, ( best one, easiest to fit, best power, is it worth it so on )

1, Best one? (personal pref)

ie F sport intake looks stock and not as loud as a CAI (F sport intake is not the same intake from a F sport)

injen/K&N etc is nice loud but exposed

prices vary from 300-600 K&n~to F sport

2.Easy to fit? ( most of thm are)

3.Best power? (on a 250 it will make no difference)

4.Worth it? (if your after sound yes if anything more than that no)

Thanks ilv I had a good look at the air on mine and you are rite I believe it wont make any difference so I ordered a K&N and I have mounted a cold air hose from behind the front grill direct into the air box I will see if that makes any difference, hopefully will help a little.

The stock intake is smallish I just incresed the the amount of air into the airbox with the hose.

Last Question dose anyone know if there has been any problems with K&N air filter oil affecting any sensors on Lexus.

Ok just a happy word the K&N filter made a marked difference really noticeable.

I had a Takeda intake on my is350 and it was very loud from about 3500rpm. Sounded like a V8.

Highly recommend it you want sound. No experience with other brands.

Didn't feel any power gains to be honest.

Cool thanks for that. Yes only after sound, i dont expect to get miraculous gains from an intake only. Plus the is350's 233kw is more than enough for a daily driver

Can i ask where you purchased your intake from?

I was lucky enough to purchase mine brand new from a member in Adelaide. His new Lexus arrived in a wrong colour so he just ended up buying a Mercedes instead, and he had already purchased lots of mods for a Lexus haha.

You can purchase the intake on Ebay from USA. They are about $700ish but it is well worth it. Completely transforms the car.

The weak AU$ has made purchasing anything from the states not worthwhile, a $400 intake has a $1200 shipping fee.

I will keep looking locally, not many options, and the few that i can see, are from brands ive never heard off

Ilv1004s, what is this piping you refer to? Sorry for my ignorance.

Pipe between the airbox and inlet manifold. Change the flex/plastic pipe for something solid and straight.

Cheers, will investigate

Wouldnt this pipe need to also cater for the maf sensor & Is the end result of doing this more induction sound?

MAF sensor is built into the airbox lid so doesn't get touched.

Smoother pipe should give a less interrupted airflow. Not sure about added noise.

I think that usually comes from a bigger hole in the airbox (like the F-Sport one).

With the way the aussie dollar is at the moment, i wont be buying this intake anytime soon 😞

buy a toms drop in filter and be done with it
less blind but more effective

and resuable and non oiled so it dosnt foul the maf sensor
