  1. That's the rattle I had, I ended up fixing it by cutting up an old belt and squeezing it between the dash and the windshield there and it's gone. If you hold down the dash as you drive do you find the rattling stops?
  2. Oh whoops, you were right. I just realised that the black panel where the clock is, is the place to change the map disc. Is it hard to remove?
  3. http://www.carsguide.com.au/news-and-reviews/car-news/toyota_expected_to_close_in_2018_81362_20140114 Lol at the comment at the bottom of the article.
  4. No but USB may be possible with an aftermarket route but your CD player wouldn't work anymore as it uses that plug
  5. Reprogramming a new key with Techstream is easy - erasing an old used key is not. The cars computer has to be reset "reseeded" is the term used by the OBD II Techstream, in order to do this you need an authorisation code direct from Toyota so the only people that can do this is your local Lexus dealer (but even then they may refuse to re-pogram a used key, tbh they probably don't even know how).
  6. Yeah thats correct, the kit even came with brake fluid but they said they didn't need to replace it for this service. Will be having a look at the job sheet and see what has and hasn't been done, definitely not paying full price Wait so if you did the service yourself and they didn't do the brake fluid change - what did they charge you the $520 for? How much does a full priced service cost for the 60k?
  7. So you bought the parts from sewell and replaced most of everything required on the 60k and they still charged you $520 on top? That sounds expensive if it was just for the brake fluid change that was left and the small things fixed that you mentioned. Even more so with the $145 labour for changing the pads on top.
  8. Thanks Lexus Nerd! Decided to avoid them for now - seemed a bit complicated and expensive after new tyres needed to be put on as well.
  9. I've read that 225/35/19 fronts and 255/35/19 rears were recommended by people on Clublexus - do you think that match-up would be legal?
  10. Hi guys, Can anyone tell me what tyre size to use if I were to upgrade my stock IS250 wheels (235/35/17 front and 245/35/17 backs) to ISF wheels? I'm really noob at this and want it to be legal without rubbing. The car is stock btw! Thanks and Merry Christmas to all :)
  11. I took my Lexus to a MB/German specialist today to get serviced as they were $200 cheaper than Lexus even after I supplied my own genuine parts (just a simple oil/brake fluid change). I asked the manager afterwards how reliable BMW/MB are and he told me they were a whole different type of fish from Lexus. It'll keep him in business as they visit the shop very often but in all honesty he recommended that I stay with Lexus. He also commented that after you step into a MB/BMW/Audi after driving the Lexus you notice that the germans aren't as smooth or refined and to test drive them myself to see the difference. I was actually quite surprised with his answer and it just reconfirmed the reasons why I bought the 2IS in the first place. He mentioned the 3 series from E90 onwards turned to crap so luckily I didn't buy the E92 lol.
  12. Brilliant! Maybe I should, it's only around $25 anyway. If you don't mind me asking - how much did you pay for the full 60k service from Lexus?
  13. Oh yep, that's what I meant sorry. Do you think I should still change the filter? I think it's only like $15 anyway from Sewell..
  14. My dealer said they would give me a $80 discount if I supplied my own parts....lol, I wonder if they'd let me buy it off them at that price. I notice the Sewell kit contains the engine air filter - is that replaced on the 60,000? I called a few independents and they said their computers say it is but I checked my logbook and it's just inspected?
  15. How much did the kit + shipping cost if you don't mind me asking? I have my 60k km coming up too.
  16. Sounds like an Audi to me. The oil consumption on those are horrible and the cost cutting with FWD/CVT transmission on the base models... no other manufacturer makes a compact executive in FWD.
  17. Just curious guys - especially for you new car buyers but how come you picked Lexus over BMW/Mercedes/Audi. For me, I buy second hand and reliability has top priority but if you buy new there would still be warranties on all the cars so it's a different story. Admittedly every time a E92 325i BMW drives past I ask myself if I made the right choice with the IS250. I do like the equipment levels and quality of materials used but still to some people Lexus = Toyota ;)
  18. Thanks guys - I don't think it would look that now... Yep, I did notice the front number plate bracket too. Maybe I'll try it out for a bit and change it back if I don't feel it.
  19. Hi guys, I'm just wondering what you thought of full sized European styled plates on the 2IS - would it look silly? I've seen a few around but I can't make up my mind. I've got a set on an Accord Euro which I think looks good due to the wide boot and large license plate area but I'm still undeceive with the IS as there's only a small license plate area. Should I just get standard/slimline personalised plates?
  20. Your headlights are so clean and shiny! Most of the IS's I see have a yucky yellow shade and some of them are really really bad.
  21. Custom fit, you need the 3GS front and fuse it with your original bumper - cutting pieces up and plastic weld them together. Not a simple job. IMO, 3GS front looks disproportional, someone has a 3IS conversion which looks better.
