Thinking of buying Lexus RCF any help or advice ?
Spec replied to Dazandbel's topic in Lexus RC Club
yeah, try an ISF first, especially if you're not looking for new. They are both excellent cars, here's my comparison notes from a drive a did a while back: ISF is more comfortable and lighter - pushing this thing in corners is much more relaxing than the RCF. When I read the numbers before the car was launched, I was a bit surprised that being a coupe it still weighs more than the ISF, driving it corners, you can feel every bit of that extra pork. RCF exterior is better - of course, that is very subjective and depends on what you like. To me the RCF look is more premium. The interior (for me at least) has gone a step backward in the whole 3IS/RC line - the whole protruding interior dash just gives an overall 'boxed in' feeling. On the 3IS I think I felt more plastics than the 2IS. Also, RCF owners can vouch for this - the new 'Eco' mode on the RC sucks - there is no feeling that it's a v8 under there, even if you push the right pedal - though this is easily remedied by switching to Sport or Sport+. For the day I had this car, I drove it in Eco for < 5 mins. I think the default mode on this car should be Sport. Road noise is slightly higher in the RCF - I suspect this is just due to the door frame (or lack there of) - this being a coupe. -
Some details please...

It's that time in the service history... to replace the rotors... 52,000 kms and first replacement - apparently I don't use the brakes in corners that much :) BTW, why are the dealers so noncompetitive in Brake pricing and even tyres for that matter. Dealer quoted front brakes (rotors+pads) for $2796. What's the deal here - they not interested in providing replacements for these parts so just put a ridiculous charge on it? Thinking of going to brakenetics + stoptech pads - as ISFBloke... Anyone interested in a group buy - Melbourne?

Any ideas where I can get an ISF Front bumper at a reasonable price ?

I've never been to Chatswood Lexus, but if I believe everything I've read on this forum about them, I don't believe there is a service centre here as good as them. Brighton is good, especially the sales side and I've heard Blackburn is better at service which is where I plan to go next time.

Joy Of Space Saver Or Where To Put The Big 19" In Case Of Puncture
Spec replied to Monyx's topic in Lexus IS-F Club
Wow, never thought of that issue ! Usually I never travel with 4 passengers and a full boot, but now I will have to make sure that I don't :) -
My renewal was also the similar, I did a new quote on the site and it came down to 1200, then I called them up, asked them explain themselves :) Got a new quote now from them just under 1100. I would say, at a minimum try the Online quote and also increase the excess to 1000 or 1500 - There's no way you'll end up having less damage than than in an accident anyway - these cars can get expensive to fix :)

Unbelievable... Sorry to hear that. Did they give you a cheque during the transaction or a Bank draft ?

Same here, 98 from BP... I was using Shell 98 but it smells a lot when engine is revved.

Most of my long runs I generally get in the low 9's. If i've gone for a day trip - mix of highway, city and spirited driving on the hills, it's usually 10.5 to 11. I usually don't drive in the city or for work, but on the odd occasion that i've been short distances (<30k) the trip computer usually reads in the high 11's or low 12's. A lot comes to driving style as well. While I don't drive like a maniac, I do like to accelerate off the line and out of corners - just to hear that exhaust !

So, on the front's if you're increasing to 17 inch, then you should look for 225/45/R17 - which will result in a -0.38% error. or for 18 - 245/35/R18 (+0.51% error) or for 19 - 255/30/R19 (-0.59% error) Probably worth searching these forums as well for Tyre size recommendations as some of these sizes may require rolled fenders or it will scrub, maybe illegal as well.
-
The 30's are not actually lower profile than 35. Remember that the Profile number (middle one) is actually a percentage, not an actual width. For a 225/35/19 - The tire's width is 225mm, the profile (cushon or tyre height Edit: or sidewall)) is 35% of 225 which is 78.75mm. For a 275/30/19 - the profile works out to 82.5mm, it will be higher than the fronts.

I usually go to Brighton

GPS isn't terribly accurate. There's actually a deliberate error introduced on GPS signals to prevent it being used for military purposes. I believe it's between 4-8 meters. Indicated speed will not be accurate down to few kph. The speedo is usually driven by the front wheels. Over a 1000k, shows up as a difference of <5km.

It appears that QLD allows a max of 15mm dia difference from original spec. For your front it's 2.9 which is ok, but rears come out to be -23.6 - I'm not sure this is legal... Are you sure the spec is 245/35 for rear and not 255/35 or 245/40 ? Oh wait, it's 255/35/18 for the new rears. Keep getting the sizes mixed up - would it be within the limits now? 255/35 is 16.6mm, according to ICU2 , he found 26 mm is acceptable for a decrease. I guess you're good to go.1 Thing to remember is that your speedo value will be off by approx 3Kph - Higher... So at 100 you'll actually be travelling at 102.54Kph.
