Is that an evening event at SMSP? Is spectator allowed?

IS-F meetup anyone lol? Need to checkout this beast in person.

Yes and Yes.

Make sure you buy your tickets online Here. Its cheaper online then at the gates.

You can walk through the pits freely too, sometimes its alittle dangerous as not all participants follow the speed limit so watch out. You can even watch from the barrier, so you're right up close although from the Grand Stand is better.

Do club members do that? Buy the tune then pay to get their own custom ones sent and done? Does RR charge for a new file? I'm in need of the tune but not the $$.

So what other mods do you have? Tune works best with an exhaust and headers as a minimum. I probably wouldn’t bother otherwise.

Of course RR Racing charges for the new file - they aren’t in the business of giving their hard work away for free!!!  Like the old saying goes “you have to pay, to play!”

Each file is custom to the level of mods you have. So if you were to change your set up at a later date you’d have to update the file.

As Koop21said, yep it’s friday night from 6pm. But your Spectator tickets online for cheapest price. I don’t have a garage this time around (garages are $120) but if anyone is keen to join next time we can split it (up to 3 cars) and well worth it!!!

anyone that’s keen to meet at the event, let me know below and I’ll send you contact details.

Just read the Roll Racing info page, so it's basically a rolling drag race from 50km/h. I guess the marshals have to ensure the two cars sets off into the racing zone at the same time to get a fair comparison.

It'll be interesting to see if our ISF can take on the big boys, especially with your new RR racing performance package.

Definitely interested on join in the next roll racing with you, my car has the header, exhaust (HKS SSM arriving soon) and Autowerks tuning, stock intake. I want to see how much of a difference the RR Racing intake/tuning will make on the track.

PM me your contact detail mate.

It's hard to gauge against others in a tight race as there's nothing to keep drivers in check during the rolling portion (start).

Although most drivers seem to get their act straight and have a honest race during the Eliminator portion (last man standing).

Definitely worth going as it's probably the closest feeling in what it would be like in Fast n furious / Need for speed.

So you rollout in a designated area, get up to speed, keep in line with your opponent, and as you roll wait for the green light, then hammer it Home!!!

there are some big cars there! Last time I beat an R33, an SRT Jeep and a Silvia, but got smashed by a few Holden’s and an Evo. Forced induction is the way to go. As NA our cars are a lot of fun, but nothing compared to big boys.

So last night was a blast!

Had some decent runs. Faced off against some big cars.

to be brutally honest, my car even with all the mods on it was still in the bottom 30% of cars there. Its all about forced induction. Guys buy a $15k Supra, spend $20k on mods and have a weapon!!! I did race some farken quick Golf Rs - 300KW at all 4 wheels with 30% less weight - only beat me by a car length.

Beat a couple of cars including a Supra - had a grudge match with a 2017 Audi TT RS - 300kw at the fly - weighs much less than us, but with a 0-100 in less than 3.7 secs!!! (compared to our 4.9 secs stock) - i won one, he won the other.

I will be putting on the semi slicks and lighter OEM wheels next time.

If i can get 2 additional cars to come with me next month, i will book a garage which we can all share costs. Will need to be in the next few days as tickets sell out quick https://rollracing.com.au/ approx cost is $65 for you plus supporter vehicle.  + $20 for daily racers license or $65 for the entire year. These things are always good as a group, is very social and a cheap night out with plenty of action!!

Will be getting the final POST dyno pull w/c 4th December. Ill share footage and figures with you all

Sounds like it was an eventful evening.  I know what you mean about boosted cars, small ticking timebomb engines, highly stressed but yes they can be very quick with big boost.

I had a pretty quick WRX, forged internals, high boost, water spray, exhaust, computer, bigger injectors, bigger turbo etc.  There is more scope with forced induction to really push big numbers but with N/A like our cars the mods are limited.  Still love the ride of the ISF though over my WRX.  Our cars sound great and i have more faith in pushing it harder knowing something wont bang or snap under the bonnet.  I never had that confidence with my WRX especially after owning it for so long.

Some of those 4cyl are very quick like Evo's you mentioned.  Even CLA45's stock are low 4's, quite quick.

Nice grudge match with that Audi.  Even though our cars are quoted anywhere from 4.7-4.9, im sure with your mods you would be a low 4 as well so quite close to the Audi's quoted figures.

Any Tesla's there to spice things up.  I can only imagine when those Roadsters reach our streets. 8sec quarters and under 2 seconds for the 0-100 or some kind of insane figures like that.

Yeah they always are a lot of fun. Last few times I went I had a garage with mates- this makes things even better. Pull in, talk *BLEEP*, go back out for a few runs.

yeah I’d never boost our cars, too much can potentially go wrong. I’d take our cars over a faster boosted 4 any day.

Yeah I reckon I’d be in the low 4s for 0-100 for sure.

Thise tesla figures are INsANE! Going to change the game. And it will be under $250k over in the states!

It great you had a fun time.  All these small AWD pocket rockets with launch control are very fast off the mark, but by 50 kph there advantage is gone, as RWD vehicle will have traction by then.   Starting the race at 50kph, the pocket rockets advantage off the mark is over, & KWs always rule.

P.S.  Looking forward to your next dyno run.

think of it of recording the diagnostics of a dyno run, and then sending the data to RR for them to cross check

Ok and then do they further customise the tune???

Great time out there though.

Latest runs had some BIG cars. After this weekend that went past we are getting a crew for next year to get a garage and attend a few events

Troubles? Why not take it to a reputable tuner here, check the afr’s and overall map rather than playing tune ping pong across the world?

No one mentioned anything about troubles?!!

If anything the guys at RRRacing are super helpful even getting back to me across their holiday weekend (2 hour response time)

why wouldnt i go local

1. their tune is tried and proven especially with their product like the enlargened MAF. Let’s face it when it comes to Lexus ISF specifics, they are the ones that have put the most research and development into the platform

2. Cost of their tune - AUD$950 approx. cost of local tune options $1800.

Posted

Cost of a local tune was $2100 with dyno time. IF I could do it again RR Racing is a no brainer (I should have done more research ) anyway live and learn, would love the 7200 redline.

too many experts that way - leave to the people who cracked the ecu & specialise in that field

I’ve had the same tuner for close to 10years now, 3 vehicles later and never had any issues. His knowledge and experience is mind blowing, in saying that mine was the first isf for him to have a crack at. He was successful in a little over a week using a few different programs combined as he created majority of his own. 4-5 days on and off the dyno and hours of road testing as well as a few track mornings out a Queensland raceway and I haven’t looked back. My tune was about 1500 but he admitted he couldn’t charge for the actual time spent on the vehicle. Comes down to who u know I suppose. If you get a chance to study how these cars are you’ll learn on the dyno that power starts dropping off well under 7000 and the 7200 redline was made for guys that wanted that little bit more before gear change due to hitting limiter before the 1/4 finished.

I was just curious as to why yous felt the need to check your tunes that’s all.

So Before I bought the tune I raised the the issue of climate difference (between US&Aus) with RR and they mentioned that I buy a techstream cable in order to record a few runs, so I can send across the pond to them

So they can monitor how the ECU has adapted to the new map and make any necessary changes if need be

maybe just me being ocd but all precautionary, plus I love that the dudes at RR are so pro Lexus F’s

You guys have been asking for it - so here it is!!

Original Dyno Pull of 339hp atw with Xforce Cat Back, HPS intake and AFe Drop in filter (447 nm torque)

RR Racing Performance Package Inc: PPE Headers, Tuned Intake with larger MAF and custom tune = 403hp atw (527nm) - see video below

Sound doesnt do it justice - this thing blew my ears off!

There are so many caveats to this an the reading- different conditions and input/ramp rates can read out false figures. so dont get hung up on numbers, as long as you dyno back to back, using same parameters its the increase/difference that matters.

Happy to say, Im part of the 400hp atw club now 1f642.png:)

Special shout out to RR-Racing Motorsports Engineering
They are THE authority when it comes to this platform. Their service and knowledge was second to none. They asnwered calls on public holidays and late at night all so that my experience was the best i could have.
Results speak for themselves guys !!!

How to fudge figures - how to get the most accurate reading

I initially had a low reading this morning - the car was hot, we had changed the position of the dyno fan to try and pump air into the airbox (per verbal instructions from the team at RR - we might have been doing it incorrectly) - we should have just left as we had it in the original run.

After letting it cool down, running the exhuast fan for a while and positioning the fan in the original placement we were able to pick up additional horsepower. This was mainly due to the A/F ratios being in a much happier place due to the coolant and intake temp.

Running the car in 4th gear will get you another 10-15hp.

Also changing the ramp rate for the rollers can get you another 10-15hp if so desired - this can be seen with the 412hp reading on the monitor. The higher the ramp rate the faster the car will come to speed and the higher the output/reading

NB: both my initial run and recorded run was done in 6th gear - closest to 1:1 ratio. Anything less - youre just cheating yourself
