Capey, 98km/hr and clock showing 110km/hr is quite a difference man. I too like the fact that there is room so you don't cat caught speeding. The bad thing is you'll be piling up more Kms than you actually are as someone mentioned. I'm wondering if by putting on 19s, the speedo might be a little closer to the real mark.

Seat Rattles
ldc replied to ldc's topic in Lexus IS250 / Lexus IS250C / Lexus IS350 / Lexus IS350C Club / Lexus IS-F / IS300h
Which dealer did u bring your car back to get fixed? Maybe i can go to your one as i don't think i can trust mine (@ Paramatta). -
My drivers seat is rattling like mad, especially when i go around bends. Has anyone got this problem, particularly interested in the 07 models owners as i heard they've addressed the issue (mine is Dec 06) and have you taken it back to the dealers? I am reallt reluctant to take it back to the dealer due to bad experience with them.

I have confirmed with my Dealers (twice) that putting on 19s will at best void only the wheels suspension part of the car. If the Insurance Company approves, you shouldn't have any issues unless your wheels causes major damage to the car. I'm thinking of getting 19s too, what sorta wheels do u have?

The Aurion has a much better bodykit, more powerful engine and is bigger in size which alot of people with family will want. For the top spec, it's more value for money (dollar for dollar) in my oppinion if you compare the cars themselves (not the brand). If you have a family, then the Aurion is the car to get, otherwise if you're a single couple or just single, then the Lexus is the way to go. The Aurion is basically a top end big brother of the Camry, it drives and sounds alot like the Camry but has more features which alot of other family cars would die to have for the cost. The Is250 however is more refined and besides being more luxurious, it drives and handles like a luxury sports car that it is. At the end of the day both cars are excellent choices, just that you need to decide what is more suited to your needs. Something to thin about, if you really want a Lexus and think the Is250 is abit small, then look for the 2004-ish GS. They go for around $40-50K which is more than half the rrp. Try looking for low Ks one and TRUST ME you will not notice that it is a second hand car. I do part time valet work and drive heaps of luxury cars and i can guarantee you that even a 2000 ES Lexus feels more luxurious than the Aurion. Lexus is what it is, and there is no denying it.

Is this the limited edition is250 that was just introduced? i read that it was only retailed around the prestige model but had the alot of the sports goods.

I don't think it suppose to smell at all.

Bluey, the first link says replacing cat convertor will not reduce the odor, the second says replacing it will get rid of the odor. If it's actually fuel related, what fuel do u use and i assume your car doesnt give this smell?

Thanks guys, much appreciate the inputs. IS250X, how much did the X cost?, heard if retailed same as the Prestige model.

Manufacturer's interval is every 15000kms. That's too long for my liking, although i believe Mobil 1 can go that long before changing. I want to see how good Mobil 1 is, and if i think it feels good while starting up and driving, i might stick with it. Dealer's oil seems to be restrictive.
-
So today i did my maiden oil change (at my mechanic, not dealer) at 7000Kms. I had bought two cartons of Mobil 1 0w-40 some 4 weeks ago and didn't get to use it due to time and today i made time. Anyway my mechanic having seen the price of the oils suggested i should not waste money on it since i change oil every 5000km, instead use the dealer's retailed oil. Today change was 6.5L which costs $96 worth of oil (5L costs $80), filter $25 and $20 labour. So $141. I would think next time i'd do the change myself and save $20. Still the $96 is a real cost for just oil. Should i stick with Mobil 1 or save money and use dealer oils?

Outside Tempreture Gauge

I'm amazed the dealers let you drive off without first checking with you to see if everything was alright. Just take it back to the dealers. -
How Do I Take Apart The Dashboard?
ldc replied to Multiplex's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 / Toyota Altezza Club
you can try asking them but i dont think replacing the cover is gonna work as the parts needs to be the same to fit right? If it is the cover i would be VERY VERY happy as i will find a way to cure it. Will try and drive without the cover and see if your theory is correct. -

Why do u need to order a replacement, take it to the dealer and ask them to replace it, ALTHOUGH i highly doubt it's the cover thagt makes the noise. you can tell where the noise is, if you stab upwards from right underneath the glovebox, or just thump the dash. Should hear the buzzing noise...
