I will be needing new tyres in the next couple of months. Went to Bob Jane today, just to make a start on my research, and was told that a great tyre would be the Falken ZE912. It will accomodate the different sizes front and back and apparently got a very good rap in a tyre comparison in one of the car mags. He assured me they are quiet and sporty. Does anyone have an opinion of these tyres, positive or negative? If not, what have you replaced your tyres with? Ta PS He also bagged the Dunlop Maxx sport tyres the car was originally fit with.

As Project has already said, I love the Meguiars stuff. Quality at a nice price. Howiefied is also correct, tech wax 2 as the final finish. Don't forget to clay the car before waxing or any other paint correction prior to waxing. Look after your dark car and you will be amazed at the constant depth of shine and how good it feels to get into a clean car. Mine gets washed most weekends which makes it very easy to clean each time. Enjoy :P

Just extending the current model as much as possible before the new model arrives. Great marketing, but a pain in the ars# for those of us that wanted one 2 years ago. -
DCW The manual has instructions on connecting your key to button 1, and another key to button 2. That way when you open the door whilst holding your key, you will always get the same position. It also adjusts the side mirrors. Works beautifully for my wife and I. Sorry, I couldn't be buggered looking it up at the moment.

I don't think so! The "40" is the profile of your tyre. The wide is the "225/255". Both right. The 40 relates to the height of the sidewall, but is relative to the width of the tyre and is called the aspect ratio or profile. the 40 is a percentage of the tyre width. so the wider the tread the higher the sidewall for the same aspect ratio. Thats why the sidewall on your front 225/40 is lower than the sidewall on your 255/40 rears. 225 will have 90mm sidewall and 255 will have 102mm sidewall.

So does that mean my 17" rims will be 5km/h out, since 16's are 10 and 18's are OK. That doesn't sound right. I always thought the rolling circumference was the same for all rims they offer, they just use lower profile tyres for the larger rims, and conversley higher profile for smaller rims. From this website http://www.trafficlaw.com.au/speedos.html The current Rules disallow under-reading, and permit over-reading by up to 4kmh + 10%. So at 60 on the dial it could be travelling at (60-4-5.6(10%)) 50.4km/h and still be legal. at 100 it gets worse, you might actually be travelling at (100-4-9.6)= 86.4km/h and still be legal. Go figure

But it was locked in my garage and there is no evidence of any tampering. Car was also locked and no tampering there either. None of my kids sleep walk ;) Jomster mentioned battery or sensor. Battery seems fine, maybe sensor. My phone was not in the car, was about 15 metres away. Any other thoughts? If it happens again I'll give the service department a call. -
Lexus This all depends on the definition of "detail" as used by different people. To me, and most car cleaning place I see, a detail is simply getting the car clean-so, wash exterior, wheels, rims, and blacken the tyres. Interior is vacuum and wipe over with cloth and some spray to remove dust and smell nice. Once detailed then you then find you need to pay extra for protection such as waxing and polishing, let alone any paint correction, and same goes for interior if you want leather conditioning, carpets cleaned etc. So the way I look at it my car gets a detail most weekends, bt me, but will have the waxing and polishing done about 2-3 times per year, again by me. It really should be more often but that's what I get around to. Much cheaper, but then again I do enjoy doing it. BTW I don't think it matters if the car is luxury or not, the amount of detailing really depends on your passion for your car. I see loads of BMW's driving around with front wheels that look like they have never been cleaned since purchase.........go figure

Akuma I thought the suspension was the same through the whole range, and it was the wheel and tyre packages that varied. The bigger wheels with lower rubber will give a firmer ride than the SL with slightly smaller wheels ane more rubber. I'm very happy with my SL's ride and handling. Having come from a Subaru WRX and Liberty B4, the SL definatley rides more comfortably. For the power we get, the handling I find to be a very good compromise but is still surprisingly agile if you want to push it a bit. Just remember it is heavy for a small car and small engine. Just wish they would bring in the IS350, for me the ISF is overkill.

Yep The standard windows have a very light tint, as you would be seeing on carsales, and all side windows are the same. Unlike the RX. The picture of FrankyX's car is definately aftermarket tinting, and well worth the effort. Especially on black. :P As someone has already mentioned, get it done after delivery by an installer you feel you can trust. You will likely get better quality tint and have a place to it back to if an issue arises.

After claying is the "bump" still there?, could you feel it as you ran over it with the clay? and is the paint around the bump now very smooth? It may be worthwhile leaving the car in the sun for a while to warm up the paint and then try the clay. If it's sap then it should soften. If none of this works then try having checked by a couple of crash shops to get their opinion. Sapphire cam, if done properly there is absolutely no danger to the paint. You just need to make sure you use enough of the lubricating spray so the clay doesn't grab, it should run very smoothly and easiliy over the paint surface. And make sure, if you drop the clay on the ground, THROW IT AWAY, as it will have picked up grit from the ground and you will then proceed to grind it into your paint surface. video on how and why Written info http://www.waxit.com.au/howto.asp?howto=2
