  1. Yes. How often you clay will depend on where and how the car is kept. If it's always outside even overnight then you will need to do it more often. I have done mine once so far but am about to do it again as I will polish it up for summer. My car is in a garage overnight but outside during the day. So I do it about every 4-6 months My process for full external makeover is to wash, clay, polish, wax, wax. 2 thin coats of wax are easier and better than trying to do one thin coat. On a black car it looks brilliant.
  2. Nothing Like that. It's like rubbing your car with a lump of plasticine. You spray on some lubricant then rub the area and it removes all the little bumps. You won't believe how easy it is until you try it. Try this pdf file to see how it's done. http://www.carcareproducts.com.au/public_file/46 I wouldn't wax/polish my car before claying it.
  3. ldc Have you tried claying your paint? http://www.carcareproducts.com.au/products...y_bars_and_kits This does a great job of removing the contaminants that will bond to the paint and make it feel rough. It can then be easily waxed, and will then be much easier to clean. The contaminants will always settle on the horizontal surfaces, (bumper, boot lid, bonnet and roof) moreso than the sides of the car. Even a brand new car off the boat will benefit from the claying as it collects a lot of cr@& between the factory and your dealer.
  4. No. Bendix make very good pads, it's just that the material they are made from may be a different composition to the ones on our Lexus' as OEM. Lexus will have spent some time matching the pads composition with the discs/rotors composition for the performance they were looking for. By changing one or the other you affect the original performance. Usually it's pretty minor and most people wont pick the difference. I'm sure your new pads will be fine.
  5. ProjectIS, you definitely need product on your dash to stop it drying out and aging. I use a cleaner then 303 protectant which sounds similar to the vinyl and rubber care product discussed earlier, but also says it it provides UV protection. Essential on the dash if you don't want it to fade.
  6. This website has loads of different brands and you will be able to find everything you need to clean your car, inside and out. Not always cheapest but a great place to see what is available and easy to look at products by brand or by useage. Along with leather cleaner you should also get leather conditioner, or an all in one, if time is a concern. I'm always amazed at the colour that comes back into the leather after conditioning, especially on my black interior.
  7. Not a fan of armor-all myself. Plenty of other quality products. I like the range Meguiars has and you can get them from autocheap and most other auto stores.
  8. As ProjectIS has said DVD must be original or good copy MP3 can definately be in folders, but must be on CD. Cannot play a DVD of MP3.
  9. Has anyone replaced their brake pads and achieved the same braking performance and less dust on the rims? If so, what did you use? The dust is really starting to give me the sh&%$
  10. I also have a feeling it is cat related. Maybe you get the smell when the cat is still cold/ish, does it smell after extended driving? I've never had the smell but do use premium unleaded, not sure if that makes a difference or not.
  11. Same here :P Cheaper than through Lexus, and didn't have to pay extra 'cos of the luxury car tax.
  12. If you mean the front emblem, that comes on the sports luxury model and houses the sensors for the radar cruise control and pre crash brake assist and seatbelt pretensioner, when the car detects an iminent collision.

  14. I like the silhouette. could it be moved to fit over "lexusownersclub" leaving au. and .com at either end?
  15. Tint it, you'll love it :P Mine is metallic and has caused no issues with radio Very nice Bluey. Was that the darkest they could do? I really fancy the idea of them being super, super dark - sort of Batmobile-ish... Darkest legal. There is definately darker available, much darker.

  17. No. Definately diffferent meanings. However a soft and thin paint will scrath through more easily than a soft, thick or hard, thin paint. That's how I see it anyway.
  18. I hate dirty wheels more than cleaning them, so I'll keep cleaning mine. These are easier to clean than the ones on my previous car, which also made as much dust, so I'm better off actually. :P
  19. The bottom of the hazard light button has an indent to allow you to get some leverage to pull the facia out. Kinda like a fingernail notch to remove a battery cover on your TV remote control. Having said that, once I got the removal pins into the right position the facia just came away easily with the pins. I didn't need to use the button notch. :P
  20. I had a 15K first service about a month ago, and it was free. My next one is 30K. So no idea what you will be charged for a 20K service.
