I forgot to add as well, that i also got the techs to perform a transmission flush while I was having the bushes installed. I was noticing that the gears would sometimes flare on cold  mornings soon after the car starts, and around corners. It was intermittent, but there was a definite pattern to it.

I also had noticed a "clunk" when the car was shifting back to first in low speeds, in manual mode whether shifting full manual or changing by itself as you come to a rest, again in manual mode. I always thought it was odd. But then i read here:

Basically after the flush and a transmission "ECU reset", all of these issues are gone. There is no easy way of flushing the transmission, and we got around it my just draining and refilling. This means there is some residue left each time because its not an entire flush. But we are getting around this by doing it a total of three times. Labor is minimal this method, and the oil is only $50 per 4 litres. Each flush takes roughly half of a oil tin, so i will do it once now, once pre track day check in Nov, then the final at the scheduled service in Feb.

At this stage it appears to be a very worthwhile preventative measure, and the car now is behaving the way it would have off the show room floor. At minimum cost.

How much does this cost each time?

How much oil do you use each flush - 2 litres?

Just a matter of finding the time to do it. anyone should be able to do this yes?

Yeah should be pretty straight forward, but when in doubt with such a crucial (and expensive) component of the car, i leave it to someone more capable. I think it was $80 labor. 

I think its closer to 2/3 of the tin maybe, after three flushes should use 2 tins.

Has anyone taken there ISF to a GOOD auto trans shop for a complete oil change??

My ISF has been flushed a few times now.    There is no dipstick for checking the fluid level.  so you must put back in the exact same amount that you drain out, and they need to be at the same temperature for correct measurement.   If you flush it, you will not know for sure.   I’ll keep getting Lexus to do mine.

There are a few auto gearboxes that are "sealed for life" with no dipstick, Ford, Toyota,  the auto specialist said its a load of crap he has done stacks of them so i might get the ISF done by him.

Go for it, be good to see how it works out. Technically the gearbox oil is good for life, but in the above thread its pretty clear that replacing the oil and flushing can have great benefits, especially if you are holding onto the car for a while / driving it hard.

Plenty of good salesman out there, there is no special tool / easy way for flushing. You let it get cold. completely, overnight, then refill with the specified fluids, check, test, check then test again. There is no easy way.

The Lexus master technicians advice will do me fine. Each to their own though, let me know how you go.

As long as it is done correctly, there should be no issues.   It just depends who you trust.

As my service is fast approaching i called Lexus Parramatta for a quote for a 90000km service and to do a transmission flush.

I was told $1300 for the service and $300 for the flush.  I said can you confirm the flush.  30min later they called back and advised its $620 so the service and flush just under 2k, hmmm just a tad excessive (well to me anyway lol) but yes peace of mind given Lexus is working on it and all the genuine parts are at their fingertips

Perhaps consider getting your own spark plugs. Bought 6 for my 350 for around $100AUD delivered and saved around $320 (Since they charge $70 a plug).

Yeah i generally do that, just wanted to get a price from Lexus for a comparison.  I always get my own oil, OEM filter, ill get the Denso plugs (seen 6 for $110 but need 8), ill get the aircon filter if its beyond cleaning (looked easy enough to remove from the glovebox), brake fluid, WS ATF fluid etc.  Just wanted to see what they charge for labour.

Never really bothered in the past supplying parts for previous cars for a service but theres some real savings going this way when it comes to Lexus.  I could only imagine what Merc, BMW, or Audi would charge for their services lol

Just spoke to Toyota Lansvale, they quoted me $40 a plug.  Not as bad as $70 but still a rip off lol

Lexus Parra quoted me $71 for the cabin air filter and $125.75 for 4lts of the WS ATF

Ill be getting the above elsewhere but just an FYI if anyone else is interested.

sold at Repco for $51.00. 

Boys it does not harm to replace the the trans oil every service or 2nd service. Cleaner the oil the better. 

I serviced mine not long ago ( 40,000km service ) and replaced the trans fluid. Will do next service as well. We service a lot of Toyota`s here that use the WS fluid and and most places neglect to change the fluid. Seen various Aurions, Klugers,  Hi Lux & so on with 40-60,000km where the fluid is already dark. So for me the cleaner the better.

I saw that container for $69.95.  Ebay even pointed me in the direction of the same 4Lt container for $55 (pick up only) but its a different part number.  That is #08886-02305 whereas Lexus and Toyota quoted me #08886-02505 which is around the $125 mark.  On Ebay its about $120 or near enough.  Not sure of the differences between the 2.

Does anyone know the part number for the gasket and whatever part is needed for the Trans flush.  Got my car serviced today but the workshop couldnt perform it as he told me Lexus didnt have any of the gaskets required so i was hoping to order this ready for next time.

The latter of the 2 part numbers is specified for the CVT transmissions so why they would price you that one is strange.......maybe someone got their wires crossed ??? 

As for the trans service kit it is only the pan gasket & filter that is required if you choose to go that way , depends on km done. Otherwise drain plug removed & fluid re-filled, preferably cold, aprox 3.5ltrs

Still havent gotten around to doing this yet but will soon.  Was going to do it last late last year but the workshop i was getting to do the service advised Lexus didnt have the gasket in stock so i couldnt do it anyway.

Do any of you guys know the part # for the required gasket.  If im to buy the parts, besides the 4lt of WS ATF oil what else do i need to source so i only need to pay for the labour from a workshop

The workshop told me the gasket was approx $200 which i thought was excessive but im yet to call Lexus to confirm.

Just had a full flush new filter and pan gasket by a GOOD auto gearbox shop. I supplied the WS ATF (12litres trade cost $204,80 from Toyota ) $295 parts and labour so $500 all up and yes no difference just nice and smooth as it was, 76000km,s and its done, so just a price guide and peace of mined......cheers

Yeah i had a full flush by a transmission specialist (name slips my mind right now) few weeks back.  Anyway, similar, about 13ltrs, pan gasket, oil, filter etc.  Mine has about 90k and im sure it hasnt been done prior.  He showed me my oil.  Obviously it wasnt pinkish but ive seen pics of black however mine was light brown.

He remarked reasonably good so it gave me peace of mind as well, knowing i wont have to get it done for quite some time especially as i dont track it.

 Sealed for life means the life of the item (gearbox) before it eventually fails.

It doesn't mean it cannot be made to last longer by performing preventative maintenance.

Servicing will make its " life" longer.
