Just rang Lexus of Canberra to get a 90K service and was quoted $920 as the plugs need changing. Is that what others have paid?

Also have to get them to check out the boot as the remote and pushing the interior button won't open it. It is a pain to pull out the key from the fob everytime. Extended warranty should cover this.

Only had the car since Feb and it is the best car I've ever driven/owned. That ML stereo via my iPod is giving me industrial deafness but I love. How did I survive Canberra winters before I had heated seats? :-)

For the boot option, I think there's a button in the glove box that controls this. Can't remember exactly but it's got something to do with the boot - Well that's what's in my '08 model

Damn!!!! That seems a little rich for a standard service; no matter what needs to be done. I suppose in the ACT they can afford to charge more as you won't be driving to Syd or Mel just to get your car serviced or compare. Given that thought; maybe just call the Sydney dealers to get an idea on what they would charge to make sure you aren't getting ripped off.

At least up here we have 4 service centers to choose from. I've found Chatswood the best and cheapest.

Sydney City - 8303 1900

Chatswood - 9410 3288

Parramatta - 1300 797 837

Sutherland - 9542 6167

For a car out of warranty (assuming yours is a 2005??) wouldn't you want to look for alternative places?

Perhaps a cruise to Sydney's Chatwood dealer for the 90k service (and meetup with us Sydneyers) might be the way to go then :)

I think the price you've been quoted ($920) is very competitive....

Mine costs $700 for 30k service so $920 sounds fair to me. I've only driven 4000km in the last 5 months and have received a reminder letter to bring her back for another service. Ouch!.

You guys are legends. Just went out in the dark with a torch and found the boot deadlock button in the glovebox. Must have bumped it when I installed my iPod.

I thought $920 was steep too so will ring other dealers to check and head office if there is too much difference. The car does have an extended warranty till 2013 but that doesn't cover servicing. I am getting a courtesy car even though I'm not an encore member which is a bonus.

I know the iridium plugs are exey but I think to keep the extended warranty up I have to service via Lexus. Will get tryes and brakes aftermarket to save dollars though.

Thanks again all - this forum is great

WOW, where did you get that at? Chatswood charged around $550 for 30k. I got my 45k coming up in the next month or two; will be interesting.

Speaking of Lexus servicing in general - I've had 2 so far ever since I got the car new.

Does anyone normally get:

- 1 follow up call from the actually dealer,

- Then about a month or two later a call from Lexus Australia to answer a questionnaire?

Just curious...

Yea I usually get the calls; I even had one last week following up as the next service is due in a few weeks.

Too many calls can become annoying, but it's good to keep it at front of mind and its a good service from Lexus overall.

Got my fuel injection clean at 45k - and it only cost me an extra $80 or something (through Melb City Lexus). I noticed a definite improvement in performance and fuel economy following (0.3 - 0.4/100km better around town) and a bit quicker 'off the mark'. Its not just a chemical flush/wash, but a physical brush and clean too. I will get it done again at 90k.

Good to know, I might ask about this and see if it really is necessary. How have you found the fuel economy? I'm huge on keeping the averages down.

I would still check with the dealer how they actually clean the injectors.

If they just pour fuel injector chemical in the tank then it's a gimmick. If they actually physically clean it or put it through ultrasonic cleaner I might consider it at my next service.

Wow ! $900 for 90K is cheap !

Did my 90k service with Lexus of Parramatta and I paid close to $1600 !!! (including rear disc pads change). I think without the disc pad change, it would be $1300. And my car is still under warranty.

Oh well. At least they did a good job. I guess I have to go shopping around lexus dealers for lower service fees ???

BRAKES - get a quote from your Lexus dealer. I actually went through my Lexus dealership with my front brakes, because it was for memory only about $280, which was the same price as what I was quoted from independent brake specialists (sure you could go to Brakes Plus and get the cheap hard pads fitted for $150 which chew through your rotors) - and if there is little diff in price, then its a no-brainer to go through Lexus dealer with work like that, esp. if anything goes wrong.

I have all my cars serviced at Reliable Automotive in Artarmon.

They are honest, and essentially "Reliable".

Full warranty book service, and yes your warranty with Lexus is still valid/covered.

Just had my 90k service and spent all of $300.

They will drive you to the station, or a cab to the city is not expensive.

Yes, Lexus give you a "loaner" for the day, but for the extra $300-$500 I figure I can live without the "free" loan car.......

I had Reliable recommended to me when I needed an honest mechanic to look at my BMW, and I have been using them ever since.

I wouldn't buy a Lexus that didn't have a full Lexus service history.

Gives me the impression the owner has scimped on mantainence. (not saying that you have)

I know that a non Lexus service history has a negative effect on trade in valuation.

hmmm i phoned up all the sydney dealers for the 60k service and they all asked for $750~ish and Lexus of Canberra was asking for about $540 so in my opinion i reckon the canberra branch will be cheaper HOWEVER i don't have any idea about the 90k service so yeh i'd probs say to just give em a quick phone call to see whats going on.
