  1. Hey Jomster, Look, with the guy that came out for my wheels, all he used was a small air grinder / polisher. The disk was forward facing and he only leveled out the gutter rash to its deepest point and for the length of the rash. Generally, the rash ain't going to be deeper then a mm..............unless you really stuffed up big, so I can't really imagine that you are going to get weakening, but I guess that there might be people that go ballistic with the grinder!!!!! Also, this dude did have the facility to spin the wheels like a lathe if required, but I guess with my wheels, he was able to free style just fine! Obviously my wheels were polished so no probs...............with painted wheels, they probably would only smooth out the area and then fill with an epoxy resin. Perhaps your guy was talking about cracked rims that have been welded?!?!?! maybe...................!
  2. 1. ilv1004s- Danny 2. LEX51S - Chris (depending on date) 3. ProjectIS - D (Need you ask!)
  3. And perhaps you will be the first to contribute lol!!! Surely there are guys out there that visit this forum with an IS-F!!!!
  4. Hey Cevu, Pretty good thread, hey!! As for your vision, nice!!!! I have never been a fan of the classic "coloured" wheel, but the Work emotions on that ride look tough! If we are sticking with the 250's though, (for a little while longer anyway),we need to start looking into some local BBK's. Cost a mint to freight in. Especially if you are going to paint the calipers purple, you will need them to be atleast a 12pot! ok, maybe 8 will do! Ha! (The pic has the the IS350 cal's which are bulk bigger then our baby 250's)!! Upgrade a must!! The GFX kit completes nice!! I will say though, Im not a big fan of the visors so please don't include them in your vision brother!! ;) Im feel'n it!! ;) Hey Art, did you change your wheels???
  5. look, now im caught up in the debate!!! Ya'll all have valid points and im torn between the two!! (Im loving the debate)!!! Here is my opinion......... 1.The Work wheels in the 19's (HOT). As long as the car does not look like a boat and is lowered accordingly! The BBS, a nice look for sure, but nicer in the 19's in my opinion. In chatting with 4plzu, ride noise and comfort ain't a huge concern so why not. Personally myself, I prefer 18's with a full faced wheel so to get the appearance of a larger dia! When you go deep dish as with the VIP style, you need 19's otherwise they look too small!! 2.The Tanabe exhaust, not an over board (speed racer) sound that you would expect from an over exhausted Hyundai, but never the less, like Bartek mentioned, not my flavour also. I don't like the constant drone in the cabin. Much prefer my F-Sport intake!!( Thanks Ilv)!! Better sound then the M3 in my opinion!! 3.The Mesh grill, sorry 4plzu! Not feeling it. I do like the prestige of the Lexus Grill. Like you said though, easy changed! 4.Lastly for now, GFX kit rocks!!! If you want a kit that is!!! As for the pics, the pearl white, second from the top looks HOT!! You can't tell me that those deep dish wheels cheapen the ride! Yeah, as you metioned 4plzu , just heading towards the VIP style! That is still quite rare in Aus when looking at the IS250's. Must admit, the big breaks along with the slotted cross drilled rotors definately helps build the image of a classy sports saloon! IMO! ;)
  6. Hi mate, I hope you find one!!! The 250 is the way to go but perhaps im slightly biased!! And like you said, the EMV is essential!!! Good luck!!
  7. Work Varianza's, the guys will know, my all time favourite wheel! Nice choice! Last time I enquired, about $3800 from NZ landed. 19's obviously! As for the suspension, if you are after the super low drop, have you considered the H&R coils?? You still get the nice drop like you can get from coilovers, but allot easier on the budget! Also still a progressive! Just another option!
  8. You better not get the front GFX lip with out me brother!! Let me know if you getting it Dan and we might do a mini group buy if thats cool!!! Oh yeh, a hook up sounds cool!!!
  9. Hi 4plzu, Mate, first and foremost, welcome!!!!! (Although I must say that it probably doesn't feel that way from your end)! Congrats on purchasing your ride at 18!! I think that its brilliant and no doubt you have worked hard to put your self in that position!!! So again, props! You are never too young! Its your priorities at any given time that dictate where you spend your hard earned cash!! Thanks for sharing and Im sure allot of the guys here............(and I could just start going through the list of names now but I won't at this stage), will only be too happy to throw feedback your way! As for my thoughts, I think you will read through prior posts on what I think about the suspension setups etc. In short, I went Eibach coils as I wasn't after an aggressive drop and I still wanted to maintain a decent ride. Like you, I wanted to see what others had experienced so that I too could learn the easy way! Allot of the members here are brilliant at helping out so don't get scared off yet! Coilovers are not just for the track as some may suggest. If you want to achieve those aggressive looks, whilst still maintaining an awesome handle, they are the way to go! The classic dollars Vs needs! Mate again, welcome and I look forward to seeing "YOUR" creation as you go! Its your ride, your flavour, see how you go! I will add though, like some of the guys did mention, do be mindful of the "cheapening" factor! That being said, I don't think that you can put a dollar value on what is good or rather what is not going to cheapen the car... I have seen huge cash spent on well known brands, and the mods were just tasteless!! Anyway, my advise, choose your look and don't chop and change! If there is anything I can do mate, let us know! Later! ;)
  10. Ok, Its my turn now! illusivedreams. What the guys don't know, I have already had to ask you to respect others and their opinions whilst on this forum. When I remove posts that I feel would offend, you accuse me of over moderating. I have explained to you that the AUS LOC is a quiet forum compared to say the Ford forums. I do have connections with a couple of these and I would hate to see "ours" resemble them! I thought this time that I would see how things pan out if I let this post run,...................... and what happens, all the basic / common rules seen at any forum go out the window. Fellas, I know that I don't have to ask you all to please remember common courtesy when on this forum. Everyone here is entitled to their opinions and views. I do not expect to see this type of posting again. I will remove offensive posts and increase warning levels so please remember common sense when posting. PM me if you have any questions or issues. AGAIN, I WILL NOT TOLERATE PERSONAL ATTACKS HERE! I would anticipate that this topic is now closed! Thanks.
  11. Solirossi, I think the baby seat discussion is almost covered, but ...........................the F1 is far from sorted! Im loving it! 3 different opinions on next year! Definately a discussion point for the general area boys because I can see that we are going to have conflicting views to a certain degree and I have alot to say!! But I will quickly say, Art, I think that you are right to a certain degree with Button on tyres, and we know he can be quick due to some of the track time records that he holds, but...........Hamilton is too comfortable at Mclaren and being such a techinical driver, he has the ability to change style when needed. Shumie, publicity perhaps??? The new Merc Silver arrows should be a force to reckon with! Im glad mr personality (Kimi) has left Ferrari! Anyway, I will start a discussion in the general area fellas so to be continued!! ;)
  12. Yeah, I do remember most of the convos that I have had here on the forum. Even who posted what posts! As for the DVD hack, yes, the hack is a standard feature now'a' days! Ha! ;) (Plenty of posts here on the forum when you are ready)! In my opinion, and GSaad verified it, no issues with the seat. Good point with the mat. I just keep a blanket in the boot for when I install the seat! I am about to ditch the child seat and go with a booster. I will let you know how that goes! Roof racks???...............................nice ride!!!!...................................roof rack?? And yes, the RBR team have two good drivers and their cars are quick. No refueling next season, interesting! Mclaren will dominate though! Ha! Sorry!
  13. Hi mate, Look, we have two cars in the family. One of which is an SUV and it is our main family car! The IS250 is mine! That being said, I carry a full sized baby seat in the boot and on the odd occasion I will pick up my 3 year old or we will all go out in my car as a family. (2 kids) in the back. Plenty of room. Only thing is that my 3 year olds feet can touch the front seat if I have it tilted back. Nothing a damp cloth can't fix! The EMV is a mandatory as my daughter loves her Hi5 DVDs in the car! The chicks dig it when Im cruising through town with some Hi5 Tunes cranked on the ML lol! If you look at some past topics you will notice a few on Bike transport via Tow bar attachments and roof racks. (Please don't do the roof racks to the IS250)!!! I don't want to see your car in the spotted section for the wrong reason!!! On another note, looks like an awesome season of F1 ahead of us next year! I will carry this convo on via the PM's! Webber was definately a chance!
  14. Hey Dan, Yeh, peaking that ya back!! About time brother! Its good to see some of the 'ol boys starting to re-appear! Thats you Cevu and Q!!. After our convo yesterday, I definately thought about a catch up meet! Especially now after Cevu and Q have made some changes! I would of hopefully installed the Eibachs by then so I won't stand out for the wrong reasons come the meet!! Talk soon Fellas!
  15. Nice write up Invisigoth!! I have to agree, finding good spots for the ballasts is probably the most difficult part of the whole install! I remember asking FrankyX the same question re. where to mount them!! I mounted the drivers side ballast in front of the air box. Nice spot that was out of the way, and did not inhibit access to the filter cover! I utilised the front airbox bolt to secure the bracket for the ballast! As for the passenger side, I will be honest and admit that I cable tied it to the conduit covered loom that run alongside the filler tube. Its the stiff loom!! One thing that I will add to your tut, when re-installing the filler tube, twist and push down grabbing hold as far down the tube as possible. This should ensure that the tube clicks back onto the reservoir!! Again mate, great job with the write up!!! I will leave your tutorial here for a day or two and then pin it with the others for refer!!
  16. Ha! Yes thanks Q!! I have only been asking for the last month lol!! Like I said earlier, It does seem that my ride does follow in your cars footsteps!! Now that Im riding on Eibachs, its awesome to see how the oems look....................and I have to say, and I think alot of us would agree, looks brilliant!! Especially for those of us that do want to keep with an over all "luxurious / sporty / Oem" vibe!! Again, awesome look, thanks for posting up brother!!!
  17. OK, here are the bulb types for the IS! Simply google the bulb type and you will get the associated pics. As know doubt all would agree, the easiest place to get the LED Equivs would be Ebay! (As much as I hate saying it)!!! (Disclaimer... I cant take credit for laying all the types out as below.....Dude from CL did all the hard Yards) Although I did repost which does entitle me to some props!!! Anyway.... These are the sizes/type of bulbs: Low beam headlamp H11-55W High beam headlamp 9005 Parking light 168 Front turn signal 992 (7440A) Rear turn signal 7440 Tail light LED Stop light LED High mount stop light LED Fog/Driving light 9006 License plate 168 Back up light 921 Front sidemarker 194 Rear sidemarker 194 Glove box 37 Front Dome light(3 bulbs inside) 194 Rear Dome light (2 inside) DE3175 also called "festoon" bulbs Step/Courtesy light 194 Boot DE3022 Hope this helps!!! ;)
  18. As mentioned, I bought my car from Sutherland, and get it serviced at Chatswood. 15k service was brilliant even though I bought my car from another dealer. As Dan said, it is my understanding that Lexus Australia get charged regardless. I have the free servicing for "X" amount of time and due to Lexus Aus paying, not the dealer, I am able to take the car anywhere for service. Another member, Cevu, had his whole EMV replaced under warranty through another service provider. He was wrapped!! In short, I don't think you will have hassles in my opinion.
  19. I couldn't agree with your statement more! I found those small things like "Communication" made the world of difference! I couldn't praise them enough after my 15k service! Im about to book my 30k service with Chatswood in the next week or so! I do have a few issues this time so I look forward to seeing how they handle them! The price don't bother me at the moment as I don't pay for servicing yet!! Atlantis, I bought my car from Sutherland Lexus. Although I don't think much of the current sales team there, I heard that the service dept ain't bad. That was from the rep that sold me my car.(No longer there though)!
  20. Hey mate! All depends on your budget! You got the cash, you can't beat coil overs! You have full control of your desired req's! What are you currently riding on? Stockers?? You will get a massive improvement to what feels as body roll just with decent profile rubber imo! The S-tech coils are pretty good for the price. You will find prior posts where I have favoured them. Just keep in mind that you will lose some of the Lexus ride.................but damn worth it if you ask me! Mate, in short, if you only want an inch drop, I think the Coilovers are overkill. You are probably best sourcing some F-Sport coils from O/S as they will give you that "calm" drop. Let us know what you decide! Try calling Fulcrum and see if a local store to you can match the price. Save on freight! ;)
  21. Really unusual considering that the manual shift mode is through switches!!!!!
