  1. Cheers for the offer. Still toying up as ive received feedback praising 275/30 but also 285/30 and also 275/35 so just trying to determine what best suits my situation (daily drive, no track etc). Currently using MPSS 255/35 (kept to OEM size at the time) but to be honest, i dont want to get them again as they dont suit my situation. i.e. ive done about 15000kms on them, probably got another 3k or so left but after about 10-12000kms, they were already losing their bite and no longer had great grip. Easily spinning from lights with minimal effort. Im sure on a track they are great but i suspect about 80% of the wear and tear i got from them was routine city driving so a bit of a waste. After a harder compound this time which will provide ample grip for the speeds i manage to do. At the time paid 400ish each but can get 275/30, decent brand still for much cheaper.
  2. Hi all, I know there’s countless tyre threads already but haven’t seen a lot of responses that address my question. I’ll be getting tyres soon for the rears. Currently got aftermarket wheels so the rim is .5 inch wider at 9.5 vs. 9 for OEM. In light of that, when I got tyres almost 20k ago, I decided to stick to the OEM size at the time of 255/35. Now I want to go wider and the most popular size without going extreme or lipping the guards is 275/30. Most responses I’ve read, everyone talks about how much more aggressive it looks. This part doesn’t bother me, it looks aggressive with my new rims anyway but I’m deciding whether to go this size or 265/35 (still wider than OEM but basically more rubber, taller profile. My car is street driven only and is my daily ride so if I barely drove it or tracked it only, id go 275/30 no problem. Issue is around the suburbs, City, Parramatta, etc, some roads are crap. Some that I use every day, I brace myself for the bump so I’m worried if I go 30 profile, the car is basically riding on more rim and less tyre so I don’t want to buckle my rims. So basically just after people’s opinions who are either running 275/30 or 265/35 on 19 inch rims, daily rides as to what they find bearable on our roads. Is anyone running on 275/30 and find the ride ok over some of our crappy roads?
  3. 18ADF, very curious to see how your setup turns out. Theyre not exactly a common car here and the ones i see are usually stock or got the usual boltons that i could tell. Would be great to see something beyond this like many have in the states. Seen a video a while ago with a similar approach for the turbo. Cant find the video but this one has a similar rear mount
  4. For the look at me factor and not being able to leave anything standard lol, i looked into it last year for my ISF. Messaged a few different places in Sydney that actively promoted they do this kind of service like Carbon car sytems etc. Long story short, here is their response at the time: " Regarding your IS-F and the COMPUSTAR remote start system unfortunately we have found that the overseas Lexus vehicles differ electronically to the Aus delivered cars. So we cannot offer a solution for this vehicle" Another stated that the way the Lexus ignition setup works, is those that have a working system (remote starter), once in the car, the ignition would turn off and you would need to start it again. Im sure there are some youtube videos showing this which seemed pointless to me having to effectively start the car twice everytime when using this feature so i didnt pursue it after this as i had other mods to spend my $ on lol
  5. Lol i have an xforce exhauast as well. For the price they are hard to beat. I got the Varex version as i leave the house about 5am everyday so keeps the family and neighbours happy as i can open the valves when im out on the main road. Definitely has a nice growl to it and it makes downshifting so much better. Never used to notice the bleeps before but with an exhaust, driving in F mode with the paddles is much more fun.
  6. Holy crap, for $1600 i would of snapped that up. Ps not trying to rub it in as you already know you lost out on that one lol.
  7. Could be pending the price. In some ways im secretly happy its pricey to stop me from doing it if that makes sense. Ive read on some US club posts that the new Sikky give more power but costs more so probably similar with the PPE's overall. Think one seller was showing SIkky for about 1800US from memory
  8. Hey welcome to the ISF family. Being a long time lurker, im sure you'll realise, overall they are a great package. Great writeup and comprehensive too. Im sure you'll be uploading more posts and pics once you get more mods done like the mandatory exhaust to remind you, youre in a V8 along with headers and im sure you'll get a supercharger in a month or so lol. Will this be a street or track car for you. Mine is a street only so when i had to change the OEM rotors, i went DBA T3 slotted and then changed the pads to Project Mu. Couldnt stand the brakedust (even though i got black Vertini rims) and happily my brake squeal has gone (nothing is more embarassing than pulling up at the lights in a shiny but squeaky ISF). Coming from an AWD turbo, and being my first 8, i was surprised with how much grunt it had when pushed. It really is a great daily ride as like you said, its a calm car to drive when cruising. Like anything though, you get used to it and im already thinking of more power but i promised myself, no more modding a car, just let it be and enjoy it. Ill see how long that lasts lol. Ps Would never have even thought about reversing the push/pull gear changes. Just something i got used to but yes its annyoing when around a corner trying to find the paddle whereas other paddle sports cars have the paddles seperate so atleast you can always find them :-) Those RX7's have always looked great, still do and was ahead of its time in terms of styling. They can still definitely hold their own. I like them and the Supras and was surprised when looking not long ago, just how much they can still go for. Recently got mine detailed (i have some stuff like countours, chemical guys honeydew foam for the foam lance etc) but not as much gear as yours. Got the ClearFX (9 Moh) protection for the exterior with some paint correction. The gloss on black is great, always a mirror finish even when dirty. Great colour too, always wanted this type of blue but at the time when i got mine just over a year ago, there wasnt many around so got black, did the whole black out everything and im happy with the result, looks tough but a pain to keep clean vs a white car that i had for a long time.
  9. Cant comment about Bris as im Syd based but as for the headers, myself and many others have dreamt about getting headers for ages now. Ive never ever seen anyone make negative remarks besides the price. Most say it provides big power gains here and the US forums. More so than an exhaust, intake etc, however expect to pay. Think from memory PPE, Sikky etc are up near the 3k mark and installation is not straight forward, its time consuming. I believe PPE have a revised newer version of their headers released for more power gains. A large exhaust workshop advised me that they could custom make me headers with similar specs to the PPE design, fitted etc for about 3.5k (that was late last year sometime). Good luck in your endeavours, hope you get some nice ones installed.
  10. Yeah ive heard the same. Wasnt deliberate in my case, it just caught me out so it got me thinking. Ive heard things from it can over time ruin your cat converter, fuel pump working harder, of course accuracy of the gauge itself is questionable etc. I generally fill up when it hits 1/4 or near enough. Maybe its just me but i feel like it burns quicker when it gets low vs a full tank (evaporation, consumption or something along those lines)
  11. Great outcome. Always good to see a manufacturer look after a customer. Many other's would argue and blame the customer. Hmm your sticky dash is a result of you fitting an aftermarket stereo haha
  12. $950 to $1k does seem excessive given Lexus Parramatta quoted me $840 and thats for my ISF which is a much bigger engine, 10 litres of oil or near enough etc. Thought it would be alot less for a 250.
  13. Cheers thought so. So about $275ish AU with postage. Just wasnt sure if someone managed to find a local supplier at a similar or better price. Ps As you have said, im sure it wont take long for it to scrape everywhere.
  14. Hey i like the front lip, subtle. Do you mind if i ask where you got this from, how much etc. Ive seen a few Ebay specials from the US but not much locally
  15. Not sure about Rotors but Brakes Direct appear to have pads for the RCF. Im not fortunate enough to have an RCF, only my old and trusted ISF :-) but got Project Mu's and DBA's for it and the service overall was great along with the price. http://brakesdirect.com.au/aus/catalogsearch/result/?q=vehicle&make=Lexus&model=RC&generation=2014-%2B%28C10%29&submodel=RC%20F Maybe you can message them direct for possible rotor replacements like DBA etc
  16. Great to hear. Read several horror stories from the US forums about various bugs which turned me off for now. Then i saw a different approach, a double din unit replacing the bottom section from Beat Sonic. Plug in play harness with various options to stream, playback, works with OEM equipment, steering control etc, android play Sits quite low though as no other place it can fit so appearance will be subject to everyones different tastes
  17. Cool, keep us informed. Would be curious to see if you notice any difference.
  18. Cheers for the replies. Saw some posts on the US forums but not for ISF's and that was a mixture of different answers. A few times ive been caught out (generally dont let it get lower than a 1/4 so its not picking up the last remaining drops) but this morning i was running late to work and the fuel light came on and when i parked it said 30km remaining. I filled up after work anyway but was just curious, had i drove that 30km, how much further approx could i go if i continued. Ended up getting just over 380km to the tank before filling up this afternoon. Usually at 1/4 or so im getting low 300's :-(
  19. Hi all, Just curious if anyone knows approx how many kms can be driven when the low fuel light appears. I know its dependant on your right foot etc but if driving normal, not in sport mode etc, how far could our ISF's drive?
  20. Nice choice Ozzy. I love black wheels, look mean and also helps hide brake dust lol
  21. Damn, sorry to hear. I have bolt on mods and given our cars are n/a i wasnt expecting huge gains unlike some of those supercharged or turbo V8's like the Holdens, Mercs etc but i was still happy with the tune. Was it best bang for my buck, thats debatable but i gained throughout the rev range. Before and afters i got alot more of a notable gain with my WRX but then again it was alot more modified as in turbo, intercooler, boost, exhaust, induction, pistons, compression blah blah. I was getting the VSC light on after my exhaust which appeared once a month and it hasnt come back since my tune so it helped me get rid of a code vs creating one like your situation. Im no expert but yeah seems very coincidental. Whilst the tuner has denied it, is he willing to assist and and atleast look it at given what you have spent. He's probably viewing it from a perspective "hey ive tuned other ISF's without this issue" but its not to say its not possible. Every car is different. Espeically if you only got 200kms before the warning appeared. Has the code caused your car to run rough etc? Thinking carbon build up but youve said its not dirty and you cleaned the TB. Throttle control module, harness, loose connection possibly. Ive lost pedal response once but it was my Apexi throttle controller so easily fixed and no warning codes. Doubt its actual hardware as in throttle body, motor etc as they were fine before your tune. Im thinking wiring, connection, harness or something less expensive. Hope its a simple fix, good luck.
  22. Read about this on the US forum. Just curious if anyone has tried this here? Many people praise it. Having an older ISF, im sure mine has never been done. Does this get done during routine services? I sometimes feel like there is a slight hesitation when accelerating from the lights but then again i think i compensate without even knowing as its so easy to spin the wheels even with mild acceleration (especially once the tyres are not new) http://my.is/forums/f221/cleaning-maf-sensor-diy-394837/ https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-f-2008-2014/855585-clean-your-mass-air-flow-sensor-lately.html
  23. Sorry i thought yours was over 270. 271 or something like that. I think i might have got yours confused with another ISF, as the latest one Sonny posted on his FB page, im sure was 270ish. 270 seems to be the magic number give or take a few kws for an intake, catback, cat exit expansion and tune. Only seen LTuned with alot more due to his headers but he assures me, he is fitting a supercharger next week and is aiming for 350 @ the wheels lol (sitting back with popcorn waiting for his reply haha). Ps if you find bargain performance headers, please let me know.
  24. Nice find Monyx. Wow those are low numbers over a 6 yr production period. I know some years will be more than others but to average out to 180/yr shows how exclusive our cars really are. Then again, even today Lexus really dont move big volumes of cars. Too classy for the average punter and cant compete Germans for sales. Then again no luxury brand is generally in the top 10 for Aussie car sales each month. Even last month, April car sales was listed as: 1 Toyota 16,090 2 Mazda 8630 3 Hyundai 6850 4 Holden 5804 5 Ford 5802 6 Mitsubishi 5470 7 Kia 4120 8 VW 3867 9 Subaru 3854 10 Nissan 3350 Toyota are always out in front with the Hilux and Corolla. Mazda and Hyundai are generally closer but Mazda cemented itself clearly in 2nd position. Kia often out of the top 10 so they had a good month (will probably have a great sep/oct when the Stinger is finally realeased) Honda never make a top 10 appearance anymore, maybe the new Civic will help (not my taste though, maybe when i was a teenager lol). Ford definitely picked up too, usually way behind Holden. I know the Ranger doing great things for them sales wise.
  25. lol youre probably right, all these Black ISF's, it does get confusing. I initially tried to get the blue, that would of stood out :-) Tune looks on point. Im sure given most ISF's have a intake, exhaust etc, he could almost have a generic map he could apply although i know he treats each tune uniquely. Id really like to see what other tuners can do with the ISF. Im sure they are capable of more, even without a supercharger etc. Some of the numbers he gets from high end Aldi's and HSV's etc is crazy at 400+
