TESTED ON: 2007 IS250 Sports with enhancement pack

SUCCESFUL/FAIL: Success

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: medium (would be helpful if you had a third arm!)

INTRODUCTION

It is possible to disable the warning chime that sounds whenever the driver or front-seat passenger unbuckles their seatbelt while the car is in motion. I find this annoying when entering the private estate where I live, as I have to unbuckle my belt for a long reverse into my driveway/garage.

STEPS

1. Press the START button twice (without foot brake) to power up the system

2. Press the trip reset button couple of times until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B)

3. Turn off the system again by pressing START again

4. Unbuckle the driver's seatbelt

5. Turn on the system again (press the START button twice without foot brake)

6. When the dash lights come on, press and hold the trip reset button for about 10-15 seconds (possibly longer if it doesn't work first time)

7. While still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt

8. The odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF" (toggle this with the trip reset button)

9. Process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the system off

The setting is retained until changed again (by simply repeating the process).

Thanks for that Korvan,I pick up a guy for work so am moving before he`s done up his belt with the associated loud beeping---no more, great. Its a pity the parking sensors aren`t as noisy as that, can`t here mine with the radio/cd playing.

Hi Korvan,

I only just joined this site today.

I have a 6spd manual is250 and tried your instructions on turning the seat belt chime off but using the clutch pedal instead. "no luck".

Do you know if the process is different for a manual please?

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work for the 2010 IS250 Sports Luxury. I've tried it several times.

Works well on a 2006 gs450h but you need to hold both the reset and the odo for the timeframe nominated to make it work.

I've just done it on mine

Thanks for the tip

Thank you for the awesome thread! Works like a charm! I have a 2010 IS250 prestige

For those with a MY10 IS250 who says that it doesn't work, I think I've figured it out what the problem is.
I tried last night several times and couldn't get it to work for some reason even though I followed each step to a T.

Now, when it comes to (STEP 6) instead of holding it down for 10-15secs or longer as explain, hold it down for 25secs & it will definitely work!

I tried timing it for 20secs and failed. It wouldn't work...
So my guess is that, the (longer period of time) that is explained in (STEP 6) is (25secs)

If I can find some free time, I'll record it and post it up here....

Good luck & hope this helps! ^_^

Gidday,

Yep tried this over the weekend on my 2007 IS250 and it worked a charm, had it have a couple of goes at it with the extended counting but all good.

Many thanks,
