  1. Thanks for the informative posts :) Bazzle
  2. Asked Grom a couple of questions re adding (sideloading) apps and info on rev cam. Answer: Dear barry,The factory camera stays functional you just lose the factory USB port function in the vehicle. You can install applications from the google play store as well as "sideload" applications of your choosing. The ISF touch screen is a single point touch style screen and does not allow "drag and swipe" or multi touch gestures. Using applications outside what we offer bundled in the vline unit may not work or may have limitations due to this, there are up and down side arrows on the screen but may not do all the functions you need for those apps as they were not designed for our unit or that vehicle. In that case you would need to use a keyboard/touchpad/mouse/controller for full usability of those applications
  3. Having one issue that I didnt have before. When I stop an oily smell comes up into the cab, mainly thru the dash vents. I thought it may of been oil from oily hands on the cat convertor and would burn off but it hasnt changed. Ive checked for leaks around trans, engine, diff etc...no joy. Anyone know if there is a breather on the top of the gearbox?
  4. http://gromaudio.com/store/vline/ One of these? Where did you purchase? Mine is an IS350 2011 (oz)
  5. Does the 250 have the ECT mode button on the dash like the 350? If so use that setting.
  6. Thanks to gfs250's recommendation I had mine done today. The oil came out black, but that doesn't always mean a lot. Filter wasn't too bad and no buildup on the magnets in the pan. Was easy to flush thru as mine has an heat exchanger on the side. Had the diff oil changed as well. That just looked like diff oil when it came out Right again for the next 70k's Cost for trans oil change and filter $440 An hours driving it just felt nice and smooth, not much noticeable difference but most of my runs are in top gear on freeways atm anyway. 7. Have a read of this thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-2nd-gen-2006-2013/861936-dashboard-rattle.html
  8. Noises can be so many things. Even rubber bushes that are sticking make knocking noises. if you move steering wheel a small amount can you replicate the noise? If so whilst its doing it get someone to hold their hand around 1. Ball joint, 2, Sway bar bushes, 3. Rack mounts 4. Shock top and bottom (whilst gently bouncing car) etc. any knock will be felt in the hand. If its a bush spray with lanoline or similar. If its a noise that needs a load try to replicate, try on a speed bump or driveway entry and work out what side. Does it change if you gently apply brakes? Are wheel nuts tight? Is top suspension mounting tight.......Bounce with hood open and look and listen. etc etc Might be your muffler bearings, have a look underneath ;)
  9. Dont know BUT I have changed oil on many vehicles in trans, diff's, xfer cases etc that all say, sealed, good for life etc etc. Issues afaik only come when items like organic clutch materials start to break down. Two things can happen, good and bad. Unsubstantiated good thing is the "old" oil carries around the minute particles of organic material and it enhances (may?) the worn parts. An oil change "may" also loosen up deposits when subjected to higher levels of cleaning and friction modifiers in new oil. Bad thing is the filter may slowly block up. This has been known to cause overheating issues in other vehicles.(MB etc) In my book an vehicle with high k's and no changes would probably be best to leave it alone...who knows? Toyota do suggest after 50k's for the same GB in Toyotas. (Advised from an dealer service manager) Me...I always change ALL the lubricant in my vehicles every 2 years.
  10. I use Bosch wipers get them from ebay. I also use ceramic pads but Ive got Hawk sent over from USA, also ebay. With the carbon build up get some Subaru top end cleaner from a Subaru dealer and spray into intake as per cans directions. Take it for a "thrashing" :)
  11. Also for peace of mind get a Trans shop to flush it thru. Cost between $460 and $650 here in Melbourne. $340 to $450 for just a drain, filter and refill.
  12. If you purchase and you want the Lexus stamp in the book just get a minor service performed at a dealer to add the continuity again. Good luck. I wanted an ISF but funds didnt allow :(
  13. Shouldn't be. mechanicals the same as other 350 models other than suspension parts and interior trim etc
  14. I believe the inner tyre wear is able to be reduced by a proper alignment 0-1mm and front inner rear bush change to prevent dynamic toeing out. On Euro cars Ive had, Merc SLK, Audi , VW R series they did the same esp on the rear. Each car was expertly aligned and I fitted Michelin PS3's to each one. Issues were then negligible. The Michelins PS3's (and now PS4's?)apparently handle any scrub better than others. I have done the above to my IS350. I also now have the harder bushes to go in soon.
  15. Google search brought up a myriad of hits so here is one that seems to be plausible https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-3rd-gen-2006-2011/613742-programming-used-smart-key-fob.html
  16. Don't worry re the flappy paddle bit. Engine mode in ECT does it nicely. I'm very happy with my F sport 2011, Bought it 6 months ago following on from having a few sporty Euro cars. Handles well, goes very well, comfortable, economy not to bad, best from memory low 7's (l/100) Current Average 10.4 l/100 I researched a lot before I got mine. Found nothing untoward in the IS350. I can hear the injectors from time to time but I may be overly sensitive.

  18. Then from Omeo to Blue Duck/Anglers Rest and the back way into Falls Creek... or continue to Mitta Mitta and Wodonga direction :) The Whitfield trip is only a few hours each way. No where near the Great Alpine rd. Better in summertime for both routes but we have driven the back (bitumen) roads north of the Maroondah hwy quite a few times in other club and solo drives. Great driving road
  19. I'm guessing it wont fit an series ii 2011?
  20. Here one Ive done a few times. Not sure re highways and snow traffic on P/hols though. Eastern suburbs to Yea, Whitfield, Yark, Ruffy, Creightons creek, Longwood East back via Gooram to Merton. Home via Maroondah hwy, Yark, Alexandria. Food and loos at, Yea, Yark, Ruffy, Merton, etc https://goo.gl/maps/r2KDxKPfJB72
  21. Its done, have a beer and enjoy the ride. Its not only Lexus, Toyota, Ford, Holden, Dodge etc etc . I occasionally work on 4 wheel drives that look big but when you want to get somewhere... so many wires, covers, tubes, brackets.. its just the way it is.
